Nestled in a prime location suitable for families and quiet retreats, the Banff Rocky Mountain Resort has received mixed reviews. Travelers commend the resort for its convenient access to attractions and family-friendly environment, but often express dissatisfaction with the value, citing overpriced rooms and facilities that fail to meet expectations. While the resort's natural setting is appreciated, the atmosphere and rooms are frequently criticized for appearing outdated and neglected. Cleanliness is another contentious point, with many guests calling for more thorough maintenance. Service quality varies, with some staff members praised for their friendliness and others for their lack of assistance. Amenities are a mixed bag; some guests enjoy the fireplaces and shuttles, but others point out issues with maintenance and pet-friendly services.

Have stayed twice- wasn’t overly clean first trip but thought it was a one off. This time was worse. Around bolts on toilet seat was disgusting, dining chairs, coffee tables, dirty dishes, and plugged sink. This place has great potential as it’s in a quiet location, wood burning fireplaces, stocked kitchen, comfortable sofas, but really needs a top to bottom cleaning. Had it been clean, I’d have reviewed at a 5.

the check in was good but once we arrived in our RCI unit it was a whole new ball game. Just like the other comments the kitchen was right at the main door. the kitchen table chairs where bright red and beat up and terrible ripped. no wooden chairs like the picture show from the resort in this unit. the carpet in the living room and bed room is old and dirty looking. it was nice to have a fire place but like the other reviews you had to purchase $8 wood wrapped in plastic wrap. really for the price we are paying the room the wood should have been supplied. the bed room well you couldn't swing a cat in the room without hitting a wall. the bed is a queen with one side table. the lamp worked but the alarm clock wasn't even plugged in so it went under the side table. on the other side of the bed the closet door almost hit the bed and there was no bed side table there. the use of a small chair was placed in that place so my eye glasses could be put some where. the closet had no place to put your clothes if they didn't need a hanger. just like other reviews there is no dresser drawers to put your other clothes. thank god for packing cubes or we would have been living in and out of our suit cases for the week that we were there. we also asked the manager at the front desk that we could not have been the only ones complaining about the lack of drawers in the bed room. the only reply was that the rooms have been all the same for the two years that she had been there. we too went to the front desk to get another room but all one bed rooms that they offered us to see where all the same. so there was no sense in making a change. we asked about an upgrade as well but that was going to cost us an extra $100 a night. if i was going to add that cost to our room rental we would have stayed at the Fairmount in town. the first night we were there the t.v. went to fuzz on the screen and the second night it happened again. the maintenance guy came by both times and we got him to show us how to fix it. the t.v. went out every night after that. we where on the ground floor the noise from above of us was loud and very inconsiderate of the people above. quiet time was after 11pm but having to hear the bed above you moving around is really not what you want to hear at any time of the day. we called the front desk and they called the unit above us to ask to keep the noise down but it really didn't help. Please if your above a unit remember noise and sounds travel

I had low expectations after reading the reviews but it was a bit better than I expected. We stayed in this location because friends were here and we took family skiing to Lake Louise and Sunshine.

We had a one bedroom wolf condo, used a coupon I found online to get 25% off making it $189 weekdays. It was a very tiny suite. Kitchen was missing many items but when we called front desk they quickly replaced it.

The outdoor hot tub area was very filthy with dead flies sitting there for 5 days before cleaned. Small hot tub.

Our pull out couch was stained and couch mattress was stained. In fact the sofa mattress was covered in food bits and we called for another mattress cover as it was dirty too. That was the dirtiest part of our suite.
The Queen bed mattress in the bedroom also felt old and bumpy. Very little storage in the suite.

The complex is run down. The suites were not well maintained nor are the grounds

The front desk staff and maintenance staff were very pleasant.

We cleaned our whole suite before we settled in, we could have used a vacuum. No one came by to offer to get our garbage or towels.

It was a 6 min drive into Banff. Or an hour walk with a large portion on highway. Parking lot got very full and it was hard to find a spot at night. Our suite on main floor was incredibly noisy when upstairs neighbors moved in. The noise was unbearable and I'm sure they were trying to be quiet. Lucky they kept similar hours to us.

There was not a shuttle available into town. Lake Louise will pick up skiers from this location.

We would not stay here again. Next year we will try Canmore it had more options available. Or at least stay in downtown Banff without a kitchen for a similar price but with cleaner accomodation and better beds.

Would not recommend this place at all. We picked it because we were travelling with our pup and they are pet friendly. Online it says that they provide all these things for your pup, such as a take home toy, but none of that was provided.
The rooms are not as pictured online. Very small, dated and dirty (lots of silverfish bugs). The first 1 bedroom condo we got had mold in it. It was so bad I had to go to the front desk to request another room as I was having trouble breathing.
Our second room still smelt musty, but wasn't AS bad. Looking back we should have just asked for a refund and left.

The wood that they charged us $8 for a small bundle was so wet it wouldn't burn at all. We left it in our condo and they said they processed the refund, but they didn't.

At 9:30pm they steam cleaned the carpets above us, and we got to listen to industrial fans the rest of the night. The pull out couch was full of dirt and crumbs, and we had to again go to the front desk to request bedding as that was not provided, even though our reservation was for 4 people.
Wouldn't recommend the restaurant on site either ,food was overpriced and bland.

Was not worth the $250 a night at all.

We didn't get off to a great start. We arrived at about 8.30pm after a long day travelling from Jasper to find that the resort restaurant was closed for private function. No warning given and no sympathy given by an uninterested male receptionist either. As the resort is situated well out of town (I should have checked this out before booking), we were pretty much stuck, not wanting to have to set off to find a restaurant in a new town at that time of night.
Anyway we checked in and were sent on our way to find our room. This entailed crossing a road and searching for our ground floor room in a dimly lit area with dangerous uneven ground. First impressions were that the room was tired and tatty with numerous cracked tiles on the floor and curtains which were damaged and didn't close fully. This was an issue because the full length windows opened out onto a car park.
At least the bathroom was clean, with a good supply of fresh towels. The bed was clean also but there was no bedside table on one side and the bedside clock didn't work.
Sleeping that night was difficult because of a constant vibrating sound whose source I discovered next morning when I went outside. Attached to the outside wall of the room was a small shed containing some kind of machinery, whose sound could be heard clearly inside the room all night. The interior walls were also quite thin as you could hear conversations from other rooms.
Off we went to breakfast, which was expensive and not particularly good. Food was lukewarm. Cereal choice was Rice Crispies or Corn Flakes!
The room had a kitchenette so we planned to cook the second night. In keeping with the shabby nature of the resort, the rubber seal on the fridge was broken and someone had obviously kicked a hole in one of the cupboard doors. The cooking utensils were basic, some of the pots were not properly clean and one knife even had food smears on it, but we managed to cook anyway.
The resort is in a lovely setting and although it is well out of town there is an occasional free shuttle into Banff. However the last shuttle leaves Banff at about 9pm.
I don't normally write critical reviews but I think this resort deserves it especially at the price they charge.

We stayed five nights at the Banff Rocky Mountain Resort with our family. The condo that we stayed in was large enough to comfortably accommodate four adults and one teenager. Because of the length of our stay, we wanted to do some simple cooking at the condo. Only one of the burners on the stove worked. It took several days to get two more repaired and one was never able to be repaired. The window screens on the main floor, and in one of the bedrooms, had holes in them. Mosquitos gladly found their way into the condo.

The best part was sitting outside of the rooms at the picnic table and watching the animals nearby.
Areas for improvement: floors needed to be mopped between guests, appliances needed replacement eg hair dryer set off the fire alarm, tv has no remote, power sockets pull away from the wall, fake eyelashes from prior guest stuck on mirror, maybe weed the garden.
Don’t know about the restaurant as the room was so old I thought “don’t trust it”.

We bought a timeshare at BRMR 30 years ago, spent every year coming here several times with our 3 daughters
It was a great place to spend our vacations. Close to home and affordable.
In the last few years, we have come on an exchange with another timeshare we have. One of our daughters lives in Banff now, so we come to Banff more.
We came in February 2022 and stayed in a one bedroom and again here now in a two bedroom
We noticed so many things wrong!!!
years ago, we paid a large amount of money for a maintenance upgrade, we were told when we come, we can get un upgraded unit. we did not. asked a front desk about a better unit, any he said "no, you're a timeshare owner, you can't stay in an upgraded unit"
we moved the couch and there was a big hole in the floor
The weather was above 0, so the snow was melting, water dripping from eavestroughs onto sidewalks, then very icy at night, the roads were very icy and dangerous to walk on.
Went to the outdoor hug tub, and it had a disgusting ring of dirt along the tub.
broken clock that was there years ago, still has fixture hanging
Ice and snow were dropping into the hot tub, another guest, told us how a large icicle hit his head.
Went to the gym, equipment is in terrible shape, never been replaced in over 30 years, I thought I'd break the treadmill and elliptical while I was on it.
Outdoor BBQ by the pool didn't light very well, one of three barbequess worked, took a long time to cook, no lighter or BBQ brush
no fire place tools,
no oven mitts in kitchen
no extra garbage bags,
stove burners don't work well, push coil burners in, heat for 5 minutes
dish soap in watered down
we have complained to front desk and manager and they just came up with excuses, and asked if we called front desk when we needed items.
we shouldn't have to complain everyday about something.
very poor customer service, they don't care

My family and I have been coming here annually for the last 15+years. This year we were in a regular two bedroom condo not the wolf room and wow, what a difference but in a bad way. The room was musty, the furniture was old and bulky (didn’t really fit the space) and it looks the exact same from when we used to stay in the non- renovated rooms, meaning nothing has changed for 15 years. When we arrived we took Lysol wipes to wipe down everything as an extra precaution and I’m glad we did - some surfaces were sooo dusty which I’m guessing was because no one had stayed there for a long time. We will keep coming back annually but I really hope the rest of the rooms get renovated or at least change out the furniture. Things we continue to love about it - the location, the kitchen is stocked with everything you may need, the pool and out door hot tub (although both could use some TLC) and the restaurant.

I was told I was reserving a newly remodeled condo. When I checked in they first gave me one that smelled so bad of smoke no one could breath in it. The second unit they gave me the tv in bedroom did not work, the coffee maker did not work. No blankets on the bed, the comforter had six to eight inch holes in it, garbage on the bedroom floor left from the past. Garbage out the door. A maintenance man told me my unit had not been refurbished. When I mentioned that to the front desk they told me the maintenance man did not know anything (he had told me the units that were refurbished. When I checked in they told me they would exchange money at current rate for up to $100Us to Canadian. Wen I asked at the front desk a few days later they said they would only exchange $20 at much much less than the current rate and said they did not want to at all
