Guests have called out the hotel's prime location and the convenience of complimentary bus passes for exploring the surrounding area. And to enjoy this sensational view, treat yourself to a room with a view. That's the highlight.
The rooms in the newly built hotel complex are very large and rather Canadian furnished with carpet, wallpaper and kitchenette. Cars can be parked free of charge. Downtown Banff can be reached in 20 to 30 minutes. The free city bus also stops in front of the hotel.
The hotel staff is very friendly and also gives good hiking tips. We were very pleased.

As the hotel is new it is clean and comfortable. The view on higher floors is amazing. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful, but a few were very cold and abrupt. There is free parking and a bus pass is provided for local transport. If staying longer than 3 days you can request another pass. Bear spray was also available to borrow. We booked this hotel as it was new but really wanted to use the hot tubs and laundry facilities as we were travelling to different areas. The hotel tubs and guest laundries are still not ready at the end of September.

We stayed at the Hotel Canoe for 4 nights and would definitely recommend! We were coming into town from Calgary, so it was very easy to get off the highway and the Hotel Canoe was the first hotel as soon as we got to town! It is on the far end of town, as far away from the hustle of downtown Banff Avenue as you can be, which means it was quiet! We were very pleased with check in and our complimentary tea bags from Jolene's Tea House provided right there at the desk. (The tea was so good we found the Tea House downtown and made sure to buy plenty to take home with us!) Parking was easy and free, which is becoming more and more uncommon these days. Our room was beautiful and our balcony faced the spectacular Cascade Mountain, so we spent lots of time after long days sitting on the balcony and enjoying the views while drinking our tea. We were also provided with free Roam Transit passes, which we ended up using quite a lot, and the bus stop was right in front of the hotel which made it so easy to plan out when to meet the bus or when our feet hurt after a day full of walking to know the bus was going to drop us right in front of our hotel. Highly recommend this hotel and we will definitely be back!

Room Tip: The hotel is still under construction, but there was no construction noise over the weekend.

We arrived late at night due to our flight. Right when we got in the room a security guard came to bang on our door at 4 in the morning, claiming they were hearing too much noise. My partner briefly explained that we had to shower, settle in, and the possible noise could be from getting ourselves settled. The security guard questioned if we were at the bar, when we just arrived, and threatened to evict us if we continued to be loud. The security guard tried to put their foot in our hotel room door and treated my partner aggressively. I was still showering during the time they wanted to come in the room. We instantly went downstairs to tell the manager that they tried to put their foot in the door and that the security treated us very poorly and unprofessionally. The security guards would not even tell us where the lobby was and this could be a safety hazard if a fire occurred. The security guards found it funny and it was very gross to witness. The hotel itself is beautiful but the security will try to intimidate you and make you feel uncomfortable. Then the manager tried to apologize the next day, saw the footage on the cameras and wanted to treat us with a $30 breakfast gift-card sent by their whole team. I did not allow this to ruin my vacation but the fact that they were so strict on the slightest noise was madness. Beware travellers! Never had such a unprofessional experience.

As other reviews mentioned, there is ongoing construction at the hotel. Although some of the amenities such as the pool, sauna, and laundry facilities were advertised to be open in "Summer 2024," by the end of June they were still not open. Other members of our party got stuck in rooms that face other rooms however we thought we lucked out by getting a room facing the mountain. Honestly not much the look at but what made it actually worse than the other rooms was the construction going on. They start right around 7:30am so be aware if you want to sleep in. There was no construction during the weekend however.

The hotel was overall clean including the rooms except upon check-in. There was hair on the shower walls, a dead bee under one of the pillows on the bed, the sofa bed was not clean (thankfully they provided additional clean sheets). However, subsequent cleanings by the staff were decent. They once forgot to empty the trash cans.

Instead of providing a coffee maker in the room such as a Keurig, they offer pour over coffee service. The day before, you must request the coffee/tea/milk service and they will drop off the supplies in the morning for you to make your own coffee.

Other than the night we checked in, the front desk staff was cold and not friendly during our 5-night stay. Staff/baristas at the Sudden Sally coffee bar were also not friendly. However, we had breakfast a couple times in the actual restaurant and our server was great. She was friendly and always checked up on us, making sure we were okay.

In summary, the hotel was expensive for what you get especially with none of the amenities available for us to use. Sure the hotel and rooms are clean but that might be due to the fact that the hotel is new. Time will tell. It could be good for groups because they provide direct access paths or "tunnels" between each of the buildings so you never have to go outside to get from one building to the next.

Honestly, best part of the hotel was breakfast at the restaurant.

Overall, this is a very good hotel in easy walking distance to downtown Banff. The parking was easy, room was very clean. Really liked the decor of the bathroom and the products supplied. The major downside of this hotel is the in-room coffee. They have a "coffee program" where you choose the blend of coffee you want to do pour-over coffee in the room. I was in Banff to hike - leaving very early in the morning. The last thing I want to do is a pour-over coffee that both takes time and goes cold almost instantly before heading out for a sunrise hike. If the cafe was open early, this would not be a problem but they dont open until 6:30am. Please reconsider this part of your offering - while charming - it misses the moment that most of your clientele are there to head out and enjoy the outdoors bright and early. A slow pour-over coffee process is not well suited for this timing.

This hotel is fabulous, light and airy, friendly, perfectly located in Banff, and with a great restaurant called Sudden Sally! The assistant manager Ryan gave us a great overview of the restaurant, it's Heritage and a delicious voyage through the menu. We had the chicken wings and scotch egg beautifully presented and a great portion size (we only wanted a light bite and thus did the job, but they do have an extensice yummy sounding menu) We washed it down with beer and their famous G&T, which is a real treat.
You will not be disappointed with this hotel, its facilities, its food and most importantly it's staff who want you to experience the best.
I believe its sister hotel next door (the Otter) is just as good.
Please take this as a true and accurate reflection of our stay.
Enjoy yourselves
I've attached the poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson from which the restaurant is named x

Hotel Canoe is a modern property on the edge of Banff town, easily walkable to other hotels, restaurants and the main business area. There’s indoor and outdoor parking, a really nice restaurant and coffee shop, outdoor hot tubs, fire pit, sauna and great views of the mountains from the east facing rooms. Our room was spacious, had a gas fireplace, balcony, refrigerator, microwave, AC and Rocky Mountain toiletries. Good WiFi, comfy bed and lots of towels. It was a pleasure having a good breakfast in the restaurant before going skiing every day. Buses connecting to local destinations stop across the street from the hotel and buses to the ski hills leave from a nearby stop as well. Banff is a wonderful destination at any time of year for outdoor enjoyment and for some of the best restaurants and bars in western North America. Hotel Canoe would be a good choice for an outstanding place to stay.

We stayed here for 4 days and we have had a blast. The rooms are spacious for families (travelling with our 7yo) with a king size bed, fireplace and a pull out sofa queen size bed + balcony (didnt use, too cold!). Overall really happy. We ended up speaking to a lot of Canadian locals in the hot tub who rate this place highly also. The hot pool and sauna is operational and is a great highlight of the hotel after a days trail walking. The hotel has a good value breakfast and dinner selection and a coffee bar. Across the road is the Co-op supermarket and gas station so its in a really handy location.
One small thing to consider as a family is the hotel provides bus passes to access the transit bus into town (maybe a 15 min walk at most). However on a Saturday night the buses only run every hour so it can be a little tricky getting back if its raining. As other reviewers have said, its a great place, we agree.

A fabulous new hotel on the edge of the town, (20-30 mins walk to centre) a regular bus stops right outside (hotel provided free bus tickets for the duration of our stay).
The staff were fabulous, friendly and efficient.
The room was spacious had plenty of storage, very comfortable beds, small dining table & 2 chairs plus a lounge chair, a balcony with furniture and a fabulous bathroom with great products.
The convenience of a small fridge, microwave and kettle in the room with a selection of speciality teas and fabulous fresh ground coffee daily.
Only negative was bedroom doors, patio doors and the housekeeping cupboard doors are loud when they close.
Many more positive features which have not mentioned. I would not hesitate to book again.
