Montizeau is a great place to relax and enjoy the beautiful nature in the Sologne region and a great starting point for exploring the castles of the river Loire region. You are in proximity of the castle of Chambord as well as Cheverny and the smaller one in Beaugency. A little further is the castle of Blois as well as many other beautiful castles and places to see in the region.
It is also close by to Orleans for a nice city trip or to other cities like Tours which are equally beautiful and offer a lot of history.

Montizeau is an old hunting lodge that belonged to a larger hunting property at the time and has been transformed into the charming B&B it is today.
The four different rooms are all beautifully decorated with each a different theme, our preferred one being the one called Parme in lavender colours. The breakfast is prepared with home made delicious jams and yoghurts, fresh baked bread and a lot more for you to enjoy.

Jaqueline is the very friendly host of the bed & breakfast – offering lots of helpful advice and tips for day trips or restaurants.

The huge garden invites for hours of reading and just enjoying nature and the forest for nice walks to get out.

I can only recommend this place to anyone who likes a bit of nature and peaceful surroundings to escape from the busy and hectic day to day life and who likes to visit the impressive and wonderful castles - it is a hidden treasure in the forest of the Sologne.

Its a charming B&B cottage with 4 rooms - 2 downstairs and 2 upstairs. Luggage trolleys available in the car park to wheel luggage in to the rooms as the lawn and gravel path would make it difficult to wheel luggage. This was really well thought out.

1) Location - 30 minutes away from Blois but it was good for us as it provided free parking, also away from the crowded and narrow streets of Blois where parking was difficult. Secure parking which was a plus, only guests with access code could open the gate.

2) Rooms - small but adequate, bathroom relatively large with double sinks, nice and thick bath towels, cotton buds, shower cap was also provided which was a pleasant surprise for this category of B&B. Tea and coffee facility was also available in the room which was unusual for most B&Bs in Europe. We asked for some fresh milk to go with tea and out hostess more than happy to provide.

3) Garden - nice lawn and pleasant outlook with tables and chairs to relax and enjoy drinks.

4) Breakfast - was great. Home baked bread, brioche, jam, marmalade & cake all made by our hostess and were delicious. Again breakfast was much better than anticipated with cold meat and cheese available along with standard coffee, tea, juice and yogurt. The dining room was very old 16th century and nicely furnished. It had the oldie worldie feel to it and a lot of character.

5) Hostess - Jacqueline was very warm and friendly. She warned us that she did not have a lot of English but despite this she made an effort to talk to guests and made sure they had a pleasant stay.

We glad to have chosen this place for our two night stay to explore the Loire Valley.

After a long days drive we arrived at gate that hid a beautiful location for a stay in the Loire valley. The accommodation was very clean, comfortable and well appointed. The gardens an absolute pleasure to wonder around. The host, Jacqueline was very friendly and gave very good suggestions as to what there is to see in the area. The meals were absolutely divine and the hospitality during the meals second to none. The location was a perfect place to come back to after a day doing the sites. We hope to meet again.

Tucked away behind tall gates, the house is set in attractive grounds and gardens. A former hunting lodge, it has been beautifully restored and transformed into a small B&B, with evening meal available if you pre-book. Our hostess, Jacqueline, is friendly and charming and speaks a little English. Our room was beautifully decorated and very comfortable and both evening meal and breakfast were delicious with home-made bread, preserves, etc. At the end of a longish drive we were delighted to be able to settle in comfortable loungers in the garden and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Highly recommended.

Everything about this place was charming, from the friendly welcome from Jacqueline, to the delightful regional cuisine, to the spacious and peaceful garden. Book ahead for the evening meal, at a table you share with other guests if there are any. It makes quite a party, and good for taxing language skills. Madame will try her best in English if necessary, and keeps her dictionaries handy. Our room was attractive and comfortable.
