We stayed in a superior suite which was good for our family of 4 as more space than a standard 2 queen room. Nothing fancy about this hotel, decor old. Room was clean. A/c is window mounted so noisy. Good being able to walk into central Banff. El Toro restaurant next door did a good breakfast, As with everywhere in Banff in high season room price was not good value.
We stayed 2 nights at Irwin's Mountain Inn in Banff in July 2022 and I would not stay there again. The parking is limited for vans/trucks and you have to race to find a spot. Our room was on the 3rd floor and it was not very clean. The mini kitchen sink was full of water spots and the coffee maker's filter holder was not not washed or cleaned (there were no coffee filters in the kitchen either so we couldn't have coffee in room). The carpet in the room was very old and made my socks dirty. The AC filter was super dusty and hasn't been cleaned in months! You can literally see a layer of 5 cm of dust on the AC filter! The hotel is located a 5-7 minute walk from downtown Banff so not recommended for those who are unable to walk a lot. There was no water cooler only an ice machine so you have to buy your own water bottles. The nice thing about this room was the bathroom amenities (shampoo/conditioner/body wash were attached to the wall so no mess and no small samples to use). However they clearly left notes in the room that if you take lotion or soap, you will be charged $20 on your credit card per item. For a $400 per night charge, I find that to be a little disappointing!…
Pros-Friendly staff! Free parking Awesome skin lotion. Location Cons-I booked this room directly in May for July 8-10 stay. Thinking for 800.00 for 2 nights It would have clean sheets ! Seriously ripped worn out middle of sleep area bedsheet . With bloodstained mattress pad. Lumpy Pillows
$300 for a 1 night getaway to enjoy some peaceful relaxation. Issue 1: NO heat. 2: Room smelled like a combination of scallops, squid and vomit. 3: Rudely awoken by employees bro’ing down in the hallway far earlier than any guest would like. Not a brief occurrence. They went on and on and in like clucking chickens. Incessant. I finally had to get out of bed and tell them to chill the $&@! out. Such disrespect. Never, ever, ever again. Taking the hospitality out of the hospitality industry.
We stayed here last year and at that time had issues with the Wi-Fi. This time it was with the beds and the temperature of the room. First off, the layout of the room was odd. I booked 2 queen beds and the one bed was right at the door. I prefer a firm mattress and this one was very soft. I had to be careful getting up out of bed as I felt like I could fall right off the bed as the edge was so mushy. The room was hot and we couldn't turn on the AC as the front desk said they disabled it as it still wasn't AC weather yet in Banff. They suggested we use the fan, which we did, but all it did was blow around the hot air. The bedroom window didn't open, and I wasn't comfortable leaving the balcony door open overnight. There was also something in the room that both my son and I were allergic to. Not sure if it was the abundance of feather pillows or something else in the room. The bottom line, years ago we had no issues with this hotel but the last 2 visits have been very mediocre. I won't be staying here again.…
Booked in for a few days . Called direct to hotel to book as we have stayed here tons of times before. Noticed that the staff wasn’t cleaning the rooms. Went to front desk to ask them what’s up and the snotty girl behind the desk said they should have told me at check in that they weren’t cleaning rooms . I told her they didn’t then she said if I would have booked the room directly from the hotel they would have. Not because I booked directly. If they would have told me, no problem but they never mentioned it. There is too many hotels in Banff to have no service at this one. It used to be great but the new owners have dropped the ball
WIFI is NOT working for the second consecutive night. Room is not cleaned unless you ask for it. Hotel front desk service needs significant improvement. Location is ok, but some walk to shopping/restaurant areas is not fun during the winter.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was not clean. The sheets were ripped and pillows were lumpy. It was very cold in Banff when we were there. We turned up the heat in our room but it never got comfortably warm. There was only one blanket on the bed and we asked for more blankets. The staff brought one thin blanket. We still were not warm. We had to sleep with our ski long John’s and socks to stay warm. We will not be returning.
OK, let me start off by saying that you get what you pay for, We had a king bed room for only $114 per night, which is very reasonable by Banff standards, or any other places really. It is clean, the front desk staff are very friendly, and the big plus was that it had underground parking - great for in the winter time. Beware, though, the clearance going into the parkade is only 5'10" so larger vehicles will have to park outside. Our room was a closet in the corner of the hotel. Yes, it had a king bed, but the room could not accommodate a night table on each side of the bed, only one side. There was also precious little room for much luggage. Fortunately, we were only on a two night getaway. The hot tub and sauna were great and when we were using them in the afternoon we had it to ourselves. There is no pool. The big attraction is El Toro restaurant, which is on their premises. Amazing breakfasts and good value for dinner. All in all, it is good value, but if you are looking for a modern updated room, room service and all the amenities and money is no object this is not the place for you.…
Extremely disappointed with this hotel. Website says free parking, but there is not enough parking for patrons. They do have underground parking but unless you have a small hatchback, don’t count on parking your Jeep Wrangler underground as it will be over the height limit. Please change your wording on the website to say “limited free parking”and indicate height restrictions for underground parking. Our room was on the second floor, right above the back door of the restaurant. We could hear all the conversations, yelling, and moving of crates and boxes from the restaurant. We had to call and ask the front desk to tell the restaurant workers to be mindful of the noise. The reaction from the front desk was that they were aware of this as they have to advise the restaurant personnel “all the time”. Why put someone in this room if this happens “all the time”! Complimentary coffee and tea was awesome, except it didn’t work. The coffee maker would only heat up about 1/8 of a cup of water. Our room had an outdoor “patio” feature. I opened the door to find a railing as wide as the door and the “patio” was about 8 inches wide. We did not understand this at all. Made no sense. The bathroom was clean. For the amount of money we paid for this room it wasn’t worth the frustration.…
