Issues with the hot water and when desk staff were told, they didn’t seem to care. Quality has dropped drastically with stains on the chairs in the room and very old furnishings. Not worth the extra costs to stay there!
We had high hopes for an anniversary visit to the hotel; it fell short in a number of ways in spite of arrangements being made far in advance. Welcome drinks were forgotten (and I was made to feel foolish for Inquiring about them at the front desk), our room with had a terrible, obstructed view with bright red up lights shining into the sitting room where our kids slept room, and our dinner reservations that were supposed to be made at the time of booking were not made. It’s a good thing the hotel was quiet that night and we were able to be seated. Overall it was such a disappointment compared to other stays at that hotel, and other stays at Fairmonts all over. Simply put, the stay was absolutely not up to Fairmont standards.
I enjoy this hotel. The staff have always been great, and I was looking forward to a drink at the bar upon my arrival. I had found out after arriving that they have renovations ongoing at the main bar and that a large portion of the common area is not available. It was a little disappointing as it would have been good to know prior to booking, simply to manage expectations.
We haven't been here in a while and we could really notice that things have gone down from our last visit. Clearly understaffed right now and it shows in the facility and the service we received while we were there this visit.
Came for a wedding event, parking was Easy with the Valet, Room was ready well before check in time which was a bonus so that we could unpack before the wedding. Great food, beautiful location. Room was well appointed with great views of the river.
We spent three nights here. we were on the second floor facing the front. The room was a good size, the beds were comfortable and it was nice and quiet. Cleaning staff does a great job. This place is walking distance to some nice restaurants, and Rogers Place. The City Centre shopping mall is also close by. If you walk around the back of this hotel you'll find a set of stairs that go down to the river. There you'll find some nice scenery. The only thing negative for us, is the area around this hotel seems a little sketchy at night.
Went to the restaurant on a Sunday night. It was quiet and the ambience was very comfortable. The service was really great - server Dew was friendly, accommodating, and personable. Enjoyed all of my meal! Thank you!
Loved this hotel at the edge of the downtown area. Our room looked up towards the city centre from above the reception and was clean, comfortable and well equipped. Spent a couple of afternoons in the gardens on lawn chairs just relaxing and enjoying the autumn sunshine overlooking the river. Drinks prices from the bar at the patio area were a bit expensive, but no worse than we paid in other Canadian hotels on our trip. The hotel is situated about 5-10 minutes walk away from the city centre, but the downtown area is grim. Reception and concierge staff were all very polite and helpful.
Great service. Very clean. Great location. Our room was on a high floor overlooking the river, which was great. We loved the restaurant's outdoor terrace, and had a pretty good lunch there one day. The room furniture was a little run down, so that could do with refurbishment. The one big negative was that the air conditioning had been turned off, and the weather was unseasonably warm. This made the room almost unbearably hot, which did detract from our visit a bit. We ended up keeping the curtains closed during the day, and leaving the windows open at night, which kept things slightly more comfortable. Overall we had a great stay, loved Edmonton (this was our 1st visit to the city), and would likely stay here again if we were to return.
If you are unfamiliar with the Mac, please be warned there are TWO Sunday buffets - one is $80 a head (Empire Ballroom & one is less (Harvest Room). And if you don’t figure this out prior to the cancellation window, prepare to be dinged $40 a head whether you go or not. Website directs you to the former with only an obscure mention of the Harvest Room IF you psychically know it’s name & where to look (way down the page). Searching “Sunday buffet” takes you to the pricey one. Terms & conditions can only apply if the description of what you’re signing up for is clear & there is no ‘bait & switch.’
