Brewster's Mountain Lodge garners praise for its prime location in downtown Banff, with guests appreciating the rustic charm of its lodge-style atmosphere. The staff's friendliness stands out, although opinions on service vary, especially regarding housekeeping and breakfast. While many find the rooms to be clean and spacious, others express concerns over noise and outdated features. The value proposition is met with skepticism, as some guests feel the price doesn't align well with the amenities and overall experience.

Very central hotel to all amenities, staff very friendly and booked the gondola for us. The room we got was at the back which was not good for a light sleeper like me as the bin lorries came very early in the morning, although my wife slept through it all. The room and decor throughout had a rustic feel which we liked and the rooms well cleaned! Breakfast was continental not your usual fare but nonetheless served a purpose although there are loads of restaurants nearby if you want better. We would return again but I would definitely look a room change!

Great location in the center of downtown Banff. The hotel is close to many restaurants and shops. There are also grocery stores and pharmacy closer by if needed.
The staff welcomed us cheerfully and were very helpful in our transportation planning since we did not have a car. There is a local “Roam” bus that has several stops through town as well as stops at all of the local tourist areas. There is parking under the hotel if needed. Our room was clean and nice. It was not super fancy but in keeping with the lodge style. The room has a clothing rail with iron and a dresser to unpack your clothes, coffee pot and an electric tea kettle along with coffee, tea, cream, sugar. Toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion are provided so no need to pack those.
It was unseasonably warm while we were there and there was a fan in the room which we used the entire time we were there. The staff brought a mini fridge to the room within 10 minutes of the request and a bath mat for the tub so my mom would not slip while showering.
Included with the room is a daily continental breakfast with a few hot items that change daily. There is hot oatmeal and toppings daily. The staff in the breakfast room were very friendly and always said “good morning”. There was a space for your dishes and they asked that the table be cleared. The dining area was always clean. I would suggest moving the toaster to a different location if possible as there was a bit of a log jam there but otherwise the breakfast was a great start to our days of tours and hiking.
Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely stay here again. Thank you to the many staff members who helped us figure out how to get where we wanted to go in a timely manner. We found we really did not need a car as long as we planned ahead with bus schedules.

Really helpful front desk staff
Breakfast continental and adequate choice of cereals, Toast , Bagels fruit and pastries enough to keep you going through until lunch .
Rooms are a little dark ,and tired but are clean and the bed comfortably, plugs in weird places , shower really powerful. Rooms are not made up until late in the afternoon when we was there it was about 5pm after we had been out for the day and wanted to relax this needs to be a priority earlier in the day ! Parking for the night is roughly $18 a night but the hotel is very central for all the amenities in Banff .

Although the hotel enjoys a very central location right in the heart of downtown Banff, there were a few niggles which you wouldn't expect when spending nearly ÂŁ390 GBP (around $680 CAD) a night on this kind of hotel.

The reception team were very helpful and greeted us warmly. The hotel benefits from parking which is underground, and can be difficut to find so make sure you book that in advance.

The main reason we picked this hotel was that it included breakfast, something which is very rare in North American hotels I find. I can see why they do this, as it felt somewhat of a gimmick. The breakfast room, called The Nook, is basically a room with no windows in the underground carpark. It's also access via the underground car park so not terribly appealing. You also have to clear your own tables...like a some kind of school canteen style environment!

The breakfast offering itself is very basic as others have commented. There was some pastries, one flavour of yogurt, some dried up orange slices, cucumber, tomato, breads, cereals and 2 hot items a day which didn't always belong together. Others have commented on the position of the two toasters in the room, which are tucked in a corner amongst everything else which is far from ideal and caused bottle necks most mornings.

The bit we found most disappointing about our stay was the room and the housekeeping service. As we say, this not a cheap hotel by any means. Therefore, the bathroom could really have done with a full update and overhaul. It was very 70's in style, tired and dated. We also found the towels were worn and sometimes didn't look the cleanest. The rooms also do not have a fridge, this caused us a big issues trying to keep some medication we needed to be cool. We had to resort to ice buckets being changed constantly.

The rooms have a kettle for making hot drinks, but no plug socket near by that's long enough to use without having the ketting left on the floor, not the best from a safety perspective.

The wardrobe was basically a hanging rail by the door, that was it. There is a iron which was helpful.

Most disappointing was the attention to detail by the house keepers. We found they turned up very late each day, and forgot to replace basics like coffee stirrers, which of course you only notice when it's too late! They do not make your bed.... when I'm paying this much for a hotel room, I'd kind of like my bed made as even budget brands do this!

The amount of laminated signs around the hotel giving various instructions was also a little off putting and tacky... not needed.

Overall, I would not return as I didn't think it was good value, and I would not recommend.

We are sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations. I will address some of the issues you have listed and we wish you would have made us aware of this while in house so we could have had the chance to rectify some of these complaints. First off, we do have fridges available upon request at no extra charge, our standard rooms don't come with fridges but the rest of our rooms do. We have the breakfast room where it is so we could use as much space for our beautiful hotel rooms. We have also added more items to the breakfast menu and started a rotating menu to elevate our complimentary breakfast, we are also located right downtown with lots of restaurants all around us. If you would have let us know that you wanted housekeeping service done at a specific time and your beds made then we would have made sure that happened for you.

First, rooms have no A/C. We lucked out staying the 1st week of Sept and the weather was mild to cool so we did not need A/C. In fact we had to run the heat at night and it worked perfectly. We opted for a Deluxe King room since we stayed 8 nights; it was enough room for 2 adults with enough storage & space for all our things. Everything was clean and worked except the bathroom door rubbed the frame that made a loud screeching noise every time you closed it. The next morning we told the front desk and that night when we came home it was fixed! Don’t know how they did it so fast but we were extremely grateful. Comfortable bed & linens. The bathroom was adequate and we appreciated the Jacuzzi tub. Mini fridge was plenty large for our supplies and leftovers. Our room on the 2nd floor next to the elevator was quiet; never heard folks in rooms or the elevator. Our room also opened to a shared patio that was very nice and quiet. Housekeeping was hit or miss; some days towels were not fully replenished and/or tea was not restocked but it was the exception not the norm. The free breakfast was adequate; when we got there early every morning it was fully stocked with plenty of places to sit. It’s the same menu every day but we were able to make the best of it and get some variety. We paid for the onsite underground parking and it was well worth the extra expense as parking is expensive in Banff. It’s a tight squeeze but if you go slow and are careful, you should be OK (unless you drive a Hummer). The hotel is in a great location in the heart of it all. Tons of places to eat within 1 block of the hotel. Can’t recommend in the summer because no A/C but if you go during cool/cold weather, it’s recommended.

Stayed here for four days while visiting Banff. This location is very central and includes parking for $12/night for guests. The spaces are pretty tight but we were able to park our Ford Escape. Parking is located in a garage around the corner. There is a mini fridge in the room but no microwave. We had a jacuzzi in our room which was really nice but slow to fill; note that only bath salts are allowed (which is provided). Daily housekeeping was included. There is a TV and the room was spacious. Beds were comfortable and the thermostat worked. There’s a coffee machine with coffee and tea provided. Breakfast is free and includes hot items like frittatas as well as standard items like cereals and bagels. There’s a toaster there. A microwave is also available down there. There is one elevator in the hotel but note that if your room is in the 100s, you’ll need to take stairs.

We were diverted to Banff from Jasper due to forest fires and were due to stay at this hotel 2 days later called them to add two extra days only to be quoted $1100 for two nights bed and breakfast. Realised after a while that pretty much everywhere in Banff is expensive even though the hotel is only 3 star level.

Check in is not until 4 pm and your luggage is just left under an open staircase, it is in view of the reception staff but when we came back to take something out of our cases nobody asked who we were.

The room was a good size, ensuite had a shower over the bath, TV reasonable size, heating but no AC, a safe but no fridge included

There is an eating area in the basement not many tables so might be a problem if very busy. Breakfast was included it is fairly basic but certainly better than nothing if your expectations are low you will find it fine.

A previous hotel we stayed in Banff gave out free local bus passes but the Brewsters does not it would have been a cheap small gesture we would have appreciated.

The hotel is situated among the bars and restaurants there was some late night noise but on the whole it was well sound proofed.

Brewsters is a 3 star standard at 5 star prices but you have to pay Banff rates so expect to pay that everywhere.

Staying in Banff, we were hoping for a room with a view but ended up with a view of a yard quadrant serviced by local restaurants. We should have suspected there would be noise when we saw ear plugs were laid out at the bedside. Having said that, the staff were lovely and the breakfast buffet had a wide range of hot and continental with lovely home-baked pastries (sweet and savoury). As Autumn was approaching, it was nice to have fresh oatmeal each morning. It was a little confusing working out the layout of the hotel but as long as you follow the signage, you won't get too lost!
Banff is so busy, we had to pay for parking but it wasn't too expensive, and being in the centre of town, it is well placed for good eateries.
The visitor centre was worth a look as they gave us important advice for walks and staying safe from wildlife - its easy and affordable to hire bear spray, so please do it (we heard of a fatal attack just a few days later in a neighbouring county).
To view black bears and elk safely, drive out at dusk to the golf course!

This hotel has no air conditioning in room and because it is in the downtown Banff area having windows open means too much noise at night for sleeping. Staff friendly, room tidy with a unique wooden furniture style. Shower and toilet room facilities very dated and free continental breakfast offering is very limited and served in an unappealing basement area. The hotel was booked months in advance and still cost around $700 (US) a night and we don’t know how they justify that price compared with e.g. the Sutton, and Hyatt in Vancouver.

We are sorry to hear that we didn't meet your expectations. Most places in Banff do not have AC because of the cool temperatures 8-9 months of the year. We did recently install AC for the common areas like the lobby and hallways to help keep the building cooler during the seldom heat waves we receive in the summer months.

This hotel was chosen by our agent as part of a package. Our previous hotel had been Sutton Place in Vancouver and to say there is no comparison is a massive understatement.
It did have some plus points though not many.
The location was excellent, right in the centre
The staff were helpful (apart from on check-in)
The fresh daily cookies were delicious
The bed was very comfortable

There were more minus points however.
No air conditioning and being in the centre of town meant the windows could not really be left open. We did have a fan which helped somewhat
The furniture was dated and too bulky for a not very large room
The room was rather dingy
No fridge
The room was poorly located next to the lift. There were some very inconsiderate guests having loud conversations at all times (though this is not the hotel's fault)
The toiletries were of poor quality and the towels were thin. One even had a large hole in it
The safe was in a very unusual position - you had to stand on a chair to reach it unless you were over 6 feet tall
The breakfast items were poor quality, though they were well stocked at all times

We do not know what the agent paid for the original 3 nights we were booked for but because of the wildfires in Jasper we had to stay another night which we had to pay ourselves. We were charged ÂŁ350 for the extra night and the room was certainly not worth that. We did not even get a change of bed linen for that amount!!
I would recommend looking elsewhere if you are staying in Banff.
