Hotel is cool but they gave our room away and stuck us in a lower value room and refused to give a discount. Get the impression that we are busy so tough . Chilis restaurant was great good food and great servers. Might have been the night manager on the desk that just did not care.
this hotel is not worth the high price commanded , the room was very tired, small poor facilities within the room, the lobby toilets doors don't close, lift took 20 mins each time, breakfast was appalling - a dried bun with cheese and a slice of tomato, possibly worst breakfast we have experienced. No concierge, no one on from desk to help with checkout, upon ringing the bell they promptly appeared.
Stayed 3 nights in a 1 bedroom suite with a balcony. Room was a decent size for Banff and room was clean when we checked in. Balcony faced Banff ave, so was a great spot for some hot chocolate in the evenings :) Storage is big enough for a few sets of ski gear, and it has a nice fireplace and a little table to eat at if you wish. Came with basic utensils/plates, microwave, fridge, coffee maker and kettle. Bed was ok a little on the hard side for me but that's subjective. The "hot tub" is amazing as it is a cave like area to represent the cave and basin and was wonderful to relax in at the end of the day. Chili's restaurant onsite and I forgot how much I forgot how much I missed Chilis until I ate here and we had Fajitas and Margaritas! Staff were friendly, check in was quick so nothing really bad to say about the Fox. ROAM tickets for free and bus stop for ROAM and ski bus stops right at the front door make it very convenient. Keep in mind that the rooms have doors that are outside so you might have to walk through the weather, and the underground parking is a bit tight but overall la great place to stay that I would recommend. …
This hotel is very cute. The decor and style of the hotel match the area of Banff very well. Room was very clean, staff was friendly. The grotto is really cool. The location is really good, just a few blocks from “downtown “ , away from the busy part, easy walk. The one complaint I have is that the walls are a little thin. We could hear our neighbours pretty clearly until late. I should have called the front desk to tell them since it was after “quiet time”, but I didn’t realize they had a rule about that until the last morning. I was however impressed that there is a quiet policy, I wish I knew if they enforce it. I would stay again.
This property is my favourite place to stay while in Banff. My friends from the USA and I spent six days exploring the area. We were accommodated with a last minute room upgrade to a Loft suite on our arrival. The view from each window and the balcony were breathtaking. Our days started with a delicious breakfast and finished with a dip in the grotto pool. The staff were knowledgeable about local attractions to explore. They each added to our collective experience with the hotel stay and our overall stay. Highly recommend this property.
We stayed at The Fox for a few days while travelling across Canada. Late October, so off-season, prices were pretty good (compared to some of the garbage motels we encountered on our trip) Some rooms are pet friendly, we have two cats. They offered some toys on check-in (although for dogs, not cats, but they tried). One bedroom suite was very large & looked like a lodge. Front desk was very helpful. Chili's on site is excellent. Continental breakfast is one of the best I've seen. Ten minute walk to town centre. I will repeat at this hotel.
Pictures look better than reality. We had a 2-bed suite, which is broken into top level living area and bottom floor bedroom. The set up is very awkward and bottom floor is stuffy with no air flow or much natural light. The bottom floor is basement with a tiny window close to the ceiling. It felt like a dudgeon. Top floor is also very tight with old furnitures. The entire suite felt crowded and stale. Not worth the $$$.
A group of 14 ladies stayed at the Fox Hotel. The hotel seemed not to recognize our reservation and some waited more than an hour for their rooms. Thankfully Fox did provide some sort of compensation. The other con was that while some ladies enjoyed the "superior" room on one level, others did not. The pictures and description does not say that some of these rooms are bi-level on the website. I had a bi-level superior room (end stage knee arthritis) which meant a tight spiral of 14 stairs to the below grade bedroom which was quite dark (partly due to the wallpaper). Our view leaving the room was gorgeous but I would liked to have booked everyone in the same type of room - one level. Otherwise the facility is clean and the staff is friendly. The ROAM transit stop is just outside the door and just across the street when returning from downtown.…
My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights this past month. Our check-in process was very quick and efficient. The front desk staff were very friendly. We were fortunate to have a first floor room because the elevator was out of order. Our room was a good size and clean. They have a VERY interesting pool that is built like a cave and heated by hot springs. The water is pretty warm, so you might have to get out every now & then. A great way to relax after a long day hiking. It also is open through the roof so you can see out. Because we were often out early we were only able to do the Continental breakfast 1 day. It was nothing special, but it was free. We both ordered sides of bacon as an extra charge. NOTE: The hotel DOES have bear spray for complimentary use. This is important if you're planning to go out hiking. It's probably $40-50 to buy in town. This location is also a good walking distance to the main downtown area. There's also a local bus line that runs by if you don't want to walk or have to find a parking spot. Overall.....we had a great stay, would go back and would recommend…
Like previous reviews we were given a room by the restaurant fan which was very noisy. However the staff agreed to move us , but the loud fan could still be heard. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The continental breakfast was decidedly average but the staff were friendly and helpful. Location wise it is a 10minute walk into Banff centre but if you can’t manage that the bus stops outside the hotel. Ask for a room away from fan
