Back to business travel. Had one night here which has recently been updated. Expected an ability to grab a pint after long drive. Nope....lounge still closed. Room is hot with non-functioning aircon. 24 degrees at night. Foam pillows.....arghhh. Room is rather dark and can't see much due to poor lighting and fluorescent compact tubes....and that may be a blessing
We stayed in a Corner Loft Jacuzzi Suite which I thoroughly recommend. The room is large and on a split level, lounge part downstairs and bedroom and jacuzzi upstairs. The room was nicely decorated, bed was comfortable and the jacuzzi was great - lovely relaxing in there after a long day. The bathroom is a little small but jacuzzi does make up for it and you also have another toliet downstairs. Fireplace is also another nice touch - its a working gas fireplace. Only niggles is you can't connect your own device/laptop to the TV to watch what you want and the TV downstairs is located high up so bit of a difficult viewing angle. The indoor pool is more like a large hot tub, its very warm and not a lot of room. The gym is also tiny. The location is great - little bit further from…
Hiya, Had interaction with only front desk and housekeeping and two 👍👍 up. I am up to speed on how hard it is to find staff and both these departments have keepers for sure. Caribou Lodge will be first search on my next visit to Banff area. Cheers Wullie
Hotel was ok overall with a good price point ( for Banff) in an off month. I stayed 3 nights in a superior 2 queen room. It was not busy so was very quiet on the 4th floor. Parking is quite tight but free. Keg restaurant is attached but bar was closed ( separate review). Hotel Staff are friendly and helpful. Room service was efficient and quick. One point needs to be addressed: you can smell wiffs of smoke from the main floor fireplace, on the 4th floor. Not too much of an issue, I guess, except on my last morning it was very bad. My eyes were burning. So bad that I would have left had i not already been checking out that morning. Front desk was aware, as this is apparently a known issue. Is it a safety / health issue? That problem needs to be fixed right away.
Banff, Canada Caribou lodge Paid almost 800$cdn for 2 nights to find 2and bade with hair disgusting. When I called the front desk they didn't really care the guy said I'll send somebody to take a look. I waited but no one showed, so I had to go see them at the front desk and ask them to send some one with me to change the sheets.
We stayed two nights at the Caribou Lodge. The hotel itself is somewhat dated but the rooms are clean and were updated. Service was good. We liked the free parking and how close we were to downtown. The hotel has an indoor hot tub which was nice after a day of hiking.
The good: - The hotel is the first stop for the ski resort buses so you will likely be guaranteed a seat on the way to the resorts and you will be the first drop-off after a long day. - There is also a bus stop for the town transit right outside the hotel and the lobby will give you a ticket to use the transit for free during your stay. Town is only a 15-20 min walk so we did that a few times but we also went up to the Banff Gondola which would have been too far of a walk. - The hotel seems to be clean and functional. - Free coffee in the lobby every morning - Decent restaurant, The Keg, located right on-premises. The terrible: - As other reviews have mentioned, the terrible stench of chlorine throughout, even in the main lobby. The pool guy is clearly getting his balancing…
Although it might be an exaggeration that it is as bad as a World War I muster gas attack, the smell of chlorine/bromine gas in the hall and in our room was really over powering. Spending time in the great out doors and the freshest air in the world and come here and have your nostrils burned by the smell of pool chemicals. It’s not just a little whiff or i wouldn’t have taken the time to warn folks. Called the front desk was told to open my window? These folks should probably invest in better pool area ventilation.
Heater not working properly in room and I complained several times. They said there was an extra blanket in the room, there was no blanket. Said they would bring a portable heater, never did get one. They basically just ignored the problem. Outside temperature was -20C and room temperature never rose above 18C. Baseboard heater barely worked. The staff at the desk did not really seem to care and could only say, "I am Sorry". That is not acceptable. At checkout I complained once again and was offered a very small discount. I told them I would never stay there again.
Spent three days here over Christmas and had a lovely time. With Covid you must be prepared to be accommodating and pivot as necessary. Location is great, right on Banff Ave. It's near the end of the street, but still very close to town centre. Easy walk, except when it's -30° and that walk feels very long!! Lol! Dress warmly!! We arrived early and they were able to find us a room right away which we truly appreciated! Would not have been my first choice of rooms (near elevator and vending). But we didnt ask to be moved as we were grateful for them accommodating us and overall it truly was very quiet. (Despite noisy guests who slammed their doors continually at 6 am on Christmas morning...sigh! Nothing to do with the hotel...I wish people were more cognizant of being…
