I just spent the Canada Day Long Weekend in Calgary and stayed at the Ambassador. The motel definitely needs an upgrade with paint, swimming pool, and the entire facade (it looks like from the 60s). Otherwise, no big deal, the staff were very friendly and chatty, and provided tips about places to go during the long weekend, fireworks, parks, etc. Nothing was stolen from my room and/or my car and the room was very clean. No bed bugs or nothing of that nature. AC, TV, and coffee maker were in good condition. The food at Amber's restaurant was also great and the waitresses friendly. Here is a short video about the Ambassador: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plhHTgbG878

After a 15 hour drive, this place was a welcomed sight for tired eyes. The room we checked into was clean, but the bed seemed a bit lopsided. Definately bring your own set of pillows in with you. Our purpose was served, we had a bed for the night and a shower to freshen us up.

We felt the rooms were fairly priced given the excellent location. Being right on theTrans Canada highway and near downtown Calgary, made it easy for a late evening sightseeing drive through the city. Had we not found accommodations with an aquaintence on our return trip to Winnipeg, we would have checked in there again.

I stayed at this motel during the summer or 2003 and 2004 for the calgary stampeed, in 2004 many of the rooms had been renovated. The motel had an outdoor pool and a resturant as well. I found the location was great because it is right on the main highway, it was a great value and stay.

I have NEVER met such IGNORANT people. If this is the service that you receieve, staying at a hotel, I have no idea how these people stay in business. The rate quoted on the phone was 69.00, when we arrived it jumped to 89.00 final story!! The clerk was extremley rude. When we told her we were not taking the room as it was TOTALLY DISGUSTING!!!!! she said to me, "well this will not be happening again" and I told her, you are right, it won't becuase we will never be coming back. To that she replied "good" I told her with we weren't coming back because of her patheic attitude, she then looked at me said "my attitude?" I then told her, she certainly should not be working in the Customer Service Field. She said I will return your money this time but never again. We didnt even rec a service why wouldn't you return our money. I work in a major hotel, and I am pretty sure if I treated people the way this people treat their guest I would be out of a job! Keep on going!!!!!

This was the most disgusting, dirty and seedy place I have ever been in. They falsely advertised that it was clean and newly renovated. Unfortunately upon arriving in our room we sadly discovered it was anything but clean and renovated. The bed sheets had not been changed they were covered in the hair of it's previous occupant. The bathroom had hair on the toilet seat indicating that it was obviously not cleaned. The carpet looked like it hadn't seen a vacumm cleaner in weeks. We immediately checked out. The clerk simply said he was sorry for the inconvenience. When I spoke to the manager about refunding my money she said too bad, no refund. So we were forced to pay $100 dollars for a dirty room that we didn't even stay in and at 3am after having driven 9 hours to get to Calgary, we had to drive around the city looking for a more suitable hotel to stay in for the weekend. I did learn a big lesson from all of this. Before checking into a room, go and inspect it very carefully. Any other place that I had stayed in before I always paid upon checking out, but this place made me pay upon checking in and now I know why. It's so they can scam people. So to anyone who reads this, please beware of this place.

Driving into Calgary without a sense of direction (first time visit), we decided to give the Ambassador a try. We negotiated for 3 nights. Reading the negative reviews, I am surprised; our experience was quite the opposite! The room was large and clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful and all of our appliances were new (TV with good cable, microwave, fridge and A/C unit)! The exterior is very "Early '60s Worlds Fair-Space Age" but, don't judge a book by its cover. Also, our stay was quiet. We will stay here again... Convenient to the downtown core. Thanks for a great stay!

I stayed at the Ambassador Motor Inn in January for work. I can to check in and I was told by the lady at the desk that they had a room that has 2 beds in seperate bedrooms and a little kitchen for $20.00 more. Much better then just 2 beds in a room. She showed me both room and I went with the seperate beds. It is a great little room. I liked all the staff I met there, very friendly and helpful. It was a nice place to stay. Close to everywhere I had to go. I went and tried out their restaurant and it was a great place to eat. On Wednesday's they have a ukrainian platter that was as good as my Grandmas. I will stay there everytime I come to Calgary!!

Stay here if you want... goods stolen out of your hotel room, people who know nothing about customer service, and house keepers who continually walk in on you while you're sleeping! Worst stay I've ever had.... DON"T STAY HERE!

The front clerk charged me $107.00 with a smile? Which seemed extremely high for place that looked very old. The sheets had cigarette holes, the locks were very old, and the room had a distinct odor. Around 4 am in the morning people were knocking on my door asking for cocaine ? Which made me feel very uncomfortable. The website claims to be $69-89 but they charged me $100.00 seems pretty unprofessional if you're really in need of money you could have just asked instead of scamming. Never again!

Booked one night stay and ending up leaving early early (4am). The tap in the bathroom which was extremely outdated was so leaky I thought someone had left it on! The ashtray was full of cigarette butts. Beds made but looked like it was by a 10 year old. Nosy and WAY overpriced!!! Never again
