We chose this location based on the fact that we were going to have a rental car- It's not walking distance to WEM- we tried- it took at least 30 minutes of brisk walking (it was a 5-7 minute drive to WEM)or downtown(10-15minutes of driving)- you ARE close to Mayfield Common, a 5 minute walk, which is an assortment of bigbox/outlet type store- plus you are right behind a save-on food and there's a chinese restaurant right beside the motel that offers a $4 breakfast. (it was passable/nothing out of the ordinary) There are also a ton of restaurants down Mayfield road as you drive towards the mall- all withing a 10 minute or less

These are REALLY basic accomodations- if you want a place to sleep and shower for the night- this is a fair deal- We paid $68/night all taxes etc included and stayed 3 nights total- We're not into fancy hotel rooms w/service and spas -- we like to spend out money on the attractions, shopping, and eating out :)

The airconditioning worked, showers had good pressure and were clean, beds were decent/comfortable, bedlinens were clean, tv worked, and it was quiet enough for us so that we could get enough sleep. Parking was right outside our door which was convenient.

There was a pool as well- we never had a chance to use it. (we went to the WEM waterpark instead)

To be picky- the towels seemed old/worn-they were the yellow/brown 70's coloured towel- we brought out own... and the room smelled like cleaning solution.... we need to air it out a bit. There was also no alarm clock.. which was a bit bothersome. There is no breakfast (coffee is offered in the office), and you pay for your room in advance (we were slightly worried about that, but the room turned out ok) We had also called ahead for reservations.... and strangely enough... they don't take your creditcard number...but we checked in early and there were no problems getting the room.

All in all- the place is good if you're looking for simple, budget accomodations for a short time frame. (summer)

We have spent many nights here over the years and never been disappointed. Beds are always top notch, better than many in high end hotels. We don't pay for the extras we never use in more expensive hotels. If we were spending a lot of time in the room we would look for something else, but for a good night's rest this place is all you need. Usually the staff are polite and helpful but over the years there have been a few who were rude or unhelpful.

This is a motel and typical of most motels, it is about convenience in location and a good place to find a clean and affordable room with or without a kitchenette. Prices vary and can be booked simply with your name. Accommodation has daily and weekly rates, but I stayed for one month and though it is basic, it is clean, affordable and peaceful. The staff are friendly, helpful and are fussy about who stays as they wish their guests to enjoy peace and quiet without rowdy neighbouring guests. The deal with all issues promptly and are always happy to chat and help with travel itineries. Their kitchenette rooms are spacious with a double bed, heater, overhead fan, colour cable television, fully fitted kitchen with dining table (separate room), a table and chairs in a dining area and a cosy bathroom. Linens are crisp, clean and taken care of daily. The towels are fresh and clean and the beds are very comfortable, not the cheaper ones seen in other motels. The main manager is very cheery and polite. The swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna are spotless and good fun, but be advised that the rules are clearly posted that kids under 18 have to be accompanied by an adult in the pool area.

There is a large supermarket, lots of clothes stores and other stores in the nearby Mayfield Common Shopping Center, as well as fast food restaurants. All the major chains of stores and banks are just a short walking distance away. Bus services are excellent and run regularly along Mayfield Road or Stony Plain Road.

The area is fairly safe, though Edmonton in general has had some issues. If you are not sure of safety issues then do ask the friendly staff at the motel who are on duty 24/7.

From 7am to 11am, fresh free coffee is served in the reception. Local newspapers, a map of the city, some brochures and Edmonton tourist information are also available.

This may not be the top hotel in Edmonton, but in comparison to other major chains of hotels, it is clean, hospitable, affordable and the staff will make your stay fun, exciting and inviting. It has a regular group of return customers as it is close to major businesses and a lot of people that return are either visiting family, moving to the city, there on business or just passing through.

I would not hesitate to stay there again or recommend it to friends, acquaintances and family.

I have stayed here a few times over the past months. The staff is generally friendly, although the evening reception officer is somewhat abrupt, albeit helpful. The rooms are basic, but clean. Beds are comfortable. The times I have been there have been quiet, even though the nearby road is noisy, but you can hardly hear it. I felt safe there. There is free wireless internet available. Within steps there is a fabulous Japanese restaurant. The rates vs the value are GREAT.

Two of us stayed overnight here while on a quick shopping trip. The room cost $73. with taxes in so you get what you paid for in the line of no frills and no updates. But there is plenty of space in the room, it is clean, quiet and seems to be in a safe area. It is within walking distance to Mayfield Common and a quick drive to WEM. The only problem I experienced was that we had a non smoking room but as soon as you turned on the bathroom fan all the smoke from elsewhere seemed to come in and the windows don't open. We noticed a lot of the other patrons had their doors open to let fresh air in. So in summary, the venting in this place is old and stinky - this may not bother others but I found it hard to sleep in.

I stayed in a kitchenette suite which has 3 beds. This hotel is very outdated, but it is clean, affordable, quiet, safe, and close to shopping. Staff (and the owners which I met on one occasion) are very friendly. There is a sushi restaurant attached, with very average sushi, which is right up my alley. There are cheaper hotels in Edmonton, but if you want safe and quiet, this is the only budget hotel I been to that meets this expectation.

We had a wonderful time at the Algonquin, rooms were perfect. Met a lot of really nice people all very friendly. We got to meet 2 really cute dogs. Long term or short term this place has all your needs. Great a atmosphere also. Can't say enough good things about this place. Park right next do for the kids and a beautiful pool also. We will be back for sure.

Stayed here for work. I work all over Canada and stay in lots of motels so my expectations are never high. But even still this place was a huge disappointment. I checked in around noon asked for a non smoking room went to room fell asleep right away (because I work grave yard shift) work up around 6 and immediately noticed the sheets and pillows smelled like smoke. I went to the front desk to ask to change rooms. The front desk agent (a 70ish year old male) was extremely rude saying there was nothing he could do. He wasn't there earlier in the day so it wasn't his fault and then proceeded to call the manager tell her "we got a complainer here" not let me speak with her and then tell me there is nothing they can do. Like I said I have stayed in hundreds of motels across Canada and his place was by far the worst service and rudest staff. Don't stay here!

I found the rooms somewhat surface clean...very friendly staff but very noisy ,throughout the nights, people partying , no respect for people that have to sleep. Also , children yelling and running around after hours. Out of a 10, I would gv it a 4.
