The Fairmont Palliser, nestled in the heart of downtown, garners accolades for its exceptional service and luxurious atmosphere, with especially high praise for the Gold Floor's amenities and staff attentiveness. Although the central location is a hit for its proximity to attractions, a few guests mention potential noise from nearby trains. Room experiences vary, with reports ranging from well-appointed to cramped quarters; nonetheless, the hotel's cleanliness stands out. While some guests question the value, citing varying room quality or high costs, others feel the indulgent experience justifies the price.

Hotel's Favourite
My daughter and I just enjoyed a quick 2-day getaway at the Palliser this weekend and all I can say is WOW. For two seconds of backstory, my husband and I are expecting our 4th baby in March (yes, you read that right) and so before I’m once again up to my eyeballs in diapers and milk cloths, my 8-year-old and I thought it would be fun to have one last fancy hurrah somewhere close to home. From the moment we walked into the hotel we knew we were somewhere special. The ambiance, the décor… all beautifully ornate yet still very comforting. What really impressed me the most was the unforgeable service we received throughout our stay, especially on the Gold Floor. Simply put, we were treated like family. Karandeep in reception and Kathy in the Gold Lounge were two of the most welcoming and accommodating individuals that I have ever met in the service industry. A sincere thanks to both of you for making our stay unforgettable. I also wanted to thank Neha (the Fairmont Gold supervisor) for upgrading us to such an extraordinary room. The Heritage Suite is truly a room fit for a king or queen… and by some miracle we got to stay in there as well. If you haven’t seen pictures online, I implore you to look them up… because no words can truly do it justice. I suppose the only downside to all of this is that after staying is such an amazing suite, everything else now looks second best. Thanks for ruining us!! But moreso, thank you all so much for such a memorable weekend – till next time!

Best service ever and super comfy bed with fluffy pillows!! The Fairmont always manages to exceed my expectations. I went for a mini staycation by myself and from the moment I set foot in the hotel, it was great. I was upgraded to a nicer room which was a wonderful surprise. The food was great and there was a nice variety of equipment in the gym. I followed that up each night with some time in the hot tub, pool, and then the steam room. The interior of the place is beautiful as well. I fully enjoyed the experience while I was there and left feeling very refreshed. I wish I could have stayed for longer.

I travel a lot for business and always stay at the Fairmont Palliser while in Calgary. As usual, my room was very comfortable. Check in and check out was seamless. The food and service in the Gold Floor lounge was excellent. In the Gold Floor lounge itself is such a nice room with such large windows, and so much light.

All around fantastic. Patti at Hawthorn made sure our client dinner went perfectly smoothly. Great service! This hotel is perfectly located within the downtown business core and is walkable to virtually everywhere… always my first choice when visiting Calgary.

My experience with the phone operator at this hotel was incredibly disappointing. I stayed at this hotel a few months ago, and unfortunately, the memory of the rude and unhelpful service I received still lingers. Upon calling the hotel's customer service to make a simple request, I was met with sheer incompetence and outright disrespect from the phone operator. Not only did she fail to understand my request, but she also had the audacity to raise her voice at me over the phone. What was even more frustrating was her repeated insistence on asking "What?" three consecutive times in a loud and disrespectful manner, as if my request was beyond her comprehension. It was evident that she lacked the basic communication skills necessary for her role and showed a complete disregard for customer satisfaction. Btw, I ended up getting a yoga mat when I requested for a bathtub rubber mat. Furthermore, it became apparent that the operator had no knowledge of what the hotel rooms looked like, which only added to her confusion and inability to handle my simple request. It's imperative for hotel staff, especially phone operators, to have a thorough understanding of the hotel's facilities and accommodations to efficiently assist guests. Handling calls in a hotel setting can undoubtedly be stressful, but that is no excuse for such unprofessional behavior. Guests should feel valued and respected at all times, regardless of the circumstances. Unfortunately, my experience with the phone operator at this hotel fell far short of this expectation. In conclusion, I would strongly advise the management of this hotel to invest in better training for their staff, particularly in the areas of communication and customer service. It's essential to ensure that all guests receive the level of care and attention they deserve. I will still recommend this hotel to others, the lobby was elegantly beautiful and most of the staff I encountered went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.

Dear W2048GYsandram, Thank you for sharing your feedback. Your experience with our phone operator seems to have been less than ideal, and for this, we sincerely apologize. At the Fairmont Palliser, we are committed to providing top-notch services, and it is concerning to hear that you felt this was not met during your interaction with our phone operator. Your comments about the communication skills and the knowledge of our phone operator are very concerning. It's our goal to ensure our team is well equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to handle any guest's requests effectively and efficiently. Your feedback will be instrumental in reinforcing these aspects during our communication training sessions. We believe that a guest's journey with us should be nothing short of exceptional, from the initial call to the moment they leave our premises. On a happy note, we are pleased to hear that you appreciated the beauty of our lobby and the welcoming nature of most of our staff. It's heartening to know that despite the unfortunate incident, you would still recommend us to others. Once again, we apologize for the discomfort you experienced and appreciate your patience and understanding. We hope to have the opportunity to serve you better in the future. Feel free to contact me personally to ensure your reservations are well taken care of. Regards, Winkie Frani Executive Assistant

We decided to spend one night at the Fairmont Palliser before heading to ski at Lake Louise and Sunshine (outside of Banff). Since we were arriving a bit late, we missed the Fairmont gold nightly food service. However, we were very lucky that Neha, of the gold level, saved some of the food from the nightly service and then had it delivered to our room after we arrived. That was very nice! After 12 hours of traveling, the food and excellent accommodations made a huge difference and was an excellent way to start our trip. This was our 2nd time at the Fairmont Palliser and we will always return when we are in Calgary. The breakfast on Sunday morning was excellent - and everyone was very helpful. Valet service was also great! Thanks to everyone at the Palliser for an excellent stay!

While we’ve never had a problem at any of the other Fairmont hotels (or any other hotel for that matter), I’m not sure we’ve ever stayed at the Palliser without feeling disappointed and this stay was no different. From feeling pressured to take a higher priced room upon check-in that wasn’t really as advertised to having to make do with a broken shower and toilet - everything about our hotel stay was disappointing. The rooms here just don’t seem to be very well looked after and the staff were not as helpful about our issues as we’d hoped. After several stays and not one even decent experience, I’m not sure we’ll be back. The one highlight of each stay has been the restaurant, which always serves incredible food with even better service! The restaurant is definitely worth visiting!

| had afternoon tea with my daughters who traveled from Vancouver to celebrate our birthdays together, it was indeed an amazing experience. We were delighted with the elegance of service and how special we felt. This was a planned trip after loosing my husband. I was very emotional but our server Rissa, kept the entire experience marked with genuine elegance. She was phenomenal, attentive and efficient. She has this charm that is so heartwarming. We have decided to make this our annual tradition at the Fairmont Palliser because of her .

The place is beautiful, but the rooms (especially on my first two nights) were too hot. Even with the window open and the thermostat turned off or down, it was far too hot and I couldn't comfortably sleep as I was sweating through the bedding. The staff for the most part were great, except one staff member who was rude when I asked where I could smoke (medical cannabis user here), assuming I was someone off the street asking for a cigarette. It was an odd experience and I laughed it off. Besides him, the staff were amazing. I likely wouldn't stay again though as I think the experience was high on style, low on substance.
