Great location if you want near University Calgary. Surprisingly quiet hotel. Clean, simple, well-appointed rooms. Great value for location. Underground parking is extra $20CAD/night. Lovely, attractive foyer with lots of seating. a nice gym as well. It would be nice if they had a lounge area outside Also, would be nice if they had complimentary tea and coffee in the entrance area. There is only a Nespresso machine in the room to make coffee. No way to make a cup of tea. On that note, there is a Starbucks across from the hotel (closes at 8pm) located in a Safeway grocery store. Hotel is close to lots of restaurants and fast foods chains.

L207UWseagoat, Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on your stay with us. We're delighted to hear that you found our hotel's location convenient and enjoyed the quiet and cleanliness of our rooms. Your feedback about the amenities and services is incredibly valuable to us. We appreciate your suggestions regarding the addition of a lounge area outside and complimentary tea and coffee in the entrance area. These are excellent ideas, and we'll certainly consider them as we continue to enhance our guests' experiences. We're glad you enjoyed our lovely foyer and well-equipped gym during your stay. Your mention of the Starbucks across from the hotel and the nearby restaurants and fast-food chains is helpful for future guests looking to explore the area. Once again, thank you for choosing to stay with us. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back on your next visit to Calgary.

I have stayed at other Alt Hotels and this one is very similar. Because of the concrete construction, the rooms are quiet. Not a 5 star review because they still need to iron out a few things. The switch for the auto light in the bathroom didn’t work so middle of the night a light is shining in the entire suite because of the frosted glass between the shower and bedroom.

This was a nice new hotel. However the hot water never got hot (especially early in the am) and be careful of putting things on the table that is above the little pull out fridge - it got very hot. I’m glad I didn’t have my computer or something metal - it would have been bad.

-Beds were of mediocre comfort. I've stayed in more comfortable ones in a Comfort Inn.
-Sheets were not soft. There were also hairs in the sheets.
-Lighting was harsh and not dimmable. A very jarring experience having to turn on the lights so brightly, especially in the bathroom, first thing in the morning.
The fridge was insanely small and basically unusable for even a couple of drinks and leftover takeout.
-Parking directions aren't clear on the website or in the confirmation email, added another 10-15 min of time trying to figure it out. The spot in the front to park for check-in was way too small and full.
-The website specifically for this hotel said that there was to be a "workstation with ergonomic chair." I booked this specifically and there was no desk or chair to be found. This is false advertising at its best and when asked, the front desk staff weren't able to provide any solutions.
-Room temperature is only allowed to go to 18 degrees, which is not low enough for optimal sleeping conditions.
-The gym was way way too small, could barely even move around in there, especially when there were others in there. A super pointless amenity that didn't do the job.
-It shouldn't be expected that people you're staying in a room with want to watch you shower, the glass in the shower isn't fully opaque, so that was super uncomfortable.

818tynanw, I am deeply sorry to hear about your recent experience with us. It’s clear that we did not meet your expectations, and for that, I sincerely apologize. Beds and Sheets: I'm so sorry that the bed comfort and cleanliness were not up to standard. Finding hairs in the sheets is completely unacceptable. I understand how unsettling that must have been, and we will address this immediately with our housekeeping team. Lighting: Harsh, non-dimmable lighting can indeed be very jarring, especially in the morning. I understand how this would impact your stay negatively, and we will look into providing softer, adjustable lighting options. Parking Directions: I apologize for the confusion and inconvenience caused by unclear parking instructions. This must have been very stressful after a long journey. We will update our communications to provide clearer directions. Workstation Miscommunication: It’s upsetting to hear that the promised workstation was not available and that our staff couldn’t provide a solution. This is certainly not the experience we aim to provide, and we will ensure better accuracy and responsiveness in the future. Your experience is very important to us, and your feedback helps us to improve. Please accept my sincerest apologies for all the inconveniences you faced. I hope you will give us another opportunity to provide you with a better experience. Warm regards,

The newly built ALT hotel makes for an enjoyable stay. A mix of business and leisure guests select this hotel.

The room design is well-thought-out, and everything in the hotel room is new.

The reception staff is polite and helpful, and the maids do a great job cleaning the rooms.

In every room are a big TV screen, electrically operated curtains, a small refrigerator, iron and ironing board, air-conditioning/heating, water kettle or coffee maker, and plenty of quality soap, shampoo and conditioner in the shower.

The beds are most comfortable, with excellent linen and high-end pillows. There is a well-lit work corner with a small table.

However, there is no security safe in the room.

Only the twin-bed rooms (not the king-bed rooms) have a microwave; there was no room service, restaurant, or breakfast in the hotel when this review was prepared.

There is no bathroom scale in the rooms or a weight scale in the gym if you need to weigh your luggage.

The Wi-Fi connection in the hotel is spotty, with occasional long lags. There is, however, a wired internet port to connect a laptop with a network cable.

The hotel is pet friendly but should confine pets and their owners to the lower floors and designate the upper floors as pet-free.

At the corner, across the street from the hotel, is a big supermarket with a diner and pharmacy. There are several restaurants and burger joints close by, some minutes' walk.

The CF Market Shopping mall is 700 meters away, about a 15-20 minute walk.

Overall, a comfortable stay at a good hotel.

This hotel must have a certain kind of clientele because we’re just country folks who are visiting and we were having a look around the facility and a staff member approached us and asked if we came in off the street to look around, I replied to her that we had a room on the eleventh floor. We could’ve been quite offended but just had a laugh later instead.

I stayed at this hotel with a friend from out of town during stampede - so we paid a pretty penny for a hotel that clearly needed to iron out issues before opening. My friend and I have chosen to find the humor in it all, but what a journey.
Concerns:
From the start - they couldn't find our booking and then didn't honor the upgrade to a 2 bedroom room that we had booked. The sofabed was fine - but both nights we had to ask for duvets and pillows for it.
- Our first room - the toilet literally was coming away from the drywall to the point we worried it would come right out of the wall, the shower didn't get more than lukewarm, and there was no fan or hooks in the bathroom. We asked for maintenance to come up the next morning -we left for the day and came back to no changes - went back to main desk who informed us that we were being moved - but this hadn't been communicated to us and there were issues finding us a new room.
- Second room - dim lighting in bathroom, again issues with water and no fan, deadbolt on the main door did not work and the secondary lock was missing - so definitely safety concerns.
In both rooms the cable went in and out consistently and there was no way to connect to a streaming site. In the hallways by the elevators the wallpaper was literally coming off from the corners.

Pros: The staff were kind and helpful and the University District area is so lovely and fun. I think this hotel does have potential when things are fixed.
