Detailed Reviews
The hotel floor in the elevator was not good but the overall hotel public places was nice. The towel was smells to much chlorine, the bathroom is little bit small but clean. The breakfast was good and can get make you full but not much of a choices and there is only 1 fruits available which is green apple and not even cut up. Didn't have a chance to use the pool because of the issue about the pipe. The location is very accessible to fastfood and gas station and 4 minutes to church and around 10 minutes to downtown

Fruit was rotten and juice was warm at breakfast and also had to jump through many hurdles just for some coffee. Pipes squeal when running warm showers (you can also hear your neighbours and their hot showers running). Rooms are narrow. Huge amount of unsupervised children. Hit or miss with staff interactions. Mostly rude and dismissive responses when we followed up with requests for hangers made the day prior which made us hesitant to ask for more things such as towels.Despite booking as a group of four we were given a room best suited and stocked for two people. We booked through a different party site however so I can understand perhaps a glitch in the system. Most irritating part of our stay was the unexpected babysitting job we were briefly saddled with midnight on a Friday. After having dodged many rambunctious and unsupervised children throughout our stay we were a little irritated and felt as if we payed to stay at an amusement park because of the way the kids treated things like the elevator as fun little rides. Late at night on Friday there were children screaming, laughing and crying in the stairwell. We’re in the fourth floor and could hear them clearly. We sent a call down to the front desk mostly out of concern because of the crying but also because there was a toddler running around our floor (unsupervised, again. It is at this point almost midnight.) staff said they’d send someone up but 10 minutes later the kid starts crying hysterically outside of some other guests’ door. It went on for a while so my friend and I out of concern went to check on the child. We could not get anything out of them so we brought them down to the lobby to be met with unconcerned staff who only shrugged and pointed to a group in the lobby. We had also accrued two other non-crying children who seemed to possibly be the other child’s siblings. A group playing cards in the lobby did end up taking the children but once again was very unbothered by the site of a stranger holding their crying child. It should also be noted that in the stairwell that these children were playing in there were rocks taken from I think the planters and thrown throughout three levels of the stairwell. Everywhere. Out of concern for someone else tripping I picked them up I did not bother to pick up all the food scraps though. Overall I would be incredibly concerned about safety especially young children in this hotel. There seemed to be a lack of concern not only for the children who seem to free roam the hotel but also for the hotel guests that are coming and going. It was hard to navigate anywhere (especially the floor with the pool on it) without having to dodge children or try and manoeuvre around them as they run in front of you or mess with the elevator in front of the indifferent staff. Withholding other issues we had this was absolutely not worth the price my friends and I paid!

We stayed here because we had a weekend of events at the Stampede grounds and it was only a 5 min. drive to get there from this location. Check in was quick and easy, our room was clean and beds were comfy. Housekeeping came in everyday and made the beds, changed towels and tidied up the room for us. We didn’t get the free breakfast, as we opted for macdonalds which is right beside the hotel. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The only complaint I have is the underground parking had piles of pigeon poop everywhere.

I am writing this review to express my deep dissatisfaction with the service I received during my recent stay at the Days Inn Macleod Trail South East, Calgary. My experience, particularly with the front desk agent Amy and the manager Rio, was both frustrating and disheartening.
On a Tuesday night, I encountered several issues that have prompted me to bring this to the owner of DI immediate attention. Firstly, Amy's conduct was unprofessional and dismissive. When I inquired about the absence of a microwave in my room, her response was rude and unsatisfactory. Furthermore, her handling of my request for a late checkout was inconvenient. Instead of accommodating my request, she instructed me to call back in the morning—a time when I wished to sleep in. Additionally, as a Wyndham member, I was dismayed not to be offered any form of paid late checkout, which is standard practice in other hotels. Rio, the manager informed me that this cannot be accommodated due to housekeeping turnover, which is not my problem.
The overall condition and service provided by the hotel were far below acceptable standards. I was shocked to find that the hotel did not have plastic spoons, and the utensils (forks) provided were handed to me by Front desk using bare hands, which raises serious concerns about food safety practices. This lack of attention to cleanliness and proper handling further diminished my confidence in the hotel's operations.
The check-in process was notably slow, and the information provided was inadequate. Despite having two front desk staff present, we were not informed about essential details such as parking, breakfast, or checkout procedures. Amy’s comments regarding the absence of an elevator based on my booking felt discriminatory and unprofessional.
Moreover, the breakfast experience was marred by the unexpected requirement of a coupon, which was not communicated to us beforehand. This led to an embarrassing situation where we had to return to our room to retrieve the coupon.
The room itself was poorly maintained, with significant noise from traffic and an air conditioning unit that was excessively loud throughout the night. This hotel does not meet the standards expected of Wyndham properties.

Response from Days Inn C Calgary South, General Manager at Days Inn By Wyndham Calgary South
Responded Aug 11, 2024
Dear dsperera122, First and foremost on behalf of the Days Inn by Wyndham Calgary South management and staff, kindly accept our sincere apology for the incident and the inconvenience. As per our Manager Rio who spoke with you, explained and apologized for the above-mentioned. You have requested a microwave in your room. However, we further advised you that we only have one available 24/7 at the lobby area. You also demanded a late check-out of 1:00 pm as you are Wyndham blue member. We also explained to you that due to the very high turn over, we cannot accommodate your request until 1:00 pm. Only Wyndham Gold member can for that case. Apparently despite of that you are still unsatisfied. We once again apologize for the incident and the inconvenience.

Between my partner and I we spend half of our lives in hotel rooms, so when I tell you how awful this stay was, it's based on experiences
First of all my mother and I arrive and are told our room is on the 1st floor but no elevator "its just right up the little steps" which is actually 3 flights of stairs.
They had no room to switch me to
Staying with my mother who is a senior, I sure as hell did not realize when a hotel advertises as "elevators" you need to call and make sure the thing is for all upper floors.
Secondly once up the stairs you are hit with a wall of heat, the room is also a furnace. I assure you I am not being dramatic. The room is +30 inside, the same as the hallway.
Turn the AC on and after over 2 hours the temperature has dropped by 2 degrees. I phone the desk and request a fan and they don't have any. I will give the staff member credit because after I was a bitch he tracked down an old lousy one from some other space
Third thing is that thr room looks absolutely nothing like the one I booked. The shower curtain bar is falling down and broken so you can't close the curtain at all. The showers make so much squawking noise I could actually hear the next door room turn their shower on
The beds were so hard
The pool is only open until 8pm
This isn't a fancy high end hotel so I don't expect perfection but this was a $40 ghetto motel experience for

This letter is directed for management. Which seems like this would not be the email address for management When it cleary says its front desk in the email.
My family and I just checked in at 5 o'clock on July 9 for the Calgary stampede. We paid over $600 for this room. And when checked in after spending the day in +30 temperatures we show up to our room being 35°C, this is unacceptable. When talking to front desk staff, they said this seem to be an ongoing problem today. I'm not sure why in that case somebody would not be getting up to the empty rooms to turn the air conditioners on prior to paying customers arrival.
We also tried to request a fan which we were told they do not have any. The front desk lady offered the one she had from behind the front desk in the air conditioned lobby.
On top of this. Which is also unacceptable our room smells greatly of cigarettes. Also we only had 3 towels in our room for 4. When called down was told they are too busy. Service is insufficient, and would never stay here nor recommend to anyone.

We very much enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The beds and pillows are comfy, the housekeepers keep the rooms spotless and the front desk staff are so accomodating and helpful. The manager solved my loud neighbour problem expertly. We will definitely stay again!

We were lied to over the phone while booking a room for 2 nights, we wanted to be close to shawnessy with a kiddie pool, king bed and restaurant, we were told this location had everything we wanted including location. Upon arrival there was drug deals happening and it was closer to downtown, no restaurant, kiddie pool or king bed. It was the opposite of what we wanted. The elevator did not operate properly and closed on my shoulder which is still bruised. For 200+a night a person would expect better quality overall. The vending machines were out of stock, the floors in the elevator were always wet and smelled of mildew musky, the smaller queen old bed, the low pressure old style shower, not enough towels, no seating for two people in the room, the one chair was broken hahaha and uncomfortable (a office chair).

Homeless person/drug addict in the lobby warming up and smoking crack upon my arrival on Tuesday (Feb 18, 2025) night (yes, it was a very cold evening -30 or so). Check in was smooth, lady was nice enough and I went to my room (Room 111 on the "first" floor). I left the room shortly thereafter, but exited right instead of left and exited what I thought was the rear stairwell and when I realized my mistake, the door shut behind me to the stairwell. Their was no doorknob for re-entry. I exited the stairs outside to a 2nd floor rooftop area that was locked and gated all around. There was a door labelled "lobby entrance" but it was locked and chained (and had a dead pigeon laying there). I pounded on the door for a while, but no body answered. I called the hotel number (that is listed on google maps AND when you google the hotel itself, and it was out of service (403) 879-1895. I was only in a t-shirt and was starting to get concerned. I decided to scale the 8 foot fence and dropped down to the McDonalds' drive through area to the east and walked back to the lobby. I cut my hand badly on the top of the fence and reported the entire incident to the check-in lady. She was apologetic and then we found out that the First Aid kit was out of bandages. Fortunately, I had some bandages in my room. The bedding was thin for such a cold week, and I needed some extra sheets (which I found in the dresser).
The next two nights when I arrived back, my keycard wouldn't work, necessitating another long trip back down the stairs to get the card re-charged. No biggie, but an inconvenience.
The Buckle Lounge was quiet, but the host was good and the food was excellent.
My recommendations going forward:
1. Signage on the "first" floor exit should clearly communicate that no-entry is possible when taking the stairs (the opposite side flight of stairs DID have this signage, as I discovered later).
2. The exit to the rooftop area should NOT be locked, in the event of a fire, we'd all be trapped on the rooftop!
3. Update the First Aid kit immediately, and regularly going forward.
The rating for this hotel is a 3 star, I think that is generous, its a bit tired, the room was basic, but clean. The bed was comfortable and had lots of pillows that were great.

It is walking distance to the Ctrain. However, having stayed here, pick somewhere else. Pay the extra few $ and get an actually decent hotel. There are lots along the Ctrain route that will suffice. Only pick this one if you like being tortured.
Yes, right behind the hotel is the LRT
Google maps says 23km... so not really close at all. If you want to be close to the airport, book something in Calgary NE.
