We enjoyed our stay here in July. I loved that this hotel is not directly downtown Banff, but yet close enough to walk to the shops and restaurants. This hotel is a little older, but it was clean and tidy for our stay. The beds...More
Got in after long 14hr flight from Oz to Van then another bunch of hrs transiting from Van arrival to flight to Calgary, then drive from Calgary to Banff. Exhausted. Needed to rest before tackling the trip next day from Banff thru Icefields to Jasper....More
We stayed here for one night while exploring Banff. The hotel is on the main drag, but still far enough away from downtown that it secluded and pretty quiet. It’s an older hotel with parking underground. Parking was pretty tight for our SUV, but we...More

It is away from downtown Banff but still close enough to just stroll over to just about anything you want. Room is nicely equipped, even with a pod coffee maker - modern and convenient but not the most environmentally friendly IMHO.

The hotel is, as stated, in the Banff Townsite, only about 12 km from the Park Gates. There are a great number of hiking trails throughout Banff National Park so it really depends on what level of hiker you might be. There are very picturesque walks that start in and around the townsite, but there are also challenging trails into the back country that have trailheads on the major roadways that traverse the mountains. Hwy 1, Hwy 1A (Bow Valley Parkway). Pick up a map or simply Google Banff National Park hiking trails, they will give you maps, locations of trailheads, description of terrain and difficulty level of hike. Hope this helps.
