Hotel Riu Jalisco garners appreciation for its satisfactory amenities, with guests enjoying the well-kept grounds and diverse dining options, despite some suggesting the facilities could be refreshed. While rooms are said to require updates, the hotel's service is often lauded for its friendly staff, although isolated incidents of unresponsiveness have been reported. The vibrant atmosphere with live entertainment is a hit, albeit occasionally loud. Its prime location near a scenic beach is praised, and while cleanliness is generally commended, some inconsistencies have been noted.

The resort is older, but very well kept. The vegetation is mature and beautiful. The beach is nice with lots of lounge chairs. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spotless and restocked as needed. There was a nice selection of food to choose from, I especially liked not having to make reservations for the restaurants. The lobby bar could have used a few more bartenders before dinner hour, the line could get quite long. The saxophonist made up for the wait, he was excellent. The main stage entertainment was good, with the exception of the drunk spring breakers trying to sing karaoke with vulgar language while children were present. The entertainment staff should have stopped it and not allowed others in their group to continue. Prior guests have complained about the beds and pillows, mine were excellent. No problem sleeping in the bed at all. The door to your room is set back in a cove so it cuts down on the hall noise at night of people going by. My room 1146 was on the ground floor facing the main walkway. The opposite side of the building would have been much quieter. The RIU app comes in handy, but doesn’t say the location of events during the day. It also seemed like everything was going on at the same time. Aqua aerobics, bags, darts etcetera all at noon. There are masseuse’s on the beach left or right of the resort property in easy up tents charging $25 U.S. that I highly recommend. You are welcome to walk a short distance to enjoy the RIU Vallarta resort as well. The RIU palace will only allow you to tour the lobby. Overall the property was worth what I paid. It’s a 20 minute taxi ride for $21 U.S. to Puerto Vallarta airport, marina and shopping. I would stay here again.

We traveled with our kids (5 and 3) and extended family, group of 14, everyone had such a great time, we all said we’d do it again. This was our second trip to the Riu Jalisco first time with the kids! We noticed many other groups of families also staying here, it’s a perfect resort to accommodate a family trip. It’s such a good value for a great experience, where the kids stay and eat for free we just paid for the upgraded family room. There is always activities to keep everyone busy and great evening entertainment. Their big nights are on Friday with their Riu party, which is so much fun for all, it quits at 11pm, we never had an issue with noise any time we’ve stayed here, everyone sleeps well. We always enjoyed what this property had to offer. It’s very clean and beautiful, the maid service is very good, and we always came back to a nicely cleaned room, you see staff cleaning up cups and garbage from around the pools all throughout the day, they’re very attentive to keeping the property clean. Sometimes at breakfast or dinner in the main buffet you’re waiting to get coffee, water or a drink but the service overall is very good. A variety of delicious food to keep everyone happy and full. We enjoyed this trip very much especially staying at the Jalisco. We will likely be back again!

Good hotel, it meets RIU standards, it is surprising that upon our arrival around 1 pm they immediately assigned us a room, and it was September 15, which felt like it was newly renovated and spacious, very comfortable and clean, food very good, somewhat repetitive but rich and the one served at dinners is very good, the facilities in general feel very good, the drinks like in all hotels of this type you have to specifically ask for what you want because of what. On the contrary, they serve you very poor quality alcohol, there are good tequilas included, such as Maestro Dobel El Azul, Sentinel, Antiguo and some others. The beach area is very comfortable, many lounge chairs, perhaps more bars in the palm tree area would be excellent, the pools are excellent. They are air-conditioned, the only bad thing is that it is family-friendly and there are many children. The. Riu party very good, very enjoyable, good music, good atmosphere, very good food and drinks.

The worst thing and what is so noticeable is the beach, the sand is dark and the sea water is dark green, almost gray, it is warm and pleasant, but I will definitely stay with it. Caribbean or Baja California.
In my opinion one of the best options in Nuevo Vallarta, but there is nothing outside just subdivisions and hotels so the only thing would be to go for a walk with nothing else to do.

If it weren't for what the hotel offers and includes, the place itself would be somewhat disappointing.

Last year June we stayed at Vallarta. We came here on friday night for the White party. We really liked the looks of the pools with all the palm trees , so we booked here for this year. Had lots of fun with the activities , thank you Horatio for picking on me , it went both ways lol. The food was really good, did most evenings in the buffet, Thanks to Alphonso for going above with the table service.
Out room was on the 4th floor facing the court yard , with the sliding doors closed , it was pretty quiet. The king bed was comfortable , pillow could be a bit better. The a/c worked fine , kept us cool while sleeping
Our mini fridge never got filled , with the riu app just ordered more water and coffee packs
Sunwing booking states that no coffee makers in the room, they did have one for us.
Sports bar was good for early morning beverages
Front desk was great to deal with, check in and money exchange
over all a great time , hopefully we will be back here this winter

We stayed at the RIU Jalisco from December 6–15, 2024, with a group of seven. Throughout our visit, the staff were consistently friendly and hard-working, which we genuinely appreciated. Unfortunately, during our stay, four members of our party—including both children and an older adult—experienced stomach issues that lasted about 24 to 48 hours. While we can’t confirm the source of these illnesses, we feel that adding more visible hygiene measures in the dining areas, such as providing hand sanitizer at restaurant entrances, might help prevent similar occurrences.

In addition, some aspects of the property felt dated, particularly the pools, which could benefit from renovations to bring them up to more modern standards. Overall, we value the kindness of the staff but hope that management will consider enhancing cleanliness practices and updating certain facilities to improve the overall guest experience.

Dear scotthE7143XG, We appreciate you took the time to leave your impressions regarding your recent stay with us. However, it is disappointing to read that despite our efforts we could not meet your expectations in some areas. At RIU Hotels & Resorts health is our priority. We wish to explain that in accordance with our high standards, we guarantee our guests the highest quality service, which goes far beyond the legal requirements, especially when it comes to food safety. Therefore, we follow a food safety protocol, ensuring product safety and quality, in all our F&B processing, preparation and service processes. We can guarantee that our regular H&S inspections show optimal results in this area. Travelling to different countries with different climates may lead to gastrointestinal problems, which may not necessarily be related to food. Needless to say, we are deeply sorry to read that you felt sick. We follow strict procedures while handling our food products, in order to prevent and avoid any kind of alimentary risks or hazards. Nevertheless, we will take note of your observations for future arrangements. Hoping to host you again. Best Regards, Hotel Riu Jalisco Online Reputation Manager

Riu Jalisco (Stay: October 20, 2024 - October 27, 2024)

I recently stayed at Riu Jalisco from October 20 to October 27, 2024, and here’s an honest breakdown of my experience:

Food Quality and Options: Extremely disappointing. The food quality was poor with limited variety, and on one occasion, I even found a large hair in my meal. The cleanliness of the glassware was inconsistent, with lipstick stains left on the glasses more often than not. Additionally, they frequently ran out of basic drink options like Coke or Sprite, which was frustrating.

Housekeeping: On a positive note, the housekeeping was excellent. The staff kept the rooms very clean and responded quickly whenever we requested assistance.

Drinks: The drink quality was subpar. The taste varied across different bars for the same cocktail, indicating a lack of consistency. The bartenders didn’t seem well-trained, and I found it was best just to stick with beer.

Reception: The reception staff were friendly, helpful, and supportive, which helped improve the experience somewhat.

Overall Hotel Experience: While the hotel is in a good location, the property feels outdated and would benefit greatly from renovation. When compared to other resorts like the Ocean 10 or Princess hotels, Riu Jalisco falls short. It’s definitely not a five-star experience, and I’d rate it closer to a 3 or 3.5-star.

Final Recommendation: If you’re traveling with kids, I would strongly suggest choosing another hotel. This one doesn’t offer the standard expected for family stays.

Dear guest, Thank you very much for taking time to tell us about your stay. We do our best to provide an excellent service experience, therefore, it is disappointing to learn you were not impressed. It is unfortunate to learn, that regardless our chefs’ efforts, we could not meet your taste. In order to fulfil every guest expectations regarding food, our main buffet and theme restaurants offer a great selection of exquisitely presented local and international dishes which are prepared daily with the utmost care and using fresh ingredients. We regret that we failed to live up to your wishes and we can assure that we do check daily our food offer, combining quality and variety catering for all tastes. Your review will be revised further. The resort grounds is beautiful, very well maintained, workers are always watering, cleaning. The resort is set way back from the beach, You can’t see the ocean from your room nor the pools. There are two pools, we used the swim up bar pool. There is entertainment by the pool, water exercises, Bingo, music etc. The washrooms by this pool are well maintained with a worker always standing by to clean and mop up. Beach is nice, lots of chairs everywhere, no need to get down there early to save a chair. Food was very good, excellent variety. They seriously need to address the birds around the food areas. Disappointed about our room, we were on the 2nd floor facing an empty lot and the Riu Vallarta vs the courtyard. We had called twice to see how we could get the courtyard and was told good views in all rooms,(had a standard room) We inquired when we got there how to get to the courtyard view, and told needed to upgrade room more $. They say the rooms are assigned 1 week prior to arriving. We are returning in Feb as had booked it before this trip. We will attempt to try to get assigned a Courtyard view, it would be enjoyable given I am a early riser and like to sit out and have coffee and enjoy the views…this was the only thing missing at this resort the view of ocean or a view from the deck.

Once again a wonderful time at the Riu Jalisco. 10 days of staff working so hard to ensure all were enjoying their stay. The front Desk staff were very friendly, organize and attentive to the multitude of guests arriving. They were able to place us in room 4193 as we had been in this room before. Close to a stairwell which traffic noise was not an issue and brings you out closest to the entertainment area and beach. The staff in all of the restaurants were very friendly attentive and of great assistance. Frida, Claudia and Yalma were 3 of the ladies whom I had the pleasure of being one of their guests. They picked up on my habits and had my juice waiting for me when I would return to my table. Angelica and and other housekeeping staff ensured the room was spotless everyday and we would find "towel animals" waiting for us on our return. A very nice touch. The bartenders were very busy but always made sure your glass was full as soon as possible.
We dined in the Main Buffet which has a great selection of hot and cold foods. We enjoyed a great Steak Dinner at the Steak House, a meal of assortment of cuisine at the Asian restaurant.
The beef at the Italian restaurant was so tender and delicious as well as the selection at the restaurant across from the main buffet. Nice lounging areas around the pool and down on the beach with a nice assortment of shade to sunny spots. Great swimming and sandy beaches. The evening entertainment was great for the little ones as well as a variety of shows afterwards for all. We are so looking forward to our next visit in the new year.

Came for a friend/family wedding and is the only reason I came to this resort and my first time in Mexico.
Customer service, is a zero, unfriendly staff with a few exceptions. No focus on customer and a lot of the time it seemed I was inconvenient to them, unless you throw money at them.
Cleanliness, I’d give a 2, public bathrooms are always cleaned and attended to, if you don’t have your do not disturb sign on by 8 am, they come knocking to make up room. The walls, ceilings or maybe deep clean items need to get done and doesn’t seem much focus on that. Paint jobs around resort and in rooms looks like it was done in half day with paint drops EVERYWHERE!
Beach/pools, 3.5, there is a party pool mostly with adults that throw kids in water and let them do whatever they want, pool 2 is a little quieter but still kids! And there is a kid pool as well. Tiles in pools need some repairs and no areas to actually swim, nothing over like 5.5’ of water. Good amount of chairs at each location and you do t have to go save at 8am to get a spot. Beach/ocean area has a lot of chairs, shade if you want and sand is kept up nicely. No service for drinks, you have to go to bartender to get filled. Do t forget a big tumbler from home! People selling stuff can’t come on the property so you’re not constantly harassed to buy stuff .
Food, 3, pretty much same food everywhere, if it’s not fresh, it’s prob a day old.
Wedding reception at steakhouse, I’d say it was ok. Servers were talking to themselves while bride & groom were giving speech, had to tell them to stop, still didn’t really. We’re serving whole speeches going, but only half got served.
Overall, won’t be back!

RIU Jalisco, I have several comments below:
Very bad experience.
1. It is the first time that I had to pay 900 Mexican pesos per person to occupy the hotel facilities before 1:00 pm, but they gave me the opportunity to occupy them at 11:00 am, as long as I paid a VTP. Note. If you arrive early to take advantage of the day, you will NOT be able to occupy the facilities until 1:00 p.m.
2. The reception staff gave me an envelope to exchange for the keys and all the information related to the hotel was in the application and what we wanted to know would be searched in the App. I had elderly people with me and it was difficult for them to check the hotel information because they do not use a smartphone. No cordiality.
3. The girl at the reception, Alyson, who delivers the keys, does not deal with customers. I wanted to ask her a question and she commented that she was very busy and told me to wait for her to clear out. She didn't even face me, very bad.
4. The drinks in the common areas are not of good quality, every time I drank something immediately it hurt my head.
5. Restaurant food is simple and salty. And in the specialties there was no difference with the buffet.
6. The pools are all very dirty
7. The mats in the main restaurant are very dirty, they just clean them with a cloth and that's it.
8. The rooms need more cleaning and it is necessary to change the toilet boxes because the water is thrown away, they lack maintenance
I hope you take it into account because there are many areas for improvement.
Greetings,
