April 2024 Lance, at the front desk was friendly and made us feel welcome and at home. He answered all of our questions and went above and beyond to make our stay exceptional. The room was clean, very comfortable and the view of the North Saskatchewan river was spectacular. Breakfast was great. We appreciated the waitresses, Flor, Dip & Linda. They were kind, helpful and kept the coffee flowing. We really enjoyed our experience and would definitely come again.

Hotel's Favourite
Stayed overnight at the Doubletree by Hilton Downtown Edmonton with a friend in June 2022. The hotel is a newer build near the core and close to the Edmonton Expo where we visited for an event. The rooms are modern style with pulldown shade and blackout curtain, comfortable couch, clean, comfortable beds, reasonably spacious and good ambience. The lounge area on the second floor as well as the fitness and hot tub areas are pleasant additions. The front desk staff for checking in and out were friendly and up to standard. The main drawback of the property is its location and surrounding areas, situated in a dodgier area of town. You’ll likely want to spend the money to park as the less costly alternatives mean leaving your car on the street with people wandering about at night. The hotel itself is situated on a narrow lot, so there had to be compromises in some respects, the parkade design being one of them. Parking is secure underground at $28 per day, and it is true what the other reviews spoke of the tightness of parkade entry/exit… please be sure to slow down and take your time. Breakfast is an additional cost if not included in your reservation ($22 at time of writing) – we opted out as we had plans elsewhere. Overall the property’s true representation in my opinion reflects its rating on Tripadvisor. It is an upscale and nicer hotel - once inside, you’ll appreciate the ambience and amenities, but be aware of its location. Please indicate if you found this review to be helpful as it will help me better focus my review efforts in the future.

Great downtown hotel. Staff was very friendly .,Clean rooms and Loved the hot tub. Did not use the fitness center but was open 24 hours. Underground parking was bonus in cold EDmonton weather. Breakfast was good and lounge has some great selections for dinner. Will definitely stay again !

Parking is a nightmare if you own a Yukon or halfton it will not fit in parking. Rooms are dirty. Don’t see the point of a security deposit when the carpets have holes in them. Staff however seems very friendly. The hot tub is down. Paying full price for things you can’t use. Will be staying elsewhere next time in afraid.

I’m 63, well travelled, and I’ve never received service like I had from Karim on reception, who went way way above and beyond when my train was 7 hours late into Edmonton. It’s a great Hilton Doubletree, spacious, and the rooms are well equipped and spotlessly clean.

I was quite leery about staying at this place because of the reviews that I like to check before a hotel stay. I didn’t have a choice to stay here because it was gift from work as a get away for my wife and I. Well I’m happy to report that it is quite a nice place to stay and a nice area to be in. Yes there are many homeless people around the area, but isn’t that in a lot more places than just here? Here’s what I found great. The lady at the counter was really friendly and helpful. Too bad it was her last day there. Everywhere was clean and quiet. Never had any issues with our room. It was well stocked with everything we needed. If there was anything we did need, we just asked the desk and it was there when we came back. This might be an odd thing to be impressed with, but I think the bathroom impressed me the most. Everything worked well. The shower sliding door, the shower, the towel racks. Most places we’ve stayed over the years, the tiles are cracked or loose, holes filled with much silicone, shower drains not working right and many things loose or not functioning properly. This room had none of these issues. Very happy for that. The only thing I wasn’t too happy with is the sliding bathroom doom. Never a fan of those. Also the bed was not comfortable. It seemed well worn. The restaurant was awesome. Great food and great service. The only thing that would be a disappointment if I had to pay for it, was the breakfast. It was good, don’t get me wrong, but it had a buffet breakfast that you would normally get free at other hotels. Here they charge $22. Definitely not worth that. And of course the pool/hot tub was closed which seems to the common theme when we book a hotel. All in all it was a great stay. I would recommend this place.

We booked a King suite river view with full kitchen several months (May 2023) before our son's wedding. We intended to host our family and friends. We planned and packed for a full kitchen. We planned on arriving a day earlier and phoned Hilton reservations to add an additional day to our stay, we were told no problem. When we arrived on Thursday evening 7:30 PM there was a big line up of guests who were unhappy and a very stressed out hotel clerk. He was trying to tell the guests that the hotel had overbooked (apparently overbooking is a common practice up to 30% and they bank on cancelations and no shows) and he had no room for them. They were not happy and yelled and screamed at this poor employee. When we got to check in we were also told we had no room, then he realized we had the king suite booked. He told us that he didn't have the one we booked available but for this night only he could put us in a smaller suite and then we could move in the morning. He also told us not to complain as this was the only room available in the hotel. When we got to the room it was a mess, towels on the floor, no sheets on the bed, garbage piled up and food and beverage containers still on the table. We went down to the front desk and talked to a different clerk and we told her we were told not to complain but I think we can't stay in this room. She found out it was a housekeeping error and they cleared the wrong room. She gave us a new key for the right room but told us we would have to come down and check out and then into the other room at 10am as the hotel was overbooked and it was first come first serve. We had several other family members attending the wedding and I tried to check on their rooms and I was told that I couldn't. The room we had was nice, there was lots of room and the bed was comfortable. This was a large room but not the size of what we booked and what we needed. The next day we were at the front desk by 10am and tried to book into our correct room. We were told that housekeeping had not finished with the room so we couldn't check in. We were told that we could keep our stuff in the current room and then move it to our new room when it was ready. We had wedding things to do so they told us they would phone us when our room was ready. Things seemed to be better and more organized this day. We got a call in the afternoon telling us that we had NO room as they were overbooked!!!!! and we needed to talk to the on hotel supervisor when he got on shift. We went back to the hotel and waited for the supervisor to come on shift. At this time there were many other guests arriving, some got the rooms that they booked, others didn't some rooms were ready most were not. We were then told that the room we booked would not be available as it was first come first serve and we asked who was there earlier than us? He was then going to give us a room similar to the one we had stayed at the day before but we had to wait for it to be cleaned. I asked if we could stay in the room we had stayed in instead of waiting for it to be cleaned and they said ok. We were not offered for our room to be cleaned or towels or coffee or anything nor were we told that there was housekeeping by request only. This would not have been as much of a problem if we had not thought we were moving rooms and we piled up the towels nicely in the shower for housekeeping. As much as the smaller kitchen was nice it only had two forks, two knives, two plates, one glass, one wine glass, one spoon and one coffee cup. It also had one sponge and dish soap. No dish clothes or dish towels. Not great for hosting. At least we had a room. We were ok with paying the parking fee for secured parking but to add to our frustrating stay our family members who had vehicles that would not fit in the parkade, parked in the Impark lot next to the hotel. They got $100.00 parking tickets on Sunday morning, they had paid for the "Weekend day rate" which warning, is only for a day on the weekend and not the whole weekend and it expires at 6:am (which who gets up at 6:am on a Sunday to plug the meter?) As I understand that this is not the hotels responsibility the front desk staff must have heard of this before and it would be great customer service to inform the guests. Overall the whole process was very frustrating and unreliable, we never knew if we had a room, or not. We spent thousands of dollars in this hotel this weekend and felt very unsatisfied.

Hello and thank you for your feedback. I am so sorry to see that your experience was so dreadful. We experienced not only a huge lack of staff at this time but also we could not get the housekeeping supplies we needed to look after our guests. Non of which is any excuse for letting you down so badly. I would be happy to discuss a more tangible form of apology if you cared to email me on michael.johnstone@hilton.com Regards Mike

Please do not book your hotel block with these guys!! We could not be more upset that we trusted them for our wedding weekend and they completely let us down. When we booked our room block, they offered us to come for a tour, raved about how everything would be and it was a very easy online booking for our guests when we originally booked our room block MONTHS ago…. Or so we thought. Everything was going great until a week before my mom checked her rooms online and noticed they were different than when she booked (she has the original booking email to confirm the rooms were incorrect now), she called and it took almost a week for them to figure out because they were overbooked. The kept telling all our guests, “we are 40% overbooked so it’s first come first serve on rooms now” so very few of our guests actually got the room they paid for. One of our parents paid for the large suite and wasn’t given it. I’d say only about 15% of our guests got the rooms they actually paid for. All rooms were dirty upon check in, I’m talking food was literally still on the kitchen table when they checked in, rooms smelled very bad, ours smelt like something burnt in the microwave, garbages left unemptied, etc. Rooms were also not ready by 4pm check in time, some even by 9pm were still not cleaned and ready. Including the grooms room. Please please please do not trust these guys with the one of the most important weekends of your life, it will be nothing but a headache and disappointment.

We booked this hotel a few months ago for a relative’s wedding. We booked a King suite for the night, we heard the hotel was over booked the day before but called and a still had a room. The room was nice and check in/out was smooth. The bed was comfortable and room was relaxing. Down falls were no continental breakfast and we had to pay 32 dollars to pay in the park aid .we paid as this a sketchy part of town.

This place was terrible. Right from the very beginning our stay was a nightmare. We drove up and we’re shocked to see some of the building had been vandalized with a lot of broken windows and doors on the one side of the building. There were also tents in the back of the property. We had all ready paid so went in to see if it got better, it did. The lobby and lady who checked us in was great. First look at the room we were pleased. There were stained sheets on one of the beds, dirty furniture, broken cabinet, no shampoo, no bath towels. There was no information book ( see when breakfast starts.. fire exits etc…) so attempted to call the front desk but the phone did not work in our room.

Hello and thank you for sharing your comments. The area you mention with the broken windows although part of the building is a separate entity from the hotel. This being said we are working with ownership on how to clean up this area. We are also working with the city and the police to try and reduce the impact that the homeless population brings to the downtown area. If you could share with me what room number, you occupied I will go directly to this room and inspect it. I am so sorry that these matters impacted your stay with us in a negative way. My email address is michael.johnstone@hilton.com Regards Mike
