Castle Mountain Chalets is celebrated for its roomy, well-appointed accommodations and the inviting atmosphere accentuated by wood stoves and fireplaces. Nestled in a prime location, guests rave about its proximity to Lake Louise and Banff's attractions, as well as the picturesque surroundings. While the cabins' cleanliness and friendly staff receive commendations, some visitors have encountered booking snafus and sporadic service inefficiencies. Despite the tranquil setting, a few guests recommend earplugs due to train noise. Although the overall experience is considered cozy and comfortable, some travelers question the value, citing steep prices.

We were welcomed ahead of check in time to an extremely pleasant room very well prepared with all the amenities we needed and a gorgeous fireplace set with kindling and wood for a fire. The location is adjacent to beautiful Castle Mountain and allows for biking, hiking and very comfortable relaxation. It was a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of busy life and allowed for lots of activity without being apprehensive about the coronavirus. Highly recommended!

My husband and I stayed at the Chalets for three nights midweek for a short ski holiday. The location was only 20 minutes from great xc and downhill skiing at Lake Louise. The chalet is very spacious with a big wood fireplace, full kitchen, large bathroom and nice sized bedroom. High end soaps were provided along with thick soft towels and a very comfortable bed with good pillows. The kitchen had all the basic tools we needed to make our own meals. The store had some basic supplies if you forget anything. We didn’t make use of the outdoor fire pits as we enjoyed the chalet fireplace from the comfy couch. Because of Covid restrictions, we had very little interaction with staff, but we had no real need as the chalet had everything we needed. The rail line runs very close to the resort and because of the road crossing adjacent to the resort, the trains blow their horn before crossing. This happens almost hourly, day and night. We were disturbed by this our first night, but must have become used to the sound as it was far less disturbing the subsequent nights. If you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs. Regardless of the train, we will be back as the chalet was such a great home away from home and we now know and can deal with the trains.

Our family visited as a first trip with our new 4 month old baby and we’re very impressed with the service! Any questions were promptly answered over email and they provided our dog with a bed, treats, and dishes. The wood fire place put off tons of cozy heat and the area was a great amount of room for a small family of 3 plus a dog for the two nights(mountain pine lodge). Each cabins window placement was strategic so you weren’t peering into others cabins. I originally thought the train would be annoying but it really didn’t bother us or even wake us or the baby up! Would gladly stay again and have already recommended to lots of our friends!

We stayed in a 1 bedroom cabin with 2 adult children and 2 dogs. We were not crowded (but my wife and I had the bedroom with the dogs). Central to the living area is a large wood burning fireplace. Every morning the staff would deliver a large bundle of wood with kindling. It was wonderful. The kitchen is complete but bring your own spices. The location is ideal- half way between Banff and Lake Louise. Although it is at a busy highway intersection, the cabins are very well sound-proofed. The staff are pleasant and helpful. They were always masked and careful to have hand sanitizer easily available. The cabins could double their rates and it would still be a good deal.

Had a wonderful stay. We stayed in the Pine Chalets. The cabin was extremely clean, the grounds are well kept. We had fire wood left on our door step every morning for our fire place, whatever you needed the staff were willing to grab it for you no problem. The location is beautiful, right between the mountains and next to a train track between Banff and Lake Louise. The kitchen is well equipped with cutlery, pots, pans and dishes. Will definitely be going back in the near future!

This was an amazing experience. The cabin was set up with everything you could need minus clothes and food. The provided soap and shampoo smelled amazing, lots of lemongrass, there were bathrobes provided with a decent amount of firewood and tinder for the wood stove as well! I highly, HIGHLY recommend you rent for at least one night but you'll want to extend this to 2 or more once you're there.

First off, my rating is not a reflection on the staff or the cleanliness of the property. Both were excellent. Castle Mountain Chalets is a three-star property in a five-star location. There’s nothing wrong with that; just be aware of what you’re getting into. The cabins are rustic, as renovations and retrofits have been uneven. Know that the Wi-Fi isn’t the speediest and that you may wind up standing ankle deep in water at the end of your shower as you wait for the tub to drain. If you’re a light sleeper, bring earplugs, because you will be about a city block away from the railroad tracks and an uncontrolled crossing where the train is required to announce its presence. Earplugs are also important if you are visiting in the winter, as the furnace may also wake you up. All that being said, the bed was great, the place was quiet, the staff was very helpful, and there’s a store with a gas pump on site. I have no problem recommending the place, just remember that you will be paying a premium for the location, not for any luxurious extras.

This was our third time staying at Castle Mountain Chalets but the first time in summer and the first time in the log cabins. Spacious and clean, the log cabins are a step above the cedar chalets due to larger bathrooms, separate bedrooms and stone fireplaces and proximity to BBQ's and store, etc. Store is well stocked with everything from fun, rare candy to a good selection liquor, wine and beers. We also found some great food in the store including meat pies there which were a nice with a pasta salad, all purchased and prepared in the cabin kitchen.
We also like the location as the chalets are located practically at the trail head for Rockbound Lake, Silverton Falls and the Bow Valley Parkway.

We really enjoyed the large, open 1 bedroom chalet. Perfect for a home base for getting out and also large enough to spend the while day inside snowbound. The kitchen was very well equipped with all the dishes and utensils we needed. Staff were welcoming and the cabin was very clean. Plentiful supply of wood. for the fire. Elk grazing outside our window in the evening. Great.

One note, other than this it would have been 5 stars: the cabins are adjacent to a major rail line. The train itself isn't too loud but if you are a light sleeper the whistle may waken you at night...

Not fancy but comfortable and well-equipped cabins. Our group of 4 really enjoyed our 4-night stay, especially the location - so close to ski hills, as well hiking and cross country ski trails. We cooked dinner for ourselves every night saving us some $ and preventing exposure to Covid in restaurants. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom with its Rocky Mountain Soap Co. products were appreciated. We could have used a few more pots/pans. There was a recycling container but no where to take it for recycling? I asked at the office but the very nice staff member didn't know either so into the trash bin it went. The train noise was not a problem for us bc we didn't open the windows (winter). Stay here!

There is also shuttle parking. You can park in a lot which is well marked and there is a free shuttle that can take you to Lake Louise. If you are not up at the Lake Louise parking lot by 9:00 am it can sometimes be a challenge to park.

The only rooms we can guarantee have had no pets in them are the Suites located above the main lodge. They have a gas fireplace as well jetted tubs in them.
