If a good night sleep is important to you, I would not recommend this hotel. The room lighting including the reading light over the bed, is blue-white. This lighting spectrum is known to disrupt circadian rhythms. Adding to sleep disruption, the box attached to the smoke detector in the ceiling flickered like a small continuous lightning storm all night. These two factors made for a night of disrupted restless sleep. Awake since 3am. Will not return.

Hello, we apologize our safety equipment interrupted your sleep. While looking at the lighting system in the pitch black dark, it is so faint that it requires straining to see it. Again we apologize for the inconvenience. We wish you the best of luck in your travels. Regards GM

A family crisis brought 3 families to Calgary for several days. Both managers at Aloft were accommodating towards our needs, giving us a much appreciated Compassionate Discount on rooms and were very willing to adjust reservations around our uncertain future plans.
The breakfast was generous, the pool is small but was a good distraction for the children when not at the hospital. Staff friendly and helpful. Everything was VERY clean.

The hotel is really modern and nice. The restaurant is very pratical when cold outside or if you don't want to get out, the staff is also really friendly. The train is just in front, so it's quite easy when you want to go around. We also enjoyed the breakfast in the morning. We had a really nice stay at Aloft, and would return. You can even wash your clothes ;)

Calgary

Don’t bother indifferent ignorant staff couldn’t care less about people with disabilities

I have mobility issues I can’t walk distances without major issues. ALoft’s staff used to be one of
Calgarys best kept secrets…now they’re joke

While checking in baldie with the accent was asked several times where my room was located and if it was near an elevator as accesss to the exits and elevators need to be near my room due to my mobility issues

Told me
I was in the 2nd floor and have a nice day. Ice cold

My room is as far away from elevator acces or any access at all as possible.

I had called the day earlier to confirm location and was told no problem as everything was confirmed the day before

After a long journey and u packing the last thing I want to do is change rooms. Maybe there was a short cut through a hallway? Nadda

When I asked mr hotshot what happened I was met with indifference and was told “it is what is”

It is what it is and the classic “oh our system is rebooting ….. nice try Irfan

Would you put a person in a wheelchair on a top floor unit that only has stair access?

Used to love this place…..guys like baldie with the accent have turned it into a hell hole

Especially if you’re disabled or have mobility issues these guys couldn’t give a damn

We had a good stay while in the area for business. The room was clean and bed comfy. Hallways were quiet. We did find the rooms had a very perfumed smell - either an air freshener or cleaning product or some sort. It was very strong and those of us in the group with sensitivities to scents definitely had some sinus issues as a result. But aside from that, it was great and we would stay again.

The price was right. It’s modern hotel on a budget. The breakfast was ok, pool was cold. Lots of desk space but only one chair. Not sure what a second person does for eating, especially during Covid when it’s mostly takeout. The front desk didn’t tell us that we needed to request cleaning if we wanted our room cleaned.

Rooms are nice and front staff were great. However they rent the pool out for private swim lessons and so families cannot freely use the pool. On a Sunday lessons tan all day until 8 pm. The kids were limited to 1/3-1/4 of the pool. Instructors were less than accommodating.

Dear WLW, Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience while staying with us. Providing the highest level of hospitality is our number one priority and I sincerely apologize for failing to meet your expectations. The pool, as well as all the public and common areas, are shared spaces. We do understand the frustration on finding a pool area occupied, especially when travelling with kids, and we do apologize for any inconvenience this may have created. Once again, I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, locking forward to serve you again in the future. Thanks

A newly renovated hotel, the decor is modern and inviting. Security features implemented on front door and elevators provide added level of safety when visiting a larger city. The rooms are large and provided toiletries are appealing. Beds were comfy and clean. The pool was too small to enjoy and not made for children. The lounge staff was great and the food on menu was varied and quite tasty.

My elderly mother fell in Banff one day into a trip from Toronto to attend family and had a severe injury requiring immediate surgery. She was transported to the Foothills Medical Centre. My brother in law booked my sister, my elderly dad and myself into this hotel. Not only weee we able to get a room last minute but we were treated with sensitivity and like family. We were repeatedly allowed to extend our stay without issue and we were treated with compassion. They chatted with my elderly dad often at front desk and they assisted us to print documents which we required for the hospital and insurers. The hotel room and hotel are amazingly comfortable. Family was able to visit us and gather in their lounge area. I was able to distract my dad with playing pool in the lobby. Just amazing. This was our safe space during our crisis and for that I will be ever grateful. My dad and I are returning today and my sister will stay on until my mom can travel and I have no doubt that she will be continue to be treated well here. Thank you Aloft Calgary!

We spent for Christmas Holiday and Birthday gateway at the Aloft Hotel Property and they always exceed service expectations.

From the smooth check-in process by their knowledgeable and professional Harshita always makes our stay welcoming and at home .

This modern property has a unique and fresh vibe also a lot to offer such as easy access to Calgary Alberta's most visited destinations, such as McMahon Stadium, the University of Calgary, Foothills Hospital and the Jubilee Auditorium.
The room itself is very clean and well maintained by their friendly housekeeping.
The continental breakfast has excellent choices and perfect to start your day .

We loved our room and easy access to the pool area, the pool is very clean and well maintained..The maintenance is always making sure the pool temperature is perfect to use and always checking the area .We always feel at home and safe at Aloft Calgary University Hotel

I am sorry but I cannot recall whether the hotel does have in room dining as I only used the restaurant downstairs and therefore did not look for a room service menu but from talking to the servers I think it does on request for items from the restaurant.
