My octogenarian mother’s long-held dream was to travel on the Rocky Mountaineer and visit old friends out west. I encouraged her to seize the day and planned a luxurious getaway for us both. We rented a Mercedes SUV from Calgary and set off for the beautiful Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel for a few nights, before boarding our train. We generally never splurge on valet service, but the kid-glove treatment from the folks at the front came in very handy. A flight delay almost made us miss our dinner reservations at the lovely Swiss Waldhaus Restaurant, behind the hotel. They instantaneously parked the car, brought in our luggage and popped my disabled mom and me into a golf card to get us there comfortably and expeditiously. They even had a shuttle bus waiting, just as we were ready to leave. I kid you not, it was ‘Radar’ like service (for all you M*A*S*H fans)! After our meal we checked in and were put into a ‘wheelchair accessible’ room outside of the main building. Despite my disappointment at being ‘off campus’ as it were, I tried to keep an open mind. Sadly, the room was underwhelming at the eye-watering rates necessary during high season at this landmark institution. Don’t get me wrong, the view was great, but the room satisfactory at best. The main issue though was the magical mystery tour to get there. Technically it was scalable with loads of time and perhaps an electric wheelchair or savvy/youthful aid, but I’d advise this extended wing be a better bastion for those quite able, fit and wanting a good amount of privacy. By morning, we realized the gauntlet was too much to manage for every meal, as well as getting repeated access to hotel facilities and grabbing our vehicle. After a bit of discussion at the front desk about capacity issues, etc. manager, Emma (extraordinaire) stepped in. This is when you find out what Fairmont service is truly all about! We were elevated to an incredibly large and beautiful room that also had a jaw-dropping view. We were compensated generously for the inconvenience and all staff took great pains in making the rest of our visit absolutely flawless. Sure, it would have been great to avoid any hiccups, but they made it right and then some, immediately. I’m sure it took a bit of juggling, but when things go wrong, you really find out what a stellar brand is truly made of. Of course, the facilities themselves are like something out of a fairy tale. This grand dame is definitely an experience that must be added to any bucket list worth dreaming about. The amazing views, grounds, restaurants, spas, pools, bar, golf course, common areas, etc., etc. should not be missed. The nearby village is its own little idyll too. The rest of our stay was nothing less than perfect (and trust me, Mom’s not an easy lady to please)! I applaud the FBSH for their amazing responsiveness and for making lemons into the sweetest lemonade ever. It must be difficult to manage a hotel that size, whilst keeping everyone happy at peak season, but they accomplished that and much more. Air Canada can take a few tips from these professionals. To that end, Fairmont has always been a favourite brand of ours and continues to be. They are a luxury brand and thus a bit pricier than some options, but worth every penny. Thanks to all the staff that went the extra mile and made sure this special trip memorable for my mother and I, for all the right reasons. Kudos to you all and keep up the fabulous work – my husband and I will be back to this and other Fairmont properties, as soon as we possibly can!

I went there for an afternoon tea during my last vacation in Banff, I imagined myself in Buckingham Palace, it’s an unforgettable experience, everything was perfect. If you go to Banff It really worth it, the price is quite reasonable regarding the service, the taste pleasure and above all the scenery you have in front of you while you enjoying your tea and all the sweeties that come with.

We had a wonderful stay. Although we ran into a few problems related to noise from room renovations and a wedding, the gold team handled it in an efficient manner. I especially want to thank manager Amelie for making sure the rest of our stay was smooth, even going out of the way to inform us of a road closure to Jasper where we were headed (saving us from being stuck en route for 7-9 hours) and extending the check out time. She is one of the best hotel managers we have encountered in our travels! The gold lounge spread has a good selection to suit various needs and tastes. If you have time to visit the spa, it has an indoor mineral pool surrounded by other smaller pools of various temperatures. Even when the the hotel was near capacity, the spa pool was not crowded at all. There is a nice trail to run along the river just a short distance from the hotel.

Fairmont Banff springs hotel was a great place to stay. My boyfriend and I enjoyed our stay from beginning to end. We stayed as a gold member. Someone from the front desk met us at our car when we pulled up, had us checked in and showed us to our room. Our bags arrived as we were being shown our room. Gold lounge offered a great breakfast and canapés in the evening which were also delicious. The front desk was very helpful with all of our questions and gave us great recommendations. On check out they brought down our luggage within 10 minutes. I compare this to chateau lake Louise. We felt everything including food and promptness were so much better at Banff Springs.

The rooms are great. Large enough and very clean. Our view was of the flat roof, but other than that it was great. We were celebrating our 50th anniversary and to our surprise there was champagne and dessert waiting in our room along with a sweet card signed by the staff/management. This was so appreciated! It made our stay special. We ate at the Vermillion restaurant and our waiter, Terry, was just awesome. He made our meal so enjoyable. We were treated to a dessert with the meal to celebrate our anniversary. High tea was wonderful. The tea and food was so good, The staff at the High Tea was informative and fun. Thank you to all in the hotel that made our stay so memorable!

We tried quite a few resort activities during our 5 night 4 day stay and we definitely had some favorites. - My girls did 8:30 am yoga 3x’s during our stay here and loved it! - Wildlife Information Session was brief, but interesting - The one hour driving range was okay, there’s no one there to help you other than just giving you the golf clubs to hit balls, but the scenery was breathtaking - The hotel history was totally worth it. Lucy was very knowledgeable and shared lots of interesting things about the hotel. - Loved the paint and sip taught by Melissa! My husband who was very skeptical and never painted on canvas, ended up enjoying painting with us. Great family fun! Lots of laughs! - The one hour bike rental was super fun! One hour was not long enough for me to complete the simple golf course loop. I had to walk the bike back a bit when it became too steep to ride. - Our final activity was family tennis. We had a blast! We had an awesome instructor, Claire, who gave us lots of pointers. She even let us keep the balls and the racket so we can continue to play after our lesson was over. So much fun! An activity the whole family enjoyed.

Exemplary experience. Kristine was incredibly welcoming when helping to get our bags out of the car and up to our room. 5 stars for her alone! Fortunately, all other staff we came across were professional and eager to help us. My cousin and I stayed on the Fairmont Gold floor - floor 5 - and I highly recommend doing the same if you can. Canapés/appetisers and soft drinks were served in the Gold lounge in the afternoon, with breakfast in the same place in the morning. Our room was incredibly spacious, with two large beds and a decent sized bathroom. Immaculate. I’d certainly stay here again!

Attended the Fairmont Banff Springs for the first time since moving to Calgary, for a wedding. The reviews seemed exemplary, and we were really excited, however the entire experience fell short. It started with our arrival, where we appreciated the attentiveness of the staff, prompting us that it would be no trouble to take our bags, however when we declined, they proceeded to prompt multiple times that there was no cost associated with the service, followed by commenting "are you sure? the bags look quite heavy" as we were lifting them out of the vehicle. The room itself was well equipped and a nice size, however the air conditioner in the room wouldn't drop the room to a comfortable temperature. The thermostat read consistently around 18-20 degrees, which was fine, but it didn't feel like it was only 18-20. It was during a heat wave, where temperatures were above 30-32 celsius, so I'm sure that isn't a common issue, however it was during this time period. We ran into an issue with the shower in the room as well, where the shower was up 1 step from the floor of the room, and the "rain" shower head was too low for me. I am 6'7" and it was hanging lower than my head, which again wouldn't have been an issue as I've become used to that, however the removable shower head had some issues with the hose connecting it, so it sprayed out of the bottom, and as a result had very poor pressure. Front desk was really helpful, they weren't able to fix it until the evening of our last night of stay, but they made an effort to, which was much appreciated. That said, I wish they would have maybe mentioned the rain shower head / step up / height upon check in, as I would have seen if there was a different room available. The food at the Vermillion Room was not bad, and service from Danny was absolutely wonderful, it was a great night for all of us staying in Banff. We had an equally great experience in the Rundle Bar, where Marek our bartender was absolutely lovely and made some of the best cocktails we've had. The afternoon of our second day, however, I had a sandwich from the food outlet in the lobby. I ordered a Ham and Swiss, which was served to me with literally only bread, ham, and swiss, no sauce, no butter, no lettuce, no mayo, nothing. It could only be accurately described as prison food. While sitting at the counter of the food outlet in the lobby (sorry I forget the name) I witnessed one of the staff members pack up a potato salad in a to-go container, and proceed to lick the spoon they used to pack it up, then hand the container to the customer. I'd imagine they disposed of the spoon, but it seemed out of character given the quality of service we had in other venues around the building. I hope that wasn't a spoon used again. Lastly, I'm apprised as is most of the Southern Alberta area of the transphobic remarks made by the owner of Valbella Gourmet Foods. The Banff Springs Hotel promptly denounced Valbella's remarks, via Twitter and vowed to end their relationship with Valbella, and no longer purchase from them. That being said, in the Vermillion Room, for our first course, we were served Valbella charcuterie. I understand the need to maintain carrying whatever current inventory you may have, but to present it, with the name of the charcuterie manufacturer verbally mentioned at the table, seems disingenuous given the public announcement made by Fairmont to no longer maintain a working relationship with this company. All of this said, the service was excellent, from the Front Desk to the Food Venues, and the front facing staff. I just wish all of the adjacent services matched that level of care.

Dear Aaron R, Thank you for your feedback. We are delighted to hear about your positive experiences with the Vermillion Restaurant and Rundle Bar service, as well as our Front Desk - however, we are sorry to hear that the overall experience did not meet your expectations. Sincere apologies for any confusion regarding the charcuterie, as service messaging and menus were in transition during the timing of your stay. We would be happy to discuss your overall experience further, if you would like to reach out directly. We thought we had booked a superior room. We got a king room in the gatehouse. I would have preferred the main building but the gatehouse area is quieter and we had a great view. There is a lobby area, like a living room on the ground floor of the building which can be useful when you have booked more than one room and need a meeting place. The main building looks like a castle and can be kind of hard to find your way around. If anyone in your party has mobility issues this may not be the best hotel choice. The pool is a bit small for a hotel this size but it was nice to have an outdoor pool. There is a takeout food option open 24 hours. We had the breakfast buffet in the Vermillion Room. Overall, I’m glad we had a chance to stay in the “castle”.

I wanted to take the time to say how much I enjoyed the history tour led by Lucy! I’m normally not a big history person but her facts were interesting and her questions were engaging! I loved learned about the Northern Ontario painting as well as the haunted staircase. I also enjoyed the paint night hosted by Melissa! She was very friendly and engaging! She encouraged everyone and guided us very well. I loved being able to take home a memory of the mountains🏔
