We just enjoyed a wonderful weekend at the Calgary Cityview B & B.

I don't think I have ever slept in a better place. Our room was luxurious, clean and very comfortable.

As much as we enjoyed the nights we enjoyed the evenings upstairs before we retired. We both enjoy playing the piano and there is a wonderful piano in the living room. The B & B is aptly named as the house is located on a hill conveniently close to downtown with a great view of the city and the setting sun.

I also have to give five stars to Micheline for the breakfasts she serves.
Not only were they delicious but also artistically prepared and served, appealing to eye as well the appetite.

I have already recommended Calgary Cityview to friends and family, and will certainly visit again.

When I arrived at Calgary City View B&B I fount that the hostess was so very welcoming. With beautiful rooms and incredible breakfast I new we had made the right choice. My friend and I played the baby grand piano available and enjoyed the view of a lovely open yard from our balcony. The location was also a bonus since it was during the time of the Calgary Stampeed (only a five minute walk so it was easy to go back and forth from the grounds).
In conclusion our hostess made our trip possible since she wouldn't let us miss our plane by sleeping in. What a great time! I hope to go back very soon.

I never write reviews like these but I really thought I had to share my experience at this wonderful B & B. I highly recommend staying here. The amenities offered were much like that of a regular hotel. The room I stayed in had cable TV, private bathroom, iron and ironing board, table and 2 chairs, bar fridge, desk and chair for those on business, extremely comfortable king-sized bed, very large closet space, plus a fold-away bed and complimentary coffee and tea in the room. I also had my own private balcony overlooking the Calgary skyline and the Stampede grounds. The common area has big comfy couches, a grand piano, fireplace, stereo system, and free use of the internet if you are yearning to send messages to your loved ones at home or need to surf the web. A full breakfast is served every morning but lighter fare like cereal can be provided upon request. Not only is the amenities top notch but accessibility is also superb. Downtown is a short walk away and if you are driving to visit sites outside of Calgary all highways are easily accessed and only a short drive away. A major mall called the Chinook Centre is minutes down the road if you need to access a 24-hour pharmacy or need to make last minute purchases. The hostess Micheline is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. She can assist you with any questions about the area you might have. Its like having the tourist office in your home. Truly this B& B is incredible. Outstanding location and facilities at the right price. Stay here. You wont regret it.

we stayed at the Calgary City View for one night. and that was more than enough. Having stayed in some really wonderful accommodation in the Rocky's this was such a disappointment.

Yes the location was good, and Michelle was helpful. But it's the only place we've ever stayed where we felt ripped off. If we had paid $100 for this then it would have been ok but £175 was just a rip off, Stampede or not. And as we had been asked to pay in advance, we felt we couldn't do anything about it. I will never book a B&B that asks for this again!

The room decor was like staying in Ritchie Cunninghams house in Happy Days... and not in a cool way! putting a fridge and TV in a room does not make it a 'modern B&B' and there was junk piled up in the corner with a crochet blanket over it. It was like staying at my great Aunt's house.

And the next morning the breakfast was still half frozen, we ate quickly and left hoping the next place would be better!

Sorry, but we won't be staying here again!

This was my first visit to Calgary and first time ever staying in a B&B, it was a great experience! Couldn’t have asked for anything better!
The location was great, the rooms were so nice and comfortable and the hospitality provided by Micheline was just perfect. She has thought of practically everything you might need and she does everything to make your stay comfortable and easy. She makes you feel at home. Thanks you Micheline for taking such good care of your guests!
If I have chance to visit Calgary again, I’ll undoubtedly stay in Calgary city view. I already miss everything of the place.

What a place, they picked us up at the airport and we arrived at night to a view that was mind blowing from their front door. We were made to feel very welcome and felt at home straight away. Thanks to Norman for picking us up and Eric for droping us back at the airport. The family join in the business of making you comfortable. Great base for seeing every thing and great access to the main highways. The weather was great and going back to the B&B every night to the comfort and view was a dream. Cant wait to go back

We flew into Calgary before starting our Rockies tour and decided to stay at the City View on our first night. The location was ideal, 20 minutes from the airport and overlooking the Stampede Ground, downtown was 20 minutes walk. Our room was a good size and was very clean with all you'd expect of a good hotel room. The bathroom was a bit small and the shower had to be held by hand but there was more toiletries than some smart hotels. Micheline, the hostess was a great source of knowledge and was kind enough to make our breakfast very early on Sunday morning (we were still operating on UK time!). I'd certainly recommend this to anyone looking for a very very reasonably priced and centrally located place to expore Calgary from.

Quirky, chaotic, welcoming, fun, strange - City View Guest House is all those things and more.
We wanted to experience guest house accomodation on our tour of Canada and we choose City View Guest House because it looked slightly different, had stunning views of the cityscape, and of Calgary stampede ground, and was close enough to town to walk.
We didn't realise it also incorporated the quirky personality of our lovely hostess Micheline and this made it stand out from other places we visited. Hailing from Quebec, Micheline has brought an eclectic mix of furniture and ornaments into her home which brought comments of "ooohhh look at that" or alternatively "what in the name is that?"
We had two doubles booked with our room on the first floor and the other at ground level - which could have been claustrophobic but for a little seating area outside.
Our room at first floor level was large with a balcony but filled full of 'stuff' which kind of restricted where you could put things.
The bed was super kingsize and the room also had a desk, chairs, a fridge , a microvave and tea and coffee making facilities.
All fine but also had an array of clutter and ornaments which we could have without. THe biggest bug bear was the polythene cover on the mattress which not and made us wonder about the type of clientele they must attract if they have to have to put this on the mattress. It made for an uncomfortable sleep on a warm night.
On the plus side you will never get a better location for the stampede, the place is fascinating, the food is interesting and the hostess absolutely charming and she will go out her way to make your stay a good one.

The missus and I were going to Calgary for the Neil Young concert and wanted to find an affordable place to stay close to the Saddledome. City View fit the bill. We stayed in the Sunfire Room, which was wonderful- King Size bed, gas fireplace, fridge, microwave, HUGE clawfoot bathtub, private entrance- the only critiques I would make are the fact that no toiletries (i.e. soap/shampoo) are provided (although to be fair, we just assumed that they would be, and ya know what they say about assuming) and the private entrance is a glass door with no curtains; someone walking or driving past the building could clearly see into the room- something to keep in mind if you're planning a romantic evening...
The brekkie was excellent: whole what pancakes with fruit & whipped cream w/ bacon. Cooked by Micheline herself, and really provided a homey atmosphere.
Micheline and Ken are great hosts (being a B & B manager myself I can certainly appreciate what they do) and they have definitely done themselves proud with the City View. We'll be back next time we're in Calgary for sure!

this place its excellent if you are looking for a friendly, cosy and comfortable place to stay in a family environment. We are a couple from Chile, we was very lucky to found this place, because we was looking for a hostel but all of them was full, so we found the City View, and we was surprised that the price was cheaper than the dorm room in a hostel but here we get a private double room with TV and Internet. the room is in the house just in front off the bus stop, so if you are with a lot of luggage is easy to get here by bus, we also get the best information from Micheline who is always keen to help you.
for sure we will come back.
