A very comfortable hotel within reasonable walking distance from the centre of Banff. All the staff we met (in the bar, restaurant, reception and concierge) were very nice and always very helpful. the couple of things preventing a 5 star - the bar is closed until 16:00, and for me personally, lack of good coffee! Minor points and did not detract from a thoroughly enjoyable holiday - Thank you to all your team

Comfiest bed, fluffiest duvet and crisp linens...I did not want to get out of bed haha! Such a nice hotel for two nights while my hubby was on course down the street, but we always stay at RCL regardless. And it was also nice that we could actually open the window to get some fresh air for sleeping...a beautiful room, a beautiful stay. Breakfast in the Evergreen was delicious as usual.

What an incompetent reception! We were checked in with pretty much no information given. Noone explained about the ski storage, slope location or ski bus. We got no information about the spa or the restaurant. The parking information was dubious apart from the paid option at 19.95 a day even as a guest. Had to go and get the info out with a hook from them. Extremely unwelcoming and incompetent. The second star is for the gas fire. Wish I had gone to Europe!

Good: Good location, about 10-15 minute walk from the main downtown core (although it is on the same street) The pool and hot tub are nice and feel like outdoors Good channels on tv Good but bad: The menu was small but the options appeared good, the buffet was closed Parking is underground and heated but $20/night Bad: The bedsheets very clearly weren’t cleaned well from the last guest or just weren’t changed The hotel and rooms are old and outdated No good views from the rooms of the mountains No free Roam bus pass (which every other hotel I’ve been to in Banff has had, which is many) Other: Staff were nice but couldn’t help with my concerns Very underwhelming, nothing exciting, wouldn’t come back

I have stayed here 4 nights recently and would have stayed longer. Located just a short walk from the bustling Downtown area of Banff. Accommodation is excellent. Room very comfortable with gas fire should you need it in winter. Spotlessly clean, separate dressing area to main bathroom.

Just a short stay over two nights ready for the Rocky Mountaineer. Room was clean, spacious and well equipped, staff were friendly and helpful, very handy location for shops, restaurants etc, supermarket on the next block. Lots of facilities available down in the basement which would be good for longer stays or skiers. Yes it's a bit dark and dated and there are cheaper places to eat nearby but that shouldn't put you off.

Our stay was very enjoyable at this lodge. It has an excellent location … not too busy with traffic or your buses and close enough to walk to everything. There’s even a bus stop in front. The staff was friendly and helpful… especially Neil the concierge who helped us with tickets and reservations. The beds we’re comfortable and the rooms spacious. The lobby has comfortable chairs for gathering. Robert and Amy Trent

We had a 4 night stay here for the Banff leg of our road trip. First the good bits We had a junior suite and it was very spacious and clean. Hotel is in a great location for walking into the town. Now the not so good bits It’s like walking into the 1970s when you enter the hotel and is in serious need of refurbishing. The buffet breakfast was probably the worst I have ever had as an offering at a hotel to the point we never even considered eating here on an evening. Although not the worst hotel I’ve stayed in this cost the best part of £400 per night and this hotel is nowhere near the standard to charge that amount. Very disappointing

So we were at this hotel from Sept 2- 7. The hotel itself is a bit dated but very cozy and very clean and about a 10 min walk to downtown. The rooms are large and spacious, the beds are very comfortable. The staff greet you with warm hearts and smiles as soon as you come in! A big shout out to Suzanne the hotel manager. Thank you for the awesome service and you were always there! Don’t know how you do these long days and with heels on! GIRL!! Another big thank you to Elmer and Dexie for keeping our bellies full at breakfast. And last but not least Neil ( who is a valet/ dining room helper/ Jack of all trades!) who took such good care of us, you know your stuff! We really appreciated your humor and sarcasm! You fit right in with both of us! We will never forget you! This trip was incredible and all of you made it even better! Thank you thank you! Much love from your maritimers Will and Carole! 🥰

You know what they say about first impressions - well the first impression provided by the Royal Canadian Lodge (and more to the point the staff) was not that positive. So we arrived by car on a holiday weekend. Banff is rammed with people and traffic. I drive up to the hotel and approach the barrier to the car park. It doesn’t open. So the wife goes to the lobby to ask if we can be let in. The answer was no. You need to check in first. But we are currently in a car which is now parked in front of your barrier. “No you check in first”……. So the young female receptionist/gatekeeper (who wasn’t wearing a name badge) relented when we said if we come in you do realise that your drive will be blocked to all traffic ? You know we are booked here. Can’t you just be flexible and sensible ? We got into the car park …..! I get the issues around security, payment etc but let’s be practical just for a minute in one of the busiest weekends in Canada. So we got to reception as soon as we parked. The same receptionist/gatekeeper then tried to process the payment which didn’t go through the system (which was slow). She asks me ‘is this your card?’ Well you’ve just seen my passport and can see the name on the card I’m thinking but confirm it is my card and indeed it is a credit card (which was the next question). Eventually she points out I need to swipe the card and not insert it. It works ! Have to say the condescending and patronising attitude by this particular member of staff made such a good impression ! We then got into the lift and found an empty drinks can on the floor (photo). Excellent! So the room was spacious and clean. No issues at all with the room (at this point). So we go out for dinner and return and realise the room is now at 24.8 degrees and rising. The air conditioning unit on the wall is not controlling the fan in the room. My wife has multiple sclerosis and high temperatures cause significant health issues for her. It is now around 10pm. I got to the lobby and meet the same receptionist. I tell her the a/c is not working and she points me to the concierge. I’ll come back to impressions again in a minute. He comes to the room and confirms the A/C is not working (room 321 by the way). He initially suggests a room change but then confirms the hotel is full so he finds a fan which to be fair does the trick for the evening. He tells us that he can’t find maintenance but will let them know. So second day comes. Fan is still in use and A/C not fixed. Third day comes (check out day) and we come into our room after breakfast at 9am and find the maintenance man in our room trying to fix the A/C. Noel (maintenance) was a lovely guy but he did say that he had only just been told about the fault and didn’t realise it had been discovered 2 days ago. Interesting ! So that’s our experience. And back to impressions and this time the concierge. I travel a lot and know that the front of house is your key interaction point with customers and those staff need to look the part. I have to say (as nicely as I can) that the concierge who dealt with us probably reflects the whole staff experience we had. Scruffy, unkempt and not really depicting a professional image. Yes he gave us a fan and probably did the best he could but the professionalism was lacking. We have been travelling through Canada for over a week now and even some of the out of town motels present a greater degree of professionalism and courtesy than this hotel.
