Hotel full of kids due to water park. Area seems a bit sketchy at night. Many restaurants closed in evening, including Wendy’s by 9 pm 😬. Very nice hotel though once inside. Was disappointed that room did not already have the right number of towels for guest considering that I booked for 5 people and only standard 4 towels provided. Housekeeping was happy to bring up extra, but had to ask. Pool could use a refresh, walls chipping in pool.

Hi EATMFKFC, Thanks for sharing your review on Trip Advisor. Should your travels bring you back our way, if we can assist with recommendations for dining or shopping in the area, please let us know. Although the Wendy's closes early as you noted, we have 12 different food options within a two block radius of the hotel from fast food to upscale dining, including several with extended hours up to 24hrs. (The area is very walkable as well.) We have also shared your feedback regarding the towels and pool with our housekeeping and maintenance departments respectively. Thank you again for sharing your review and on behalf of our entire team, we sincerely hope to welcome you back next time you visit Calgary. Grant Grant Erickson General Manager

I stayed here for a night on my through Red Deer in January.

I had stayed a previous time in the summer prior, and experienced a few issues which I won’t get into because I truly believe they were anomalies, and they were dealt with appropriately by management who invited me to return and stay again, which I took advantage of.

Check in was fast and efficient and staff were friendly and recognized my titanium status. I was Upgraded to a large 1 bedroom suite, which was very spacious, with a sitting area, small table, and separate bathroom. The room was clean, the bed comfortable. The balcony is closed due to some admittedly haphazard looking cement.

Pool / waterslide area was fun as usual. One waterslide was not on, but the kids had fun on the other one and in the pool. It does get crowded down there sometimes which is the only real negative.

Breakfast buffet at colours was better than average, with normal hotel fare, but a good selection. Staff were very nice, and pleasant.

Lots of free parking, covered and uncovered, and close to the airport and lots of restaurants, makes this an attractive stay, especially at the usual price point it’s at. A pretty good value proposition.

Does it need some refurbishing? Yes. The common areas and parts of the room are by no means modern, but on this occasion it was clean, comfortable and not so bad that it detracts from the stay.

Pros - large suite, comfortable bed, free parking
Cons - starting to show its age, can get busy in water park

We showed up on New Years Eve 2023 @ 10AM, hoping to drop our baggage off in the room. Not expecting early check in the room was ready and clean! The check in was fast and efficient. we left during the day but returned in the evening. When we got back we went to the pool which was very busy, but well maintained. They even had a life guard on duty. They have a bar at the pool so you can charge drinks to your room. Great for family's doing an over night who want the best of both worlds. In the evening, we went to Henry's pub for some food and a couple drinks. The staff was so friendly and cheerful, and the food was fresh and fast. After that we moved into the hotel lobby bar (colors bistro lobby), it was SLAMMED! As the hotel had two weddings that weekend, however - it didn't affect service even in the slightest. My husband and I sat at the bar and all of the integrity of the cocktails was maintained and everyone was served in a timely manner. Another manager Amanda, came onto the floor to assist and she was not only friendly to guest but also showed great respect to her staff. Once the lobby bar had cleared out, they had this gentleman who worked for cleaning that swiftly came in and cleaned and moved all the tables and chairs back. Having travelled allot for work, I was so impressed with the transition. It was new years and the bar was closing before 12PM, however the general manager of the hotel, allowed us to purchase an additional few drinks and we could stay seated in the lobby. He was kind and gracious and wanted us to enjoy our night. Over all bang for your buck is a 10! Cleanliness and service 10! This hotel has it all for the everyday modern family.

Overall the hotel is fine but there's a real safety issue in the bathroom. The floor of the shower is flat and slippery and when shampoo and body wash fall on to the floor of the shower, it is extremely slippery and I ended up falling in the shower. Not good. They need to put bath mats or some anti-slip strips onto the floor of the shower.

We recently had an amazing stay at the Sheraton Cavalier. We stayed in one room and had family across the hall, as we were there celebrating somebody.

Grant and his team went above and beyond in making it a special occasion that our little girl would remember for a long time.

Check-in was good and I have to give the staff credit as they kept their composure when some absolutely nutty “mother of the bride” tried to close their entire lobby so that a bride could complete their first look. (The staff even went as far as helping her with her earrings, while also gently trying to advise her that she can’t scream at people to clear the lobby.)

Our room was nice and clean, no concerns at all.

And finally, our time in the water park was amazing. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive in trying to ensure everyone could enjoy themselves safely.

We are already planning our next visit!

Sheraton Cavalier Hotel needs an updated review of 3 stars.

Over the same year, I’ve visited many 3 star hotels that have far surpassed Sheraton Cavalier who claims to be 4 stars. The outside and main lobby look prestigious but the actual hotel rooms are unupgraded and old. The washrooms are smaller than most other hotels and the bathtub was unclean.

BUT THAT’S NOT ALL.

HORRIBLY thin walls. I can hear every single whisper down the hallways, and got woken up multiple times at 3am to footsteps and whispers of groups of people. You can hear every click of all the doors opening and/or closing and turns out the door is too small for the door frame. Because this is most commonly known as a family hotel, I could hear little kids running up and down. They weren’t even yelling or screaming, but I heard every exclamation or remark they made. My whole family was unable to sleep well. Is that not the main point to a hotel? To produce a comfortable place to spend the night? We will be cutting our stay short. Room is also incredibly small for 4 people and the washroom is a tight fit. I could have gotten a better deal for a less cost at a 3 star hotel elsewhere. If Sheraton cavalier wants to keep its 4 stars, it needs to keep up with the times and update their rooms, sound proofing, and much more.

Oh and the view of pipes and fans is truly nice.

Update: talked to front desk to see if anything could be done (like moving to a more sound proof room) but they couldn’t do anything about it.

Staff is nice enough and the water park is great for kids but the rooms itself are a huge problem. This is the basic necessity to a hotel, please update rooms.

The hotel is located close to hwy1 which is great when driving through Canada.
The hotel was clean and staff friendly.
The room and bed were comfortable . We were on the side with not much of a view . But if you go to the 8th floor club area . There is a great view of downtown Calgary and you can watch the planes come in to land at the airport. The breakfast was good and staff very helpful . one negative was the door to the room was not weathered striping so the light from the hallway came through the door in to the room . Also you could hear people talking in the hallway so about 11:00 pm I was woken up . We were about 3 to 4 doors down from the elevator so not sure if that play in to it.
I hope the hotel fix’s the door issues as it may make for a better night sleep.
The club area was not serviced very well and we had to call down a few times for hot water etc.

Save yourself the hassle and look for another venue to host your event, it's better than dealing with unprofessional people. I contacted sales coordinator and came in saw the confrence room and discussed all the details with her and told her we would be prebooking 7 of our events in advance and we can pay deposits to secure the dates and she checked the first date for us which is in Oct and she said it was available, we left And called back within an hour just to figure out the rest of our dates she refused to book any day for us except for Jan so basically 1 out of the 7 dates we gave her. I tried to talk to her but she's very unprofessional I asked to talk to her manger she fully ignored me. I called the hotel back and asked for a manger ofcourse the manger was not available to talk on the phone so they gave me an email only, I emailed but she has no straight answer .All it was is that for some odd reason they did not want us booking with them which doesn't make sense that the Oct date got booked within an hour. Any other hotel would wanted to be booked and would've wanted the business but I guess they don't need it. Their loss will definitely be hosting our events somewhere else

We visited Sheraton over the September long weekend.  The location is really great if you have a car - easy to get to and can easily get around the city.  There are several fast food and sit-down restaurants that are within walking distance.  While the outside of the hotel leaves much to be desired, kind of looks like an old office building, the inside was quite nice with a welcoming lobby area, open restaurant, and the hallways were all updated and bright.  Our room was also updated, clean and quiet which was surprising as we were literally across from the 2nd floor pool access.  The pool and waterslide (one has been broken down since May as I understand), was CRAZY busy in the evening when we went.  My kids are strong swimmers, so I wasn't too worried, but there is no cap on the number of people and the pool area got crowded at times.  We still loved it - the waterslide and pool were enough to keep them entertained for over an hour and I liked how the hot tubs were situated as you can be in the hot tub and still see what's happening in the pool and with the waterslide.   When we went to the pool in the morning it was a lot quieter.  The other surprise about this hotel is that  check-in is 3pm and check-out is 12pm.  This is generally one hour earlier and one hour later than other hotels we have stayed at and we made good use of the check-out time, staying in the pool area until 11:15am and leaving by 11:50am.

My son and I were in Calgary with friends to celebrate my son’s birthday and we chose Sheraton Cavalier because of the water park. It was a little more expensive than other hotels with similar amenities, but it was available. When we walked through the door into the lobby, we were blasted with the smell of strong men’s cologne. Well, I thought, some men do like their cologne, and let it be. However, it wasn’t just one person. It was the air freshener, as the scent was always present whenever we walked through the lobby. It must be the hotel’s signature scent, as the soaps and shampoo smell the same. Please take into consideration that not all people want to be greeted with this scent as they may be allergic or it could trigger headaches.
The rooms were clean but the beds are very well used as they have low and high points, making them very uncomfortable to sleep in. They really need to be replaced.
The housekeeping staff were very stingy in replenishing the coffee cups and tea in our rooms. They did not seem to be happy that we asked.
The water park is smaller than we imagined and seems to be very crammed together. The main pool is very small for having a deep end; can’t do much in it. I will consider another hotel next time.
