I arrived at the Inn On Officer's Garden after a gruelling cross country road trip from Ottawa.
My crossing was compounded with historical adverse weather conditions, resulting in multiple adjustments to my check in date.

Despite this inconvenience, I was received in grand style, seamlessly checked in and found myself in my room which was exceptional in all regards.

My standard room was tastefully appointed, with a very comfortable bed and a level of cleanliness that gave great confidence that guest health and safety is a top priority.

The next morning I enjoyed a stroll around the Inn and was engrossed by the level of history on display throughout, be Royal, Military or local.

The restoration of the building apparently took 2 years to complete.

The Inn is "modernized old world charm" at its finest, with all the amenities discerning travellers or local stay-cationers expect in this day and age.

Every meal I enjoyed at the Inn was top tier, so much so I conferred with the kitchen staff throughout my stay for their recommendations and pairings, which took me on a veritable culinary odyssey.

I've stayed in many bespoke Inns over my lifetime across the globe, but despite their various beautiful locations, historical charm and inviting fare, the true test of a memorable stay lies in the Staff who have been assembled to serve the guests.

This is where the Inn on Officer's Garden excels.

The staff was totally on point. The Inn is currently firing on all cylinders.

What was set to be a standard visit to Calgary became such an enjoyable stay that this is where I will now be found in Calgary whenever I visit, as my experience was that memorable.

I will hold my local meetings here, so guests can visit me here to enjoy the old world charm, delicious fare and outstanding customer service.

If you want a similar memorable experience be it as a traveller or hosting a distinguished event, the Staff of the Inn On Officers Garden will do you proud.

I look forward to my next stay, though with reviews similar to what I've been reading here today, occupancy may become a real consideration as word gets out!

Thank you to everyone at the Inn who made me feel like a distinguished VIP.

Sincerely,
James Dunsmore

We ordered the beef rotisserie dinner (also available in chicken and pork) for two. Ample portion of medium roast beef (enough for sandwiches for another meal), with three sides. The broccoli and green beans were crispy, roast potatoes well-seasoned.
My only quibble was with the tasteless pale gravy. Tremendous value for the price ($32 for two).
Carrot cake for dessert was moist and single portion ample for two of us.

While google had restaurant only available for take out, I walked up to the door, and Maitre'D said "you picked the special Prime Rib night!!" Yorkshire puddings would not have fit in a baseball catcher's glove! Stunning D-R and tasteful showcases from historic days when it was Officer's Mess. I had been here years ago for a Christmas Party. We did not need to know anything more about the menu since we had not treated ourselves to prime rib like this presentation in years. It was OUTSTANDING and our plates barely had to hit the dishwasher. I asked for extra delicious gravy as I found the portion somewhat small. My hubby and I traded our dinners because he prefers rare and I prefer medium rare and we were both thrilled with portion size, flavouring and accompanying beets, green beans, scalloped potatoes done in fine thin slices.
Being a Celiac, I noted menu did not advertise GF specifically and did not see any GF beers on drink list. Recommend searching out Heathen's Brewery which is exclusively GF brewery in NE Calgary and make about 4-6 different kinds. Otherwise Glutenberg brand has something "close" to a Traditional. Hubby thanked me 3 times on drive home to Canmore for our delicious "spontaneous" dinner out.

Chose this place twice due to location and nice small size. I had a rate for a weekday then extended to a weekend and the rate went up, which I missed, and it was getting high for the size room. Parking lot is good size but not paved, more hard packed, but still something to be aware of if wearing good dress shoes or the need is absolute to wheel suitcases across it. No elevators, so not good for people with mobility issues. Location is handy, building is old and historic with lots of great archive photos from the Glenbow Museum on the history of Calgary and Currie Barracks. Room was small, dorm like, but nicely appointed. Love the brightness and multitude of great lighting in the room, good mattress and linens. My only complain was the walls are thin and noise really carries. The first time I stayed it quieted around 11, but quite hot in the room, hen the second time included a Saturday night which was unbearable from noise. The people weren't being deliberately loud, but all sound carried through their walls until 4 am, and I had to get up at 5 am. Someone was also outside with a car radio going, maybe a bit of a hang out. There are no room phones to call the desk easily. I could also hear other people talking in the hallways. For business, I will likely stay elsewhere to ensure my sleep, Also large gap under the door lets in quite a bit of light but can easily block with a towel.

Pleasantly surprised by the decor and atmosphere too bad the food did not measure up.
The charcuterie board had bland dry cheese, a few pcs of salami and very average ham. The pickled veggies were the only redeeming thing on the platter.
Two ordered the artic char at 29.00 and it was over cooked and dry. The other two dishes were good but nothing great
So sad as it has everything that could make an outstanding place. Get a better chef. For two orders to be overcooked is just not on
Will go back once more and hopefully it was just a bad night

We have been to the The Inn on Officers Garden a number of times....Mothers day, Family birthdays, date nights etc. Each time we are treated incredibly well with top notch service and food.

The most memorable evening was when I proposed to my beautiful bride one evening at the Inn. The front staff saw me proposing and took pictures to capture the moment. The manager and Kristin ( one of the servers) brought us champagne and took more pictures. Bobby and Anton escorted us to the Queen Elizabeth suite and Bobby even made sure to decant the wine.

This is a special place!
Thank you to all the staff and management at the Inn.
You are the best.

A friend discovered this Inn several months ago and I joined him for lunch on the patio a couple of occasions being pleased with the meals and service. It was time to visit with my wife, brother and sister-in-law to take in dinner. We couldn't have been better treated. Bobby our server is a pro, assisting in entrée selections and wine pairings, provided insight into the many amenities of the facility and a head's up on future wine events. The appetizer and meal were impressive. What was planned as an early evening turned into a four hour stay. We look forward to a return visit shortly.

A friend told us about this hidden gem in the Old Currie Barracks. The Officers' Mess has been converted to a restaurant, pub, banquet hall, ice cream servery and hotel-style rooms. It only opened in October 2020.
We ate in the Memorial Conservatory. (The Snake Pit was not available!!) The menu provides ample choices. We had the pulled chicken sandwich and chicken soup (yes, soup - even though it was 36 out but lovely and cool in). The small bowl of soup was a meal in itself; the sandwich was delicious! The waiter was great and filled and filled and filled our water glasses.
Excellent service and excellent food.

Right from the start the whole experience was not great. We chose it because it was close to family we were visiting. Booked directly with the hotel but it was a difficult process. They don't answer their phones and don't return calls.
Once there we were greeted by the rudest receptionist. Apparently she is also the event planner!
After an unpleasant check in experience we hauled our bags up two flights of stairs (no elevator) to a tiny room. More like a walk-in closet. A small bathroom with shower and toilet. Sink is in the room. Tiny TV appears to be an after thought and is about the size of a small computer monitor mounted on the wall.
Checked out the menu but with a steak dinner costing $105 each we decided to go elsewhere.

All in all a really disappointing experience. Not likely to stay again.

This weekend we rented the Event Hall to celebrate our Mother’s 88th Surprise Birthday party. Antoun, the General Manager and his attentive staff did everything humanly possible to ensure that our event was successful. We enjoyed a beautiful brunch buffet. Mother was an artist and we wanted to gift all of our guests with artwork. We were able to set up 37 of her art pieces with ease. We also were accommodated with set up for a drum circle for our guests. The pastry chef, Carley also created a fabulous artist palette cake which we all delighted in. We appreciated the staff in their entirety to help make this such a memorable event for Mom!! Thank you!!
