Stayed here with 2 kids for two nights. Hotel is ok, needs a lot of updates. Location was good, walking distance to all shops and restaurants. Service was just ok, staff didn't interact much, was talking on cell phones at front desk while working.
Housekeeping only comes if requested and pre booked. Parking was included which was nice
I would recommend it for a short stay in Banff.

The facilities were just what we needed for the stay- conveniently located close to everything in town, clean and comfortable rooms with access to washing / drying machines too. What really made the stay was the staff. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful, but particularly Renee! She truly made our stay in Banff so special by going the extra mile and taking the time to share all her knowledge on the most popular spots in the area. We truly looked forward to seeing her at the end of the day when we walked into the lodge because she always took the time to ask how we were doing, what we did that day, etc. Lovely experience overall!

When I first walked in I thought the hotel could do with a revamp, the decoration was a bit dated but that was the only downside. The hotel was clean, the room was cleaned daily to a top standard. The staff were friendly and very helpful when asking for advice on transport and restaurants. The breakfasts were very tasty, I tried a few but my favourite was the blueberry pancakes. The hotel was a 5 minute walk to the centre of town, the buses plus ski buses stop right outside the door. I cannot fault it and would definitely come back again.

The room was clean and the staff was nice. My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary and enjoyed ourselves. The hotel is older but seems to be kept up and is within walking distance of the main strip with parking under the building. Our room was spacious with a king-size bed, jacuzzi tub and balcony. The only negative thing I would have to say is the the jacuzzi had some black stuff at the bottom of the tub when it drained that made us feel dirty and had to take showers.

We decided to go on a night way at the last moment, my wife booked this hotel 18 hours before we arrived and for a week just before Christmas and at $130 a night it was perfect we are not picky people at all and it worked for us it was clean, nice sheets and comfy bed. It would be nice if it had a Keurig coffee maker instead of those weak gross coffee filter machines.
I would stay there again.

We stayed in a superior suite which was good for our family of 4 as more space than a standard 2 queen room. Nothing fancy about this hotel, decor old. Room was clean. A/c is window mounted so noisy. Good being able to walk into central Banff. El Toro restaurant next door did a good breakfast, As with everywhere in Banff in high season room price was not good value.

My wife and I stayed in room 332 in July 2023.
Good - big room, friendly staff, small refrigerator, free parking, and provide free ROAM bus pass on routes 1, 2, and 6.
Bad - carpet worn with holes, stale decor, room faced street with vehicle noise, and we had to change rooms because door was stuck closed
Ugly - No hot water at night (I like a hot shower before bed but 9:00 to 11:00 pm it was a very cold or ice cold shower only.) This happened 4 nights in a row.

WIFI is NOT working for the second consecutive night. Room is not cleaned unless you ask for it. Hotel front desk service needs significant improvement. Location is ok, but some walk to shopping/restaurant areas is not fun during the winter.

Rather dated decor - like going back to 1970's. Room was massive with plenty of room and two big beds. We were'nt there for very long as we arrived late after exploring Banff and left early to head west.

I was a bit mindful of the curtains as we were on the ground level at the back, and the restaurant staff would smoke outside and there were people parking but luckily it wasn't noisy at nighttime.

It's 5 mins walk to the main Banff area where there are plenty of cafes and shops. We liked the Elk cafe in their hotel which was modern and beautiful inside and was such a constrast to our hotel.

Five of us were out in the Banff area for a ski vacation and enjoyed the hospitality at Irwin’s.

The rooms were clean and tidy , the hot tub was great and the location is a short walk to all the action.

We ate breakfast all 6 days at El Toro and the food and service (thanks Mo) was super.

How close is it to the ski resorts? Is there a shuttle?
Answer from Derek M
8 contributions
There are shuttle buses to sunshine ski resort from right outside. They pick up all along Banff main street and pretty frequent. Majority of the hotels in Banff (including Irwin's) are located along the same road and all rely on the same shuttle buses to get to the ski hills. Hope that was helpful.

Hello, is there a weight limit for dogs?
Answer from Mgr-IMI
Banff, Canada3 contributions
Hello there is not a weight restriction but there is a location restriction. Pet Rooms are located on the First Floor only and are subject to a pet fee. Please ensure pet requests are made at the time of reservation. That is very important.
