I stayed at the JW Marriott for the first time on Dec 1 after the NHL teams departed. From the very beginning with valet parking to breakfast the next morning, this was a superb stay. COVID certainly had an effect on the occupancy that day but the JW were very strict with sanitary protocols. I believe it was Jessica at reception who checked me in. She was very pleasant and professional. As a Bonvoy Titanium member, I was upgraded to a fantastic one bedroom suite on the 20th floor. Floor to ceiling windows with very nice panoramic view of downtown Edmonton. Very well comfortable and well appointed furniture and comfortable bed. pillows and linens. Huge bathroom and wonderful shower. Had a separate tub and two person sink area. The front room had a table and chairs, bar area, couch and chairs. Could use a desk/working area. The JW did have their executive lounge open and I enjoyed snacks and drinks with a very pleasant attendant taking care of my needs. The lounge was open for breakfast but I opted to dine in Braven as Kindred was closed due to COVID restrictions. The manager, Isabelle, served me. She was very attentive and professional. Exceptional, plentiful meal at very reasonable pricing. I had the chef all to myself that morning! Braven is a very beautiful, well-appointed restaurant and I look forward to enjoying their extensive dinner menu on another trip. Check out was very efficient and pleasant.
Valet service is exceptional with underground parking on site. I look forward to coming back and perhaps making this one of my prime choices when visiting Edmonton.

Stayed here in January for a work / personal trip, which coincided with the oilers game. The location can’t be beat, connected to Rogers arena via a walkway, and right in the heart of downtown in the new ice district.

Staff at check in, and throughout the hotel are top notch, and you can tell they know customer service.

I was upgraded to a one bedroom suite, and was really impressed when I walked in. An entry hall to a little bar / serving area, with a large sitting room with the whole wall consisting of large windows. No arena view unfortunately, but a really great open space. The attached bedroom was large with a comfortable bed, separate TV, and a lounge chair.

The large bathroom has entries from the bedroom and the hall way, with a large tub, and a large separate shower. The lighting system take a bit getting used to, but gives you options on lighting levels, etc. This appears to be the norm in newer hotels.

I used the executive lounge a couple times, for hor’douevres and drinks in the evening, which consisted of good quality meat and cheese, salad, cheesecakes, etc. The breakfast in the morning was equally good, much more than a typical hotel breakfast, with parfaits and smoothies, meat and cheese and egg white frittatas, in addition to your normal bacon and eggs type fare. What really makes the lounge stand out is the consistently great service by the staff. A+

Definitely recommend staying here if you’re in Edmonton.

I would like to say thank you to Jessica from the front desk, she was really nice, welcoming and professional.
Corner room has very nice view of the downtown area.
Underground overnight parking with direct indoor access to the hotel cost only $17 with JW coupon.
Breakfast was very delicious, server Isabel was very attentive. Fitness center was not too crowded even though they allow public to purchase for access. Swimming pool was closed for construction.

The rooms were not anything special compared to what you pay, in addition to the room price, you have to pay for parking.
The lounge and restaurant service were not good, forgotten drinks and desserts. With this being said, the food was very good, but small portions.
The check in was advertised as contactless, not the case, they needed my physical credit card before we were given a room.
The Bonvoy app is useless, Bluetooth room key only worked 50% of the time.
I will not be staying here again.

Dear Valued Guest, Thank you for taking time to provide your feedback regarding your experience with us. Please accept our apologies for the challenges you faced during your last stay with us. We will certainly share your message with our partners in Braven Restaurant. It is our pleasure to provide our guests with Valet and a Self-parking options for their convenience as well as introduce the contactless service, if a special rate plan doesn't dictate otherwise. With that being said, we are always ready to assist in case you encounter any technical difficulties using our Marriott Bonvoy App and potentially provide other alternatives. We usually don't stay at places like this, but having the points to redeem for a night, we decided to splurge and stay here, as our primary focus for that evening was going to the Chiefs-Oil Kings game that night. From the moment we pulled up to park, the service was outstanding. The valet was friendly and helpful, and even offered a choice of small stuffies for my daughter to choose one from and keep. Check in was quick and easy, luggage was delivered to our room quickly, and the room was beautiful and clean. We had a two queen basic room.

The location across from Rogers Place was ideal. You don't have to go outside to get to Rogers Place, the community rink, or the Grand Villa Casino. There's also access to a light rail station through the skyway.

The pool area was beautiful and clean. The windows and the natural light are great in the pool area. I enjoyed walking in the meeting/banquet room area, seeing rooms named after former Oilers and seeing the pictures on the walls. The bubble hockey game was an added bonus.

I liked that the concierge had both Edmonton and national newspapers, along with brochures and guides for tourists. We order room service after the hockey game and the food was good and the service was friendly and welcoming. I am disappointed we didn't try the flavored ice, maybe next time.

Check out was easy, the valet retrieved our car quickly, and we were out of there in minutes. I also got to run into Four Broncos Memorial Trophy winner Adam Beckman in the elevator, so that was pretty cool, too, along with Chiefs teammate Eli Zummack. They were the reason for the trip, so it was cool to see that they got to stay there, too.

Would definitely recommend to anyone going to an event at Rogers Place. Maybe the best 40,000 points I've ever used on a hotel room.

My daughter and I spent one night here in February for the oilers game, and I’m glad we did. The service was top notch from beginning to end.

Upon arrival I decided to use the self park, which due to Edmonton construction was a bit hard to find, and not well signed. That being said the self parkade is clean, covered, secure and warm.

Upon arrival, it was very busy in the lobby, and I was a bit anxious. This isn’t a typical 5 star hotel lobby in the sense that it’s attached to an entertainment district, has a large bar, and has a very buzzy energy. However this was the first instance of great service. They had staff members in the lobby ready to intercept guests and get them to the check in, which was a breeze. As a platinum member I accepted the additional points, as I had executive lounge access, so would have breakfast there.

I had a 2 Queen room on the executive lounge floor 22nd floor. The room was small, but well appointed, and very clean with a great view of the arena. I will say say the bathroom was smaller than I expected, but this is tempered by a pretty sizeable shower, and nice amenities. The sliding barn door does have a small space when closed, so if you’re travelling with someone else, take that into consideration.

The lounge experience was perfect. Daniel and Daniel in the evening, and Cheryl in the morning took care of us with a smile and a real desire to serve. Daniel even remembered my daughters drink choice when we came back
From the oilers game. Great comfortable space and good food. Kudos to the staff.

Entry to Rogers arena is a breeze. Upon return I was dismayed to see a line up for the elevators, as the lobby was full of fans, but again, they had that taken care of with staff at the elevators ensuring efficient loading and we were up in a flash.

The pool and hot tub area was amazing, with a narrow infinity type lap pool, and a nice sized hot tub in a really modern space. The change facilities are massive with multiple showers, with body wash, shampoo etc (albeit two of them were empty and I had to find wash in a third). The gym, which takes up the whole 5th floor, is massive. Tons of modern equipment. One item of note, bring your water bottle. They don’t have complimentary water (likely because it’s a private gym guests have access to)….maybe some paper cups for the water machines would be a nice bonus.

All in all, an amazing experience, which has ensured I will return when I’m in Edmonton.

Pros - 5 star service, amenities, lounge
Cons - mushrooms in the frittata

We decided to try a two night staycation at this hotel. Normally we would have stayed at the Fairmont, but I decided to give the newer JW a try. We were not disappointed.

The hotel location itself is great for downtown Edmonton and there are a lot of good restaurants nearby as well as shopping on 104th street. The facilities are outstanding and the rooms definitely have that upscale feel you would expect at a JW Marriott. The lounge is located on the 22nd floor and has a good view of the downtown area. Options were a bit limited for breakfast, but the quality was good and there was plenty of space to social distance.

We lucked out in that we were one of the first (if not the first) patrons to arrive after the hotel was reopened post-shutdown and I can’t say enough about how welcoming the staff made us feel. A big thank you to Irina, Kyle, Dan and Donna-Marie. They were all first class and Marriott should be proud to have them as employees. The only problem we had was that the Bonvoy app doesn’t seem to connect to the hotel as our valet request for our car to be ready was not relayed properly.

Be sure to try out a Braven. The food and atmosphere is very good and we will definitely be back again as a dining destination.

Overall if you are looking for a 5 star hotel experience you should consider this hotel. It is well ahead of the Fairmont with better amenities. The discerning traveller will not be disappointed.

We wanted a quick get-away and we gave the JW Marriot a try as it would be a great chance to try the high-end Marriot brand and see what the difference was.

All in all I wish we didn’t spend the extra money on this property because the service didn’t meet our expectations.

Our room was extremely hot which happens but I was disappointed in the run around we got. They kept telling us to wait 30 more minutes for it to cool down but it never improved so we finally had to ask for a new room at 11pm. My girlfriend has Multiple Sclerosis and the heat is extremely difficult for her. I felt like our concerns were not heard and we were treated as a burden to the front desk staff.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough. From the beginning to end my stay was excellent, and it is largely due to the staff who work there. Their ability to make you feel like a VIP should be noted as is the quality of their service and the genuine pleasure they all seem to exude while doing a good job. My room was excellent, I enjoyed the pool and hot tub and the amenities offered really add up, which can help elevate any trip. It is expensive of course but this is one of those rare properties where you do get what you pay for and now that international travel is difficult or impossible it is nice to have a local hotel where the standards of service and style are on par with the five-star properties one typically finds abroad. I can't wait to go back.

Had to make an emergency trip from 8 hours north to take my son to the hospital over the holidays. Drove over night, arriving at 5 am. Accommodating initial impression, until the check in clerks supervisor came over and ordered him to charge me 2 nights stay, when I was only staying for one night. Justification was that I arrived a few hours before their check in time, so it has to be a 2 day rate. Oh, also I had to pay 50 dollars for them to park my car... Per day. But he would happily waive one days rate of parking.

Anyways. 640 dollars later, I was checked in for 27 hours. Meals were extra. Wifi was extra. Staff was invasive by refusing to let me carry my own bags, following me to my room, unloading my bags into the closet.

It was clean and modern.

But so was the Chateau Nova I stayed at the next night for 500 dollars less. And they gave me free breakfast, a pool, let me park my own car and free wifi.

Highly unethical to charge me two nights stay, because I arrived early. Sun was up. It was the holidays. I was with my child being admitted to the hospital two hours later. Hard pass JW Mariott ICE District. Hard pass.

There is self parking in the underground hotel lot. Cheaper and more convenient than valet. We tend to come and go a lot and I feel bad for the valets so I take the self park.

You could find cheaper surface parking within a few blocks. I am not aware of any coupons.
