When we decided to visit Banff for a few nights I was looking for something “not touristy” and found it here. We don’t often “go off the grid” but this little piece of Heaven is worth a few nights of being unplugged. The property is over 100 years old, having been added to and updated to make it cozy but authentic to their mission. Cabin was compactly comfortable with a king bed, small table and two chairs, comfortable leather love seat near the wood burning fireplace. Footed tub was perfectly suited for the cabin ambiance. Fireplace was set for first night’s fire and a bundle of additional firewood is included for each night’s stay. Cabin is self-check-in with plenty of towels, etc. The bed was extremely comfortable.
The main lodge building is open from 7:30 am until 9:00 pm. An ala carte breakfast of fruit, pastries, yogurt is offered with complimentary coffee & tea. Their small bistro offers hikers packed lunches and light bites in the afternoon. Their dining room requires reservations in advance and offers a 5-course dinner with several options in each course at a fixed price of CAD 98/pp. You can pick and choose ala carte off the nightly menu if you choose. Our dinner started with a homemade grain bread with a berry/butter spread followed by the best mushroom bisque we’ve ever eaten. A palate cleanser of mango sorbet came next. Our mains were grilled Arctic char and leg of lamb. The accompanying vegetables were perfectly cooked and very flavorful. Our dessert choices were a cheesecake with fruit or a chocolate volcano! To say this meal was fabulous is an understatement and a total surprise in such a remote location. Lots of wine & select whiskey choices were available in the dining room and at the bar. Our waitress, Clina, was a delight to chat with as well. All the limited staff we met were friendly and helpful.
If you’re looking for a unique adventure in the Banff area, this is a perfect spot!

We stayed for 4 nights, booked the cabin as a bucket list stay for us and it met our expectation, cosy and rustic. The staff in the lodge were lovely and friendly. We bought breakfast a couple of days which was nice and fresh, the complimentary coffee was appreciated. Cabin was clean and very warm, only grumble would be the shower curtain was a bit musty, other than that we enjoyed our stay and would recommend for anyone wanting a rustic off the grid stay. Peace and quiet in the mountains

My wife and I (seniors) stayed two nights in the Pine Cabin - Queen Bed and Shower the last week in June 2022. The room was smaller than expected based on pictures I had seen but we were quite comfortable. Others have mentioned traffic noise but based on our cabin's location we heard no traffic noise. Storm Mountain Cabins are located a very short distance down Hwy 93 and midway between Banff and Lake Louise which makes it's location quite convenient and is away from all the crowds of people visiting Banff.
Others have commented positively on the meals at Storm Mountain. I concur that the meals we had at dinner were wonderful. We had the Bison tenderloin, the Trout, shared a salad and had the chocolate dessert. All the different flavors made it a meal we will remember. We also enjoyed sitting in the two red chairs located by the Lodge/Office and soaking in the view across the highway of Storm Mountain.

Everything about Storm Mountain Lodge and Cabins was charming and idyllic. The cabins and lodge were wonderfully decorated. Cabin was smaller than expected, but it’s all part of the experience and history of the cabins! In the summer especially this doesn’t matter as almost all of your time will be spent outside.
The location of the cabins was perfect (20-30 min to most spots in town and Lake Louise) and the highway nearby didn’t bother us. The food at the lodge was beyond delicious! We dined there twice during our stay and both felt that it was probably the best meals we’ve ever had.

We were so excited about this stay…. The cabin is really typical and very nicely decorated, however we absolutely did not understand how to regulate the heating. The bed was against a wall, so you have to choose who won't get up during the night... The first evening, the vehicles drove all night on the road and it was really very noisy. We also encountered problems with the fact that we were charged the amount for three nights instead of two, this was finally resolved...The restaurant is excellent in terms of food but very poorly managed in terms of reservations. We reserved a table when we booked our stay, a year in advance. We were placed at the worst table in the restaurant, near the access to the kitchen. We refused to move near the window. We were thinking of having the large menu with matching wines, but that was out of the question at such a poor little table. It's really regrettable, especially at the price of the stay. Too bad…

Storm Mountain presents itself as an idyllic and secluded getaway which is what it could have been. The cabins are unique, rustic and recently maintained. However they are close to the highway and so you can hear it quite easily and the cabins are pretty much all next to each other - curious as to why they couldn’t have been 100 yards further in overall and individually set back further. An enquiry about WiFi access yielded a very curt “we don’t do WiFi” which is a shame for those who might still need it on a weekday especially since mobile reception is poor. Dinner was a very high standard and portions were a good size although our reservation time was quite delayed. Interesting to have stayed but given the price next time would stay elsewhere but come here for dinner.

Very quaint old fashioned little lodges and a wonderful restaurant. We ate dinner there one night and it was right up there with one of the best meals of our 3 week holiday. Only negative comment is as others have said, the location is right on the main road. 100 years ago when the lodges were first built this of course wouldn’t have made much noise but now you can hear the lorries from inside. However it did not detract from our stay. Free hot drinks is a bonus, lovely staff and it’s great so many ingredients are locally sourced, a fact the team are very proud of.

My husband and I spent two nights in one of the cabins here (our third visit) in March. We love the simplicity of the log cabin with wood burning fireplace and the coziness of the main lodge. Our dinners were fantastic each evening and wonderful service. The staff were friendly and very hard working. We were especially impressed to hear that they were short a chef so the manager was acting as sous chef. Everything we ate was presented beautifully and with great flavour. The Irish girl working there was especially warm and made the experience even nicer. We were even treated to a beautiful show of the Aurora Borealis in the sky above all night long.

Storm Mountain Lodge and Cabins is a great getaway from the rat race. It is quaint and rustic, so if you’re not into rustic, this might not be the place for you. Set across from Storm Mountain and just around from Castle Mountain, it couldn’t be in a lovelier spot. The cabins are small but adequate and charming, and the food is delicious! Their dinner menu was a fixed price but it was all fantastic. Be sure to make dinner reservations even if you’re staying there. You will need your own transportation as it is not on a bus line nor is it in a town. We didn’t have one (long story) so we hired a taxi from Lake Louise. There is a rough hiking trail around part of the property, but if you’re going for hiking you will want to drive to other locations. The staff was very friendly and helpful and very interesting to chat with. Overall it was a lovely stay.

We stayed 2 nights and here is my feedback : self check in and self check out. Why as there are employees but you go and grab your key hidden somewhere. We wanted to have diner there but the restaurant was fully booked. We are guests of the hotel so they could ask us when we reserve if we want to have diner (was was good and fresh) So we had to order the food to eat in our cabin which is fine as the balcony is lovely with a nice view. But we had to go and grab the food and then bring back the diner to the restaurant. At night it was lovely to do a fire in the cabin but you can use only 1 set of woof and if you wish to use more, you have to pay 10$. When you pay the cabin 400$ per night, I find it a bit too much. I like having human connections when I stay in a hotel so I was frustrating with this experience. It would have been nice to meet people from the resort and discuss, we felt lonely!

Best ask the hotel about Christmas Day but would be surprised if it wasn’t. You are right that if snowed in there is nowhere to walk to but I am sure they are prepared for that.
Breakfast isn't included or at least wasn't for me, perhaps depends on the booking.
The whole place is secluded as it's the only place there, no other hotels, shops etc. The cabins are nicely spaced apart but not miles away from each other. I never heard anything from the cabins or from the nearby highway.
There are more places to choose from in the Banff area.
