Just back from 2 nights at Shadow Lake. Have been to a number of other lodges in the Canadian Rockies, including Num ti Jah, Emerald Lake, etc. and SL immediately became our favourite. 3 reasons. 1. The isolation. Once you get into Banff/Jasper/Yoho etc the...More

Thank you for your feedback, particularly understanding the effort it takes to operate a back country lodge.

Our family of four spent four days at Shadow Lake Lodge. It's the beauty, peacefulness and activity of backpacking, yet, you have delicious meals and afternoon tea prepared for you and you get to sleep in beautiful cabins with cozy down comforters. After dinner, we...More

This was a tough place to review. We kept trying to understand why people would pay so much money to stay here. We really enjoyed our stay but nothing about the place justified the extreme cost. One phrase in a promo piece suggested they are...More

Shadow Lake Lodge's rates are comparable to all of the other back country lodges within Banff National Park.

LOTS of HUGE mosquitoes on the way, less on-site. Take into account that the bungalows do not have a toilet (there are several outhouses on the premises). If the child has to go during the night, it's pretty dark and cold... More

You are able to bike the first 12km on the Redearth trail, then you must lock your bikes and hike the last 2km. You will gain 1500' on this trail, there are a few good hills, but the trail itself is not challenging.
