The location of this Hotel was great for us because we wanted to be a bit farther from the busier downtown Banff area but yet walking distance to everything. Parking is free. Check in was quick and we even got an upgrade although the views could have been better. Our balcony faced a apartment complex and their porches but if you looked sideways, you could see the mountains. I was happy they had one washer and one dryer but they only take Canadian coins and the staff do not exchange USD to CAN in the Lobby. I would suggest that they should switch to laundry facilities that take credit cards so anyone can use them no matter where they're from. I did manage to get CAN coins and then after the wash the dryer wouldn't work so I had to hang our clothes throughout our hotel room. We used our breakfast voucher just to get a coffee to go and apparently they're not set up for that. The man had to go into the back and pour our cups of coffee instead of having to-go cups available. The location is good, room was clean so I would probably stay here again.

The hotel is located on the main street about a 10 minute walk from Downtown Banff and about a 15 minute walk to the Bow River and park.
The entrance to the lodge is welcoming and you are greeted by friendly staff.
There is a small cafe on one side of reception which serves a selection of pastries, cakes, coffee's, tea's etc and alcohol. You can choose to eat in or outside. If you opt for outside this area is to the front of the lodge, so on the street side but set back from the road.
There is a pool, sauna and jacuzzi on site, these are sitated in the middle of the hotel with the rooms on 3 sides in the form of a triangle and located on the ground floor. We didn't use the facilities, but they seemed overshadowed by the 3 storey building so not sure how much sun this area gets. We did see other people were using the jacuzzi, not lots but some.
The hotel has an elevator and we were located on floor 3. The room itself was fairly big. As you entered the room, there was a small sitting area, with a big window where everyone could see in if you had the blind open. With the blind closed this area was dark and without any lighting. So couldn't be used at night. We did flag this with reception. After passing through the dark seating area there is an area with a vanity sink and off this is a bathroom with bath and shower over bath and toilet. Opposite the sink is an open hanging space which has been partially blocked with a huge set of drawers. This leads to a king size bed and dressing table with more storage. The carpet was shabby. Off of this is a small balcony. The balcony was tatty and unwelcoming and looked out onto the hotel opposite. There was a partial view of the surrounding mountains above the hotels in the area.
The really good thing about this lodge is that it includes breakfast and it's a great breakfast too (choice of hot and cold). There is no booking system so depending on how busy breakfast is you may have to wait for a table to become free.
Why the three star and not four star rating ... just felt the room was more on the average side, in reality I would rate this 3.5 stars but this wasn't an option. Recommended improvements - put a light in the seating area (add a net curtain for privacy), improve the balcony area and seating and replace the carpet, just make the accommodation feel more welcoming.

We had a twin double bed room, the design was awesome. Almost like having two individual rooms with two sinks and the bathroom in the middle creating the distinction. Comfy beds, warm rooms. Sauna and hot tub available and was used daily by people from what we could see. Easy to park, free parking, breakfast included and it’s a decent breakfast hot and continental. I use natural shampoos and conditioners etc at home but I really didn’t like the ones they used. They didn’t smell nice and left my hair still looking greasy. The bathroom is rather small but the extra space is given to the room I’d argue. We’d absolutely stay here again. It really suited our needs.

It is a shame that we discovered worrying marks on the bedding in our room as this caused concern and marred our stay. The best thing about the Banff Aspen Lodge is its location only a few minutes walk from all the shops, bars and restaurants and also its 2 hot tubs are lovely.
Our room had a strange layout: it was accessed from an external corridor with a window looking onto the bed and at night when we tried to sleep there was a draft blowing under the door. There were no doors separating the bed area from the sink area in the middle leading straight to the lounge with balcony. The shower and toilet were in a very small separate room but there was no sink in there so you had to come out into the main part to wash your hands!
The balcony was nice with lovely mountain views. Breakfast was included and was ok but bacon was only available every other day.

We had a lovely stay at Banff Aspen Lodge. Our queen room was spacious, and included one of the largest showers I have ever had in a hotel. It's apparent that the hotel had a recent renovation as the interior of both the room and lobby felt modern. To our pleasant surprise, housekeeping tidied up our room after our first night, which is an added bonus as it's becoming increasingly rare to find hotels that still offer daily housekeeping service at this price point. We also took advantage of the two hot tubs, steam room, and the complimentary breakfast which was simple but effective.
The hotel is conveniently located right at the beginning of Banff Ave. I recommend getting a drink from the popular cafe in the lobby before heading out to explore.

We loved our two night stay at this convenient hotel.
My husband booked a room for my birthday trip. When the hotel found out, the kindly moved us to larger room in a private corner on the second floor. They also left a card and some baked treats. It was nice to receive such great service. As well, they accommodated our request for an early check in. Thank you.
The location is great and having onsite covered parking was a bonus. It was a short walk to the river and Banff Avenue is a fun street to walk with lots to look at. As well, the local bus and the ski buses stop near the hotel.
We loved the hot tubs in the inner courtyard. It was magical to sit in the steaming water while large, lacy snowflakes fell.
Breakfast was included and the granola was some of the best I've ever had. They make it onsite daily.
Overall, the hotel is clean and welcoming but you'll notice wear in some areas like the stairs and the breakfast room hotel.
The bathrooms are spotless and the beds are comfy with clean linen- but, in our room at least, some details were missing. For instance, finger prints on the windows and a broken curtain pull.
We chose their environmental initiative (forgo room cleaning for a coupon for the coffee shop) and the hibiscus tea was delicious. It was served with a pump of syrup and frothed milk. You just put the sign on your door and the cleaners should leave a certificate to redeem. We had to ask at the front desk for ours, but that wasn't an issue for us.
The hotel offers robes for the hot tubs- just ask at the front desk for yours.
We highly recommend this hotel and would stay again if we returned to Banff.
Thank you!

The Banff Aspen Lodge far exceeded my original expectations for a 2 week ski vacation ( solo) in every respect. From check in by Stephanie ( who has continued to go out of her way to help me for the entire 2 weeks) this hotel really “ delivered “ for me . The breakfast is amazing, with superb staff who are quietly efficient, welcoming and sincere. The breakfast, including fresh fruit mix yogurt & cereal as my own healthy option , oodles of coffee and juices served to the table too. Plus cooked breakfast variations. My room ( 240) superior double and balcony gave terrific views of sunrise & sunset over the mountains too. Bathroom superb. Easy control heating too. Small fridge , desk chairs and sofa. I wanted for nothing. The courtyard hot whirlpool baths really helped after my ski days at Sunshine and Lake Louise, bus stops about 50 metres away. Housekeeping very good too, if not used daily the complimentary hot drink in White Bark cafe ( inside or outside with the warming fire) all provided that relaxation. I’m intending to book again next winter for 2 more weeks . Thanks everyone at Aspen Lodge, Banff.

30 years ago we went to Banff and Lake Louise on honeymoon and stayed at The Post (fantastic) and the Banff Springs (meh). Two kids and a mortgage have sapped the coffers somewhat so 30 years later we eyed more modest accommodation at the Aspen Lodge. And it was great. Nice room, great staff, a good breakfast in the morning which is rare in North America and invaluable if you are skiing. The two hot tubs are spacious and great to soak ageing muscles. The hotel is ideally placed on Banff Ave, only a short walk to the shops, restaurants and supermarket. Our room was large and comfortable with a giant shower cubicle, though I never quite got the hang of the twin shower heads. I have one criticism and one only. The wooden pegs in the room don't hold your coats. They just slip off. They need a little screw or something in them. The fact that this is the only criticism I can come up with shows what a great base the Aspen is. We would certainly come again and thank the staff for looking after us so well.

We recently visited Banff on a trip across Canada and decided to stay at the Aspen Lodge.
Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly by the friendly staff and informed that our room had been upgraded, which was a pleasant surprise we had not expected.
The room was nothing short of brilliant. It was huge and we had more than enough space with a sliding door that opened onto spectacular views of Mount Rundle. Everything was immaculate and modern with all you could ask for, including USB ports for charging, coffee facilities, fridge, and a large TV and sofa.
The hotel has all the charm you could imagine for a rocky mountain lodge hotel. Real log exterior, roaring firepits and heated spa pools, and an included hearty breakfast helped to really add to the special feel of the place, but what really sets it apart is the staff. We were given advice of the local area, maps, public transport, and they even booked a couple of trips for us. It felt as if nothing was a chore to the wonderful people working there, and they were genuinely happy to help make your stay special.
The location of the Aspen Lodge couldn't have been better, located on the main street in Banff, seconds walk from the shops and eateries and a ten-minute walk from the Bow River. Everything in the area is walkable with the exception of the Banff gondola, but this has free transport with the roam shuttle on the production of your gondola ticket.
Overall, we made some special memories that we won't forget in Banff, and the Aspen Lodge played a massive part in this. Should we visit the area again, we would not hesitate to stay there again as we really couldn't pick a fault with the lodge. We have also recommended it to family travelling to Canada next year, and we will continue to highly recommend the Aspen Lodge.

We stayed here as part of our Key West Rocky Mountains tour out of Vancouver, and it was a wonderful stay in Banff. Room was spacious, we had a room with two beds separated by the bathroom and amenities area. As Aussies, we loved having an actual kettle for our teas :) There is a great view from the balcony of downtown Banff, and road noise wasn't really an issue. There is an on-site washing machine and dryer, but just one and requires change to operate. If they're too busy, there are laundry facilities in town at the mall. Lovely coffee shop on site, and the breakfast provided was well stocked each morning we ate there. After 8 a.m., it is better for breakfast as the majority of the tours are leaving then or not long after so the bulk of the groups are gone. We did have a hot water issue late night on the first night with no real resolve, second night maintenance was still on site and resolved within an hour. Within walking distance to summer transportation hub IGA and main street!
