Picture perfect 3-night stay, from the upgrade to a large king room on the top floor (Rm 2314), to a waiver of the third night fee (that was not even requested) due to a last minute early departure at 4:30pm.

The recently refurbished and highly functional room was basic in decor (ie, devoid of charm consistent with the Marriott brand) with muted colours, but perfectly equipped: large glass water carafe for refilling with plain or sparkling water on each floor, cold mini-fridge, capacious storage and surface space, excellent and varied lighting, blackout and sheer blinds, lots of USB and electrical outlets, big bright bathroom, and of course - and not to be underestimated - a comfortable bed and bedding. See photos from all vantage points. On request, I was provided a bathrobe and slippers. I did not have time to use the gym and cannot comment on the other amenities.

The club lounge on the second floor (for elite members and those who choose that option) offered the highest quality breakfast and evening hors d’oeuvres. Snacks were plentiful and replenished often. The homemade honey potato chips with little bags for takeout were fabulous, and individual servings of veggies and dip, and humus and chips - which I have never seen in a Bonvoy property - were always on offer in the fridge. The room itself was compact but well laid out.

The hotel is the most advanced I have ever experienced in terms of environmental consciousness. The request to save water and refillable toiletry pumps are fairly ubiquitous, but the water carafe and a black makeup remover facecloth are unique. Some hotels provide makeup remover wipes to save their white towels, but these are disposable and not as environmentally friendly. Replacing the paper coffee cups with ceramic is what I understand to be the hotel’s next initiative. To me, any reasonable step a hotel can take to reduce its environmental footprint is positive. Some Bonvoy hotels even provide soap and lotion pumps on the vanity as well as in the shower stall. The hotel could consider this for an even greater impact.

Finally, but essential to my rating is the staff. They were, to a person, superb ambassadors of the brand, and helpful and friendly. Shout out to Donna for her initiative in leaving her reception spot when I called down in a hurry, and getting me a cab to the airport when there were no Ubers to be found, and having my bill printed and ready. This kind of proaction is rare, and so very valuable to guests. Thanks again, Donna.

Excellent location, lovely lobby, great staff who take initiative, nicely-appointed room, and all round perfect stay.

Loved this location!! Impeccably clean rooms and bathrooms. Modern and contemporary. Marriott always seems to know exactly what their travelers need or don’t need. This location’s second floor M Lounge is excellent. Christopher took great care of us and we enjoyed our time chatting with him. The food in the lounge is above and beyond what we’ve found in other concierge lounges. Due to our prepay paid reservation as part of a tour we had to leave and move over to the Palliser which paled in comparison. Stick to the Marriott…you won’t be disappointed particularly with this location!!

We needed a hotel that was pretty close to what we had come to see and central to most of the attractions. This was the hotel, near the Calgary Stampede close to the Calgary tower and a gentle walk to the high street for meals and the bars.
The rooms were spacious, cleaned daily and refurbished with toiletries regularly, the bar was very busy and the bar staff catered well for the customers not only with drinks but food as well.Breakfast/lunch/dinner was also served here so not to far to go for eating.
Thanks go to Monica behind the bar and fellow staff.A Starbucks is on the premises so your coffee is guaranteed.
Check in check out quick and receptionists very friendly.
The premises have conference rooms so meetings are no problem.
I would use this hotel again as it was ideal for what we needed it for

The hotel is conveniently located for shopping areas and the rapid transit railway platforms. We were on a 'room only' basis (as it often is with some hotels), however as a Bonvoy membership holder which gives access to the executive lounge we had breakfast in there. On some nights we went into the lounge for the canape's, soft drinks were included but I got an unpleasant surprise when asked to sign and charge the cost of alcoholic drinks to the room. I've never come across this until now.

I stay here whenever I come to Calgary on business.

The staff are very welcoming and the property is well maintained. Cleanliness standards are quite high.

The Bonvoy lounge has great offerings mornings and evenings. It’s also a quiet place to work between service.

The location is super central and it’s easy to get an Uber from here. Most downtown destinations are walkable from the property.

I’m always accommodated with early check in and late check out as an ambassador elite member.

The king suites feel like a downtown apartment and are very comfortable,

Great hotel in a great location. Our room was big and clean. The front desk was very helpful. The hotel is a cross from the tower, the linens were very comfortable, the bathroom was large and had good water pressure. The internet was fast.

A beautiful hotel with everything you’d expect off a Marriott.
Fabulous location downtown right outside the Calgary Tower and backing onto the busy pedestrianised bar/restaurants/shopping area.
Jacob was very friendly and welcoming when we checked in. Helpful and knowledgeable. The 118 restaurant had an excellent breakfast menu served till 11 when it switched to brunch. Well worth the money for this hotel.
Valet parking is recommended as parking in the area (it is downtown) is awful and the valet’s were again friendly and helpful- full of local knowledge too.
Beautiful big bedrooms and bathroom with powerful roomy shower stall. Loads of sockets for charging items, lots of surfaces in the room and bathroom for storing your items - something a lot of hotels don’t think about!!

We stayed here only one night prior to traveling back to the U.S. after a two week stay in the Canadian Rockies. The hotel was conveniently located, and there were many restaurants and shops within walking distance. As platinum members, I believe we were given an upgraded room, which was very large and comfortable. We were also told that we could have either a $20 credit for breakfast at Starbucks or a $40 credit for breakfast at the hotel's restaurant, but neither opened on the weekend until 8 am, which was too late for us given our need to get to the airport. I had called the hotel in advance of our stay to get information about where we could have our covid testing done, but they could not provide us with any information about this. On my own, I found a travelers' clinic within short walking distance, so that was also convenient. On the advice of another traveler, we parked our car at the convention center rather than in the hotel garage, but I think in face this cost us more money and was not probably as convenient. I believe on the weekends the hotel's parking costs are lowered, so if you find yourself there on a weekend it's probably best to just go with parking there.

I am here now and thank god we switched to Marriott. We are in town for husbands business trip and I’m also working remotely here. We started our trip at another hotel brand down the street and after a very frustrating first day of not being able to get online for work, because their Wi-Fi signal was so poor, we made the switch to this Marriott as we were told they offer high speed wireless internet. I am online now, able to work finally, and this Wi-Fi speed is faster even than what I have back at home! Room is nice as is standard for Marriott. Comfortable room and great views of downtown. Staff has been friendly. Also, their Starbucks downstairs is insane. The line was sooooooo long however, I was amazed at the speed the Starbucks Marriott team made everyone’s drinks. I wasn’t waiting more than a few minutes to get mine and they were made perfectly. If your visiting Calgary for work or play, this is a comfortable hotel to lay your head at night and also work at lightning speed on their Wi-Fi :)

Stayed here for a conference, through which I booked the room at a conference rate. However I entered my Bonvoy number so that it appeared on my Bonvoy account in which I have Gold status. By no means do I have high status compared to others but I should have received a free room upgrade on check in. Unfortunately, despite being acknowledged as a gold member upon check in I was not offered an upgrade despite rooms being available as per their website. However I didn’t make a stink about it because I checked in late and just wanted to get into my room for the night.

The good: easy walk to the conference center, close walk to nearby attractions. The bar/restaurant on the main level was good.

The average: the front desk staff generally seemed cold. It’s not that they were rude, but just didn’t seem friendly at all - no smiles, no enthusiasm, just looks and attitudes of indifference. Of note, none of that really affected me or my stay but at the same time , nothing they did really made me feel welcome .

The to be improved : it gold and above Bonvoy members are entitled to a complementary upgrade upon checkin, please honor it or else why would I want to stay loyal to Bonvoy ?

The curious; the couch in the room has a big gap in the middle. I assume it’s a design thing , but I don’t get it (see pic)

You cannot get any more centrally located for Lake Louise than the Fairmont Lake Louise, it is also expensive. If you are doing Lake Louise photography you will end up here, either as a stay in the hotel or parking in the auxiliary parking lot during a day trip. The Marriott Delta Banff is cheaper and is located in Banff, less than an hour's drive from LL. There are also less expensive hotels in Banff. This is posted in the Calgary Downtown Marriott entry. If intending to stay in Calgary, this will require a 2-3 hour drive to get to Lake Louise and a park entry. Safe Travels
