This hotel has a great location and the rooms are big for the price they charge! The room amenities are pretty up the ladder and there's no room for any complaints. The front desk has some amazingly helpful people who serve with a smile. For a business traveller, these things matter. The breakfast spread is quite good. The bar collection is very good - I enjoyed a single malt there!! The dining options are good and the service is fast! Will definitely stay here again.
We stayed here for two nights. Its very clean and the staff are friendly. We usually choose no housekeeping to receive reward points, but you have a choice for points or $5.00 voucher to their lounge. I'm not sure if you could get anything for that price. We had a king bed room. It was average size. The bed was very firm, not my style. Comes with coffee machine and fridge, but no microwave. Nice size bathroom counter which is separate from toilet and shower. I do like that it is a stand up shower only and sliding pocket door. Pool area is big and lots of seats. We travelled in late November so the pool was warm and perfect. Would have love it if it had a hot tub. There is a free hot breakfast and plenty of seating. They provide free coffee and tea 24/7. Over all it is more than worth staying for the price and would could come back.
Opened the room they cheerfully sent me to. Oops: Hall light? AWOL. Uh OH: Battered, tatter-edged mattress leaning against the bureau. Untidy spread lying behind mattress. TV nowhere to be seen. Platform bed stained. Linen? Nowhere. Pillows?Nowhere. After 30 secs. of shock - and fear, I called desk and requested immediate response. Soon, an apologetic woman came, explained it was an error. This was not a "CV", cleaned and vendable, room, but where they stored materials their pest-control company deemed infested or just broken. Could Aloft buy me a meal, get me "drinks", maybe an additional bottle of water [demineralized, filtered river stuff, by the way] for my next room? I was wordless, dead tired after a 4 hour drive in snowy weather. And soooo angry. A bottle of water for exposure to pest stuff? And the "next" room? It was nextdoor to the pest-storage one! The woman grinned, "Aren't you lucky it's so close?" Huh? Pets are mobile even I was not. I left for a safe supper and long stay away, with the University Chancellor, but first requested to hear from the manager by note or call. Thurs.? Nada. Fri.? Nuttin'. Sat.? No word. No email, no note, no phone message. I checked out Sunday, while the manager stood consulting with the clerk: "There he is". She apologized, repeated the "pest control company" song, and promised action on a refund by Monday. Same old same old. Nada Sun. Nada Mon. Nada Tues.morning. My turn to act? OK. I write to say, Be wary of room 102. Be wary of hotels with "pests" in mattresses and any pest control company finds. And be sure to hear what pests are pestering the hotel: Mice? Lice? Bugs? Bedbugs? Polar Bears? Be wary of room nextdoor to the pest-storage area - pests travel. Be wary of hotels that don't offer to relocate you safely. Be wary of managers who let dangerous or daunting incidents and practices occur. Beware those unable to help in timely fashion. Be wary entering pestville- unless you from the Health Inspectors' Office. In 17 countries, 61 cities, dorms, inns, B&Bs,and hotels, I have never been exposed to a potentially serious health hazard. Read my reviews. Aloft scared me. To be fair: In some ways, Aloft is OK.Internet is good and free. Location is fine - even small uninvited guest like it there, it seems. It has free breakfast, some free parking, a bar, a pool table, proximity to a delightful LRT, But: Would I return or recommend Aloft? Well, if Inspected by Health Dept., retored, and tightly controlled, Aloft would likely earn a "pass". Just not for me or those I love: "Once [almost] bitten, twice shy". ! I hate being scared for my health and safety.
Very nice hotel located close to all amenities, very comfortable, breakfast was included , I would call it your typical American prepared meal. Nice indoor swimming pool, free parking and location is very close to a shopping mall.
Stayed last week on business in Calgary. In common with several other reviews, the place is let down by the breakfast service (I didn't have other meals there so can't comment on those).
Dirtly plates not cleaned away was the main issue. Seating is limited so trying to find a free and clean table wasn't easy. They had run out of forks and seemingly didn't care. Piles of dirty dishes in the buffet area.
On checkout I mentioned the need for more staff in this area, the guy chuckled and agreed - seems to be a longstanding issue.
Which is a shame overall as otherwise the place is great value. Rooms are a good size and clean, with the usual amenities. Lighting could be improved though, seems they are using the harshest, cheapest LEDs. Gym was also good and the staff were all very nice.
Just need some more staff on breakfast duty if you're going to encourage repeat customers.
