Property's Favourite Review
My wife and I stayed at Thea's House in September 2023 and had a fabulous stay. The hosts had thought of so many things to make our stay comfortable and the food was fantastic. If you have to miss a breakfast to get an early start they will make you a lunch, but you really shouldn't miss breakfast. It was a month ago and we are still talking about it. The room was large and had all the amenities. The bed was comfortable. The location in Banff makes for easy walking to all sorts of restaurants and shopping. If we ocme back to the area we will most assuredly stay here again.

Words cannot express our sincerest gratitude to Albert and Esther. Not only did they open their beautiful home to us, but they prepared a 5 Star breakfast every single day. Being there for 8 days we cycled through the entire menu and everything was exceptional. We have been to many bed and breakfasts, but this one is far superior. You will never leave there hungry that’s for sure. Every morning there is a Buffett set out of wonderful cheeses, fruits, cereals, breads, croissants, homemade jams, charcuterie board, and I’m likely leaving a handful of things out. Then each day there is a special hot home cooked item (waffles, stuffed French toast, French omelette, Frittata etc) just to name a few. Everything was wonderful and it’s all displayed so beautifully. We did everything they recommended, which is a huge perk of staying with locals at a B&B. The hikes they recommended allowed us to see the awesome winter wonderland of the Rocky Mountains. The dining options they suggested were top notch and we had an entire week of unique local cuisine, which I’m sure anyone knows it’s hard to find good food while traveling. The rooms are very comfortable, large and quiet. The upstairs was added to include a B&B so the rooms are extremely quiet, which is sometimes rare for a B&B because most are just old homes with paper thin walls that have been converted. Not here. You may hear your neighbors walking down the hall, but that’s about it. I’m pretty sure every room has a wonderful Mountain View of Cascade or Rundle Mountain and each room has a nice balcony to enjoy some fresh mountain air. We enjoyed snacks downstairs in the dining area 24/7, a coffee machine and drinks upstairs in the hall, and a pitcher of filtered water in your room fridge. There is not one detail left out, they have thought of everything. No one will ever leave this place disappointed. Albert and Esther make a point each day to talk to you and they will make your time in Banff outstanding. Do not hesitate to book, just do it. We cannot wait to come back someday.

My fiancee and I stayed with Albert and Esther while we were in Banff. From the time that we checked in to the time we left, we felt right at home. Both Albert and Esther were amazing hosts making us feel like family while we were staying with them. The breakfast that was prepared each morning was 5 stars and a great way to start every day! The rooms were spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The house is in a great location for a short walk into the center of town and only about two blocks away from where the ski bus picks you up. We already can't wait to make a trip back to Banff and we will definitely be staying with Albert and Esther when we do!

B&B really does not do Thea’s House justice, it is an exceptional place to stay in Banff and only a short walk from the centre.
From the off, we received a warm welcome from the owners, Albert and Esther. We had booked a deluxe corner room and the room was fairly spacious and, whilst there was plenty hanging space, drawer space was limited. However, this did not detract from the pleasure we had staying here.
The famous 3-course breakfast was fabulous every morning. In fact there was enough in course 2 to make a packed sandwich lunch and Esther and Albert encouraged this by providing sandwich bags on the table. Although the prices are on the high side (not helped by the weak value of Sterling) the value for money is excellent given all the “extras” that are provided/loaned, for example:- bikes & helmets; snacks and “cake of the day” at the front door; umbrellas; walking poles & rucksacks; water filter in room fridge, wine supply on an “honesty” basis and bear spray!!
Albert and Esther are a font of knowledge on the area having lived in Banff for over 40 years so were able to give excellent recommendations on walks, cycles and restaurants.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and would not hesitate to book again if we are ever in the area.

This bed and breakfast far exceeded my expectations. It was clean, conveniently located a short distance (approximately two blocks) from the tourist main avenue, and the hosts were friendly and helpful. It is clear that they are passionate about their business and genuinely care about the experience of their guests. Albert and Esther checked in to be sure we were comfortable, enquired what our plans were, and offered tips and suggestions.
Albert and Esther served an AMAZING breakfast! Three courses!! It was healthy and far more than any human should consume... but we couldn’t help ourselves to try! Like all of the other reviews state, you will not leave hungry! Hands down the best breakfast I’ve had at a bed and breakfast!
We will certainly stay here again. Esther and Albert certainly look after their guests and do the little things to go above and beyond.

My husband and I went for his birthday celebration this year and it’s honestly the best breakfast we’ve ever had. Albert has different breakfast spreads everyday and all of them are amazing, it’s like having a surprise waiting for you first thing in the morning! The rooms are also equally beautiful and clean and has that rustic mountain feel that’s so apt for a restful getaway in the Canadian Rockies. The bnb is also a short walk from Banff avenue which was so great for walkers like us!
Our experience was so memorable that we already started recommending the place to family and friends. After this stay, we will definitely be back and my husband and I will most likely start staying at bed and breakfasts establishments for our future getaways. ❤️
Thank you Albert and Esther for such a memorable experience!

My wife and I were absolutely charmed by our stay at Thea's house for our honeymoon. The Rundle room was beautful and airy, the bathroom was spacious and full of natual light. Praticularly enjoyed the glass shower, extra large bathtub and Nespresso machine.
Breakfast was next level. Three courses that were as tasty as artful, in a bright and homey atmosphere. We enjoyed chatting with our hosts and the other couples over breakfast.
The setting is perfect. Just a stroll to downtown but set up the hill far enough to feel free of the bustle. Right at the foot of Tunnel Mountain so you can easily start your morning with a stroll for a panoramic view of Banff.
Also free for our use were hiking poles, bear spray, two bikes, hiking guides, and little bags to pack up our leftovers for lunch. Thanks Albert and Esther. We hope to stay again sometime!

My sister and I were really excited to visit (having read all the great reviews) and every expectation was exceeded. Albert and Esther have really thought of every detail to make your time as enjoyable as possible. The rooms are lovely - a really nice view of the mountain (the Rundle Room) and everything is set up so that you have a really comfortable stay. The B&B is also only a couple of minutes stroll from the town and the river is very close (for those who like to fit in a run before starting the day). The breakfasts really are incredible - imaginative, varied and delicious. Both Albert and Esther have lived really interesting lives and are also a joy to chat with. Can't wait to visit again in the future!

The B&B is located about 2 blocks from downtown, a perfect location. Our room was large, bed very comfortable, fireplace to take the chill off when you return from a walk. The hosts are former restaurant owners and it shows in their service and quality of food! Snacks at the entry, coffee machine and kettle in room, fridge - everything you could ask for. Even bottles of wine sold at cost. Albert is a true chef who produced different and delicious 3 course breakfasts every morning. Creme brulee stuffed french toast one day, salmon egg benedict on a potato pancake the next day, a lovely omlet smelling of freshly browned butter on another day. Not only was it all delicious, the presentation was amazing! If you can't eat it all, they provide baggies so you can squirrel some away for a mid day snack. It was the highlight of the day. Esther anticipates your every need. One day I asked for coffee to be heated. The next two days, it came extra hot. My husband likes hot chocolate so she went out and bought a special quality hot chocolate. On our last day, things were in hand so the hosts spent some time conversing with the guests at breakfast. Both were delightful, worldly and interesting.
The only downside was between 11 and 2, there were noisy people on the street (coming home from bars, etc). However I don't know how you can avoid this in a city location.
This is a one of a kind B&B. Not just a place to stay, but a true experience that shouldn't be missed. A bit more expensive than some places but worth every cent.

this was the perfect place to spend our anniversary. with its cozy room, amazing breakfast, and the exceptional hospitality from Albert and Esther, we would recommend this B&B for any occasion.
It was nice that we could walk to the downtown area in minutes one way and walking trails the other. Can't say enough good things about our stay, we will definitely be back for a visit.
