Wow, what a difference a few months make. I was not at all impressed with this hotel during my last visit. However, I decided to give it another shot and I am glad that I did. At check in the clerk was very polite and pleasant and even upgraded my room. The room was great and the wifi worked flawlessly. I didn’t attend the breakfast buffet as Denny’s is just around the corner. Thank you Comfort Inn for making my stay so enjoyable this time around.

We stayed at the hotel for one night. We were very disappointed to find out that the pool and hot tub had been shut down by AHS and we weren't able to use it. This was one of the reasons we chose this location.

When we arrived, we had requested early check in (2 pm). They were full the night before and the room wasn't available, which is totally understandable. When we did get into our room, the thermostat read 85 degrees. We asked for some help cooling it off, and they sent somebody immediately. The maintenance person was not available, so they offered us a new room.

Our second room was a little cooler but even with the cool air on full blast, it never got below 76 degrees. Which was way too warm for sleeping.

The room was spacious. It was nice to have a separate space for sleeping, and one for sitting/socializing. The tub was very decent for a standard hotel room, and since the pool was closed, it was nice to have a hot bath at the end of the night. However, we did not like the layout of the bathroom. The sink was outside the bathroom, which makes it a bit awkward.

The linens looked to be clean and fresh, but some of the amenities looks to have been used? Our little bottle of lotion was almost completely empty. There was also some staining (drips) on the walls, and inside the drawers.

A free breakfast in the morning is always a plus. The coffee was decent. The waffles and sausages were good. There was a good selection and the man who was cleaning and keeping things stocked was very helpful to me as well as other guests in the breakfast area.

Overall it was an ok looking room, but the lack of amenities and the heat made it a poor stay. I don't think it was worth the price we paid considering the pool was closed.

I stayed at this lovely hotel for 2 nights in May 2020.  On the first night, I stayed in a King Room which was comfortable, renovated, and had a fridge, microwave and a safe.  While the room itself was beautiful, unfortunately I didn't sleep a single wink that night due to a horrible undulating noise.  I found out later that it was coming from the room below me - the air conditioning unit had been left on full blast and was making a terrible amount of noise.  As an avid traveler, I have stayed in all kinds of hotels all around the world, and have never had to complain about anything.  But I knew there was no way I could spend another sleepless night in that room, so I approached the front desk and sheepishly requested a new room.  They were absolutely amazing and very apologetic for the lack of sleep.  I was upgraded to a suite on the top floor and it was superb - I even had a view of the city skyline.  I cannot say enough about the fantastic customer service at this hotel - don't be shy to ask for anything you need, as they are more than happy to make sure their guests are comfortable and satisfied with their stay.  I will definitely stay here again if I need to be in this area of Calgary!

In our first room, there was white spit up on the wall and a used towel hanging behind the bathroom door. The pool was closed and we were not told at booking time, the sign on the pool said it was shut down by Alberta Health Services. Then we noticed that the door of our room didn't lock so we couldn't go anywhere unless we put all our stuff back in our vehicles and felt unsafe. When I tried to phone the front desk we found out the phones don't work. I was finally told the hotel was full so we barricaded ourselves in for the night.
Saturday we got a new room and then at 3 pm 2 guys with working keys entered our room saying this was the room that the front desk gave them. I phoned the front desk, with my cell phone and they were mortified promising this wouldn't happen again. We found out that our keys were disabled and needed re-keying. Second night none of us slept well. When I asked to speak to a manager, there was no manager until Monday and I was given the hotel general email and told this was the manager's email. I emailed the manager my issues with this place. The woman at checkout knew of our troubles and told us she wouldn't charge us and would be fighting for us to not be charged. I received an email from the manager upon returning home telling us that because we stayed at the hotel (hoping that all of these situations would be corrected) she was still charging us for this HORRENDUS stay. On top of that she's apparently fired her staff because of what happened to us.

I had messed up on our check-in dates when I had booked through Booking.com, so when we got here they didn't have us as booked. We were in fact booked for the following week! I asked if they had space and if we can change it. Nicole who was on the front desk was extremely helpful and started the process while we completed it online with Booking.com to correct it. It all went smoothly.
We were initially given a room that smelled like we just walked into Bed and Bath after somebody dumped a whole bottle of their bottle spray on the carpet. The scent was overwhelming. I opened the window and turned on the bathroom fan to try and get rid of the smell. I wasn't sure about calling the front desk as I figured the smell will hopefully disappear and Nicole had already been so helpful in getting our reservation corrected.
Nicole, fortuitously called to check on how our room was and I told her the problem. She immediately came upstairs with a set of new room keys and moved us, apologizing for the overpowering smell.
Our new room thankfully was odour free. Our beds were comfortable, the room clean.
The location is closed to the University which is exactly where we needed to be. II highly recommend staying here. The hotel is across from Calgary's light rapid rail station so if you want to use transit to get around it's super easy. Parking is no charge for guests.

Absolutely filthy. I noticed the carpets are never vacuumed & have no indications of ever been steam cleaned. There are things unwashed on the walls. The heater would not work, fan would but was worse than a Diesel engine idling in your room. The only ice machine was out of service & the pop machine was completely empty. The hotel has multiple indications of disrepair & lack of maintenance. Parking is terrible unless you own a sub-compact. Staff is polite & helpful.

After our experience, we will not be staying with this hotel chain again, Upon arrival, we were not given the rooms we had booked, the facility was disgusting and pool closed due to health concerns. The manager was very argumentative with us and insisted in charging us for a they could not provide. I am now dealing with customer service.

Sheer curtains allow light to come into room from next hotel. Paper thin walls that allowed me to hear the next room's conversations. I was assured that I was booked in a quiet area of the hotel. Dirty carpet and one lamp didn't work. No coffee maker in room "due to covid". Fresh coffee at desk "24/7" but only 2 pots are made per day. Thanks, but no thanks. I won't be back.

We have stayed here several times before and have always thought it fine. Under COVID rules, things were a bit different in that there was no cleaning the rooms daily, which did not bother us, and the breakfast was bagged at the front desk, but at least we got to choose our goodies. This did lead to one of my quibbles: on Sunday morning there was only one person at the desk handling check out, breakfast and coffee. This led to long waits. A second person would have been helpful.
The room was comfortable and the air conditioning worked very well. My second quibble is the lighting in the room: it was terrible for reading. Light over the bed rather than to the side would be good. If you do a reno, please think about that.
We enjoyed our stay in spite of my minor issues, and likely will be back.

Incredibly friendly front desk staff and great location. Other than that this is a very tired and run down hotel. Hallways and rooms smell like smoke and musk. The inside of this establishment certainly shows its age throughout and the elevators make all sorts of alarming sounds I've never heard hotel elevators make before. The complimentary breakfast is not very good at all, poor effort to be honest but it is OK as there are breakfast options within walking distance. Price was competitive but a bit high I thought for what it is your really getting. Would be an OK option for youth teams to stay but I wouldn't stay here again unfortunately.
