The worst thing and what is so noticeable is the beach, the sand is dark and the sea water is dark green, almost gray, it is warm and pleasant, but I will definitely stay with it. Caribbean or Baja California.
In my opinion one of the best options in Nuevo Vallarta, but there is nothing outside just subdivisions and hotels so the only thing would be to go for a walk with nothing else to do.
If it weren't for what the hotel offers and includes, the place itself would be somewhat disappointing.

Out room was on the 4th floor facing the court yard , with the sliding doors closed , it was pretty quiet. The king bed was comfortable , pillow could be a bit better. The a/c worked fine , kept us cool while sleeping
Our mini fridge never got filled , with the riu app just ordered more water and coffee packs
Sunwing booking states that no coffee makers in the room, they did have one for us.
Sports bar was good for early morning beverages
Front desk was great to deal with, check in and money exchange
over all a great time , hopefully we will be back here this winter
In addition, some aspects of the property felt dated, particularly the pools, which could benefit from renovations to bring them up to more modern standards. Overall, we value the kindness of the staff but hope that management will consider enhancing cleanliness practices and updating certain facilities to improve the overall guest experience.
I recently stayed at Riu Jalisco from October 20 to October 27, 2024, and here’s an honest breakdown of my experience:
Food Quality and Options: Extremely disappointing. The food quality was poor with limited variety, and on one occasion, I even found a large hair in my meal. The cleanliness of the glassware was inconsistent, with lipstick stains left on the glasses more often than not. Additionally, they frequently ran out of basic drink options like Coke or Sprite, which was frustrating.
Housekeeping: On a positive note, the housekeeping was excellent. The staff kept the rooms very clean and responded quickly whenever we requested assistance.
Drinks: The drink quality was subpar. The taste varied across different bars for the same cocktail, indicating a lack of consistency. The bartenders didn’t seem well-trained, and I found it was best just to stick with beer.
Reception: The reception staff were friendly, helpful, and supportive, which helped improve the experience somewhat.
Overall Hotel Experience: While the hotel is in a good location, the property feels outdated and would benefit greatly from renovation. When compared to other resorts like the Ocean 10 or Princess hotels, Riu Jalisco falls short. It’s definitely not a five-star experience, and I’d rate it closer to a 3 or 3.5-star.
Final Recommendation: If you’re traveling with kids, I would strongly suggest choosing another hotel. This one doesn’t offer the standard expected for family stays.

We dined in the Main Buffet which has a great selection of hot and cold foods. We enjoyed a great Steak Dinner at the Steak House, a meal of assortment of cuisine at the Asian restaurant.
The beef at the Italian restaurant was so tender and delicious as well as the selection at the restaurant across from the main buffet. Nice lounging areas around the pool and down on the beach with a nice assortment of shade to sunny spots. Great swimming and sandy beaches. The evening entertainment was great for the little ones as well as a variety of shows afterwards for all. We are so looking forward to our next visit in the new year.
Customer service, is a zero, unfriendly staff with a few exceptions. No focus on customer and a lot of the time it seemed I was inconvenient to them, unless you throw money at them.
Cleanliness, I’d give a 2, public bathrooms are always cleaned and attended to, if you don’t have your do not disturb sign on by 8 am, they come knocking to make up room. The walls, ceilings or maybe deep clean items need to get done and doesn’t seem much focus on that. Paint jobs around resort and in rooms looks like it was done in half day with paint drops EVERYWHERE!
Beach/pools, 3.5, there is a party pool mostly with adults that throw kids in water and let them do whatever they want, pool 2 is a little quieter but still kids! And there is a kid pool as well. Tiles in pools need some repairs and no areas to actually swim, nothing over like 5.5’ of water. Good amount of chairs at each location and you do t have to go save at 8am to get a spot. Beach/ocean area has a lot of chairs, shade if you want and sand is kept up nicely. No service for drinks, you have to go to bartender to get filled. Do t forget a big tumbler from home! People selling stuff can’t come on the property so you’re not constantly harassed to buy stuff .
Food, 3, pretty much same food everywhere, if it’s not fresh, it’s prob a day old.
Wedding reception at steakhouse, I’d say it was ok. Servers were talking to themselves while bride & groom were giving speech, had to tell them to stop, still didn’t really. We’re serving whole speeches going, but only half got served.
Overall, won’t be back!
Very bad experience.
1. It is the first time that I had to pay 900 Mexican pesos per person to occupy the hotel facilities before 1:00 pm, but they gave me the opportunity to occupy them at 11:00 am, as long as I paid a VTP. Note. If you arrive early to take advantage of the day, you will NOT be able to occupy the facilities until 1:00 p.m.
2. The reception staff gave me an envelope to exchange for the keys and all the information related to the hotel was in the application and what we wanted to know would be searched in the App. I had elderly people with me and it was difficult for them to check the hotel information because they do not use a smartphone. No cordiality.
3. The girl at the reception, Alyson, who delivers the keys, does not deal with customers. I wanted to ask her a question and she commented that she was very busy and told me to wait for her to clear out. She didn't even face me, very bad.
4. The drinks in the common areas are not of good quality, every time I drank something immediately it hurt my head.
5. Restaurant food is simple and salty. And in the specialties there was no difference with the buffet.
6. The pools are all very dirty
7. The mats in the main restaurant are very dirty, they just clean them with a cloth and that's it.
8. The rooms need more cleaning and it is necessary to change the toilet boxes because the water is thrown away, they lack maintenance
I hope you take it into account because there are many areas for improvement.
