Detailed Reviews
Our apartment was dreary with ripped wallpaper, loose tiles in the bathroom and cracks in the bathroom ceiling. I think someone bought a job lot of brown paint and went mad with it in both the kitchen area and the bathroom. The cooker was quite frankly dangerous (do not stay in 107 if you have small children). We reported the ooker on three occasions with no feedback whatsoever. When using the oven the whole of the cooker heated up as well, we could warm up plates on the hob and even melt butter to start cooking eggs. On two separate days we had no hot water because pipes were frozen!!!
On the plus side housekeeping were good, the bed was really comfortable with decent bed line and it was changed regularly. As other people have commented the sofabed was very uncomfortable to sit on for too long. The noise was a big issue both from people and plumbing.
A lot of investment is needed and we wouldn't,t stay here again till the reviews were much better. On checking out we were not even asked if we had enjoyed our stay.......

The usual great location of Banff, and overall a nice facility, but the new Covid measures need refining. It’s understandable not to have daily service, but if you still charge these rates you need to anticipate needs by length of stay and number of people. For a 4 night booking with 4 adults there should be adequate basic supplies (eg tea bags). An automatic resupply should occur at 2 days without guests having to enumerate every last item required (eg dishwasher tabs). The kitchens are poorly equipped for self catering, lacking some basic utensils and dishes. The bedsheets are ill-fitted. The front desk staff seemed inexperienced and without guidance, especially on the phone. Great location but pricey for the quality and poor service. Covid is not an excuse.

We are currently staying at the Hidden ridge resort. We got the whole week for under 700$ witch in the mountains is very hard to do. The room we are in has a wood burning fire, a large size fridge, pull out couch, nice sized kitchen, and the most amazing views from our walk out patio. The only bad thing about the rooms is the lack for storage for clothing. We are here a week and I hate living out of a bag. The rooms seems a little dated but I like that look when it comes to the mountains.
THE STAFF: From the minute I called to book the trip they were more then welcoming. We also wanted the room done up with rose peddles and such and they were more then willing. When we decided we wanted to stay an extra night we talked with the staff at the front and they were so helpful in finding us the best rate.
Though you don't get any room cleaning during your stay you can ask for whatever you need and they will bring it right over.
The hot tub and warm pool are amazing!
This will be our go to spot from here on out!

We were a little worried about staying at Hidden Ridge because of some of the negative reviews but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Four of us (two couples) stayed for 5 nights in a Premier 2 Bedroom Loft Condo (with 4 Queens). The condo was spacious for 4 adults, clean, bright and airy, and very comfortable. The two bedrooms on the lower level were on the small side but had comfortable beds (Queen bed in each). There is also a loft above the main level with two Queen beds that overlooks the living area and kitchen on the main level. There were two good sized bathrooms, one on the lower level between the bedrooms and the other one upstairs on the main level (the upstairs bathroom even included a washer/dryer which was very convenient!). The kitchen was well-stocked and Wi fi worked great. Our condo included a wood-burning fireplace in the living area.
One of the highlights of Hidden Ridge is the outdoor hot tub and heated pool that has gorgeous views of the Rocky Mountains! There is comfortable outdoor seating and firepits. We enjoyed the hot tub/pool on several evenings during our stay and, IMO, is a must visit. There are fresh towels available near the hot tub/pool. There is also a sauna right next to the hot tub/pool area. The staff were very friendly and helpful and gave us free bus passes when we arrived. Hidden Ridge is located about a mile from Banff village in a quiet, secluded wooded area. You will need to drive, walk or take the bus into Banff village for restaurants, markets, etc. since there is not much near Hidden Ridge. Be aware that if you drive your car into Banff village, you will need to pay for parking (about $3/hour) since there is no free parking that we could find. We would definitely return to Hidden Ridge Resort!

Thank you for your feedback! I am delighted that your stay exceeded expectations and your condo was spacious clean and comfortable for you and your party. Our premier 2 bedroom and loft condos are our largest condo style so are well suited for larger groups or groups that want a bit more privacy and space amongst themselves and are the only condo that come with a washer and dryer inhouse so I'm glad it was so suitable for your visit. I am glad that you enjoyed the wood burning fireplace and pool area - they are definitely two of our guest favorite features! We look forward to seeing you again in the future!

We returned to this resort because it was the first place we’d stayed as a couple 10 years ago.
Sadly, it’s not how we remembered it.
As others have commented, it’s really run down and definitely in need of renovations.
I also noted the comment about the lack of comfortable seating in front of the fire, this is totally true, the couch hurts your legs because the foam cushions are so old.
We had a bottom floor room, which essentially is a basement suit with a walkout, great because you can walk out, but terrible as the people upstairs sounded like a herd of elephants.
A huge concern for us (as fire fighters) was the fireplace, in our opinion there is insufficient ventilation for the combustion of solid fuel. It was impossible to keep the smoke out of the room because of the negative air pressure, we both had sore throats after an hour of trying to open and close various windows and door combinations, the bathroom fan running constantly also exacerbated the negative air pressure.
The flu kept closing on its own due to gravity as there was no resistance to keep it open.
There was only one smoke detector - in the bedroom, the base for the original location was in the hallway, and clearly it had been repositioned into the bedroom with the wires visible. This means the most likely place for the seat of a fire, the living room/kitchen doesn’t have any fire detection, however with the amount of smoke inside we highly doubt it worked in any case. Also of great concern was the lack of a carbon monoxide detector, with such poor ventilation and a back backdraft from the chimney the chance of elevated CO levels is also elevated.
The resort credits itself on being pet friendly, this is not the case. There’s a sign stating dogs are not to be on furniture, left in rooms at any time etc.
We waited until 1800 hours for them to bring the promised dog bed, bowls etc and had to walk to the reception where we joined a line of three other pet owners also waiting for the same.
A friendly chap called Brian took us all to an underground storage unit to collect the beds, it was dirty, the dog beds just thrown on the dirty floor.
We had asked to book in early, but alas, the room wasn’t ready and we waited and waited, past the actual checkin time, and several other people found themselves in the same position.
The young girl who checked us in didn’t have any customer service skills, very glum, we had to return later to get kindling for the fire, she gave us one bundle, when we asked for more she rolled her eyes and turned to pick up another bundle as if it was too much effort, a very vicky pollard moment.
I’m my very humble opinion, the owners have left inexperienced kids to run this resort, it’s not being managed properly, which is a terrible shame as it’s in such a great location.
With better customer service you could perhaps overlook a few negatives, but the way it is now, I would never return here and would suggest you look elsewhere first.

Thank you for your feedback on your recent stay with us. I do apologize that it was such a disappointing experience and did not live up to the expectations from your previous stay 10 years ago. We pride ourselves on outstanding customer service so I am truly disappointed that this was not your experience as this is not feedback I often receive nor represented in our reviews. Our guests are our highest priority so I apologize that this was not what you were shown. I am happy to inform you that we are getting the couches replaced and if there was any other specific disrepair in your condo, I would love if you could contact me so we can ensure this is rectified. Whilst we are an older property, we do wish to upkeep our condos to a high standard. In regards to fire safety, I can assure you that we have regular inspections from the fire department to ensure our equipment and fire safety is up to standard. All our rooms are equipped with carbon monoxide detectors - some are built in with the smoke detector and other condos have separate detectors. I do take these concerns very seriously and ask that you reach out to me directly at pbeardsley@bestofbanff.com so I can locate your reservation and we can ensure the fireplace and flue are functioning correctly and test the detectors in that unit to alleviate any concerns. I hope to hear from you soon.

We stayed in unit 221. The unit is gross! We put a sheet over the couch and a towel on the floor so we could sit down. The fireplace is falling apart in this room so you can expect sparks to pop out. The firewood is cut way to big for the fireplace, I went out and bought a fire log. The coffee maker was broken but with a little ingenuity we got it to make us a cup. The sheets on the bed were stained and there was chewed gum left by the previous guest on the headboard. The kids liked it and the location is good but we just can’t get over how gross it was. We won’t be back and won’t recommend it.

Stayed here the weekend after New Years, for 3 nights. We stayed in a lower level, pet friendly room, 113. As others have said, the decor is a bit dated but we found the room to be very clean and cozy, and the room is quite large, though the bathroom is small. There was a tv in both the living room and bedroom. The fireplace is a really nice touch, and we used it every night we were there, and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook a couple of small meals. They provided a bed, toy, dish and waste bags for our dogs. As other reviewers have mentioned, we were able to hear the people above us, it was pretty loud at times, but reading all the reviews before hand, I brought a small white noise machine for sleeping and it worked like a charm. The jets weren't working in the hot tub, but it was still very comfortable and the views were incredible. The bus passes provided were also very useful, it was nice to not have to call a cab or worry about parking. Staff were friendly and helpful when we encountered them. The only major complaints I have are the couch in our room was incredibly uncomfortable. You sunk right in, and there was basically no support, it was like sitting on a bean bag. This was a bit of a let down when trying to enjoy a fire. The bed and pillows also weren't very comfortable, I'm a side sleeper and had to keep constantly rotating throughout the night because my hips would start to hurt (my partner said the same). It was also quite expensive, considering the negatives. At this price I would have expected something more, at least comfortable furniture, a continental breakfast or happy hour. If the rooms were upgraded a bit to include more comfortable furniture, and sound proofed, I would stay again, but probably wouldn't pay that price again until this happens.

I have borrowed the title from a previous contributor as it sums up the place so well. We booked through Trailfinders and expected some level of quality and oh boy were we disappointed.
Reception was fresh and the staff on the ball. The room was a basement flat. All was dark and gloomy with decades of dirt - old fluorescent light bulbs and a brown theme throughout. It may once have been cream but decades of dirt made it brown. Stains up all the walls cobwebs on the ceiling and toe nails on the floor. The bed smelt fusty.
It felt like a 1980's student flat and a friend confirmed that when they worked for this company they got a perk of a night in the basement flats and enjoyed hours of playing beer pong and I certianly can believe them.
We endured one night and told recpetion we would not stay any longer. They then without hesitation offered us a "better flat". It was light the bed was not fusty and so we took it as faced with moving to another hotel at peak season was very a very expensive alternative.
The accommodation that we had was desperately unmaintined, outdated, and really needs knocking down and rebuilding.

Thank you for your feedback. I am disappointed to hear that your room was not as expected and appeared dirty. All our one bedroom condos are located on the lower level, whereas our one bedroom and loft condos are located on the upper level and would guarantee you a second story condo. Whilst our decor is older with us being an older property, I would like to assure you that we strive to upkeep all our rooms to a high standard and I apologize that the cleanliness appears not to have reflected this. I will pass on this feedback to our housekeeping manager to ensure these gross oversights do not happen again. I am glad that our reception team were on the ball and quickly tried to rectify the situation when we were made aware of your concerns but had we have been aware that you were still disappointed with the alternate room, we could have looked at relocating you to one of our sister properties for a more recently refurbed or hotel style resort to ensure you were able to enjoy your visit for the fullest!

First time at this resort and our family enjoyed it. We use to always go to Douglas Fir Resort, and decided to try Hidden Ridge. It was good choice. We booked a one bedroom condo and it almost has the same layout as Dougla Fir Chalets. Due to Covid 19 which makes things challenging, the staff handles it very well. Pool and hot tub capacity is reduced, staff manges it well so every one has a chance to use facilities. Recommend using it in afternoon, it is always available. Plenty of parking which includes indoor parking. Kitchenette is well equipped along with outdoor grills to make you own meals.
Only thing I would recommend to resort is to stay on top off their icy sidewalks for Guest safety. Most walks were clear but our path to the underground parkade steps were Icy for the two days we were here.
Definately will come back, modern rooms, wood burning fireplace, free wood and friendly staff.

After reading a few less than exemplary recent reviews, we were a bit hesitant to book our stay here. However, SO glad we did! Everything was exceptional. We had a one bedroom suite which was very well outfitted from kitchen items to extra bedding and bathroom supplies. There is a functional fireplace with complimentary firewood! They even had a dog toy and treat for our furry babies. The unit itself was spotless- clean appliances and fridge, felt as though we were the first ones to use many of the items. The beds were very comfortable and there’s a tv in both the living area and bedroom which is convenient.
We purchased a s’mores kit which was a nice option and made for a cozy, memorable evening for the kids The location is mins to downtown and being situated higher up there are exceptional views from the room and pool/hot tub area! The surroundings are quiet and lush. The pool area is such a treat! Gas fireplace and lots of seating and we were able to use both the warm pool and hot tub.
There’s complimentary water/coffee/tea/hot choc. In the lobby which is a nice touch to have while at the pool. Tremendous surroundings overall. We will 100% be staying here again!

Not too bad, and photos show different furnishings/decor in different types of accommodation . No need to be nervous! But we felt that as we were paying quite a lot of money, it would be better if the rooms were brighter, more comfortable and better equipped. Bedrooms ok, setting lovely and staff friendly, as per my review
We were just in the 4 queen, as you walk in there is 2 separate bedrooms with one queen each and a bath and shower, then you walk upstairs there is a bathroom, kitchen, living area, fireplace and balcony, then one more set of stairs to loft with 2 queens, no problems with fireplace lots of firewood and they give firestarter to you, the kitchen has almost everything you need, the only thing they didnt was a cookie sheet, the fridge and microwave worked also.
Yes, depending on when you go. Earlier in the morning they weren’t bad, but throughout the afternoon and evening they were packed.
