This Place is TEMPORARILY CLOSED Closed for renevations for 2019!!! In 2019, Whistlers Campground will be closed for reconstruction to meet the needs of today’s traveller. When the campground reopens, visitors will be greeted with a new registration centre, 17 new combined washroom and shower facilities throughout the campground, improved campsites, and wider roads for two-way traffic. Underground services will be replaced including water, sewer and electrical systems and many of the existing electrical campsites will be upgraded to 50 Amp service. Parks Canada interpreters put on evening shows all summer long, and a new interpretive trail running through the campground means it’s an easy walk or bike ride to town for an ice cream afterward. Those looking to rough it without getting their clothes too ruffled can reserve new Cottage Tents, where you bring your own food, drinks, axe and bedding, and Parks Canada will take care of everything else.

We stayed 4 nights in a full service site in loop O. This is our second time camping here in the last couple years, both times we stayed in Loop O. Doesn't look like any landscaping has been done since we were there 2 years ago, our site had long weeds and uneven ground still the way it was 2 years ago after them just opening back up from reno's. It is a nice campground though with very clean washrooms with flush toilets and showers. The view of the surrounding mountains is very pretty.

They even have recycling in the campground, not just for bottles but for cardboard, plastic, glass etc. There are food trucks near the playground but we never went to see what they had.

I really like that unlimited fire wood is included in the cost of your fire permit.

We learned that if you need to cut your reservation short once you are already checked in you can do it in person there the morning you need to leave between 8-11am and get refunded. The online system does not allow you to do this after a certain timeframe.

It's a beautiful campground. We stayed here for a total of 4 nights. You can easily walk into town in 30 minutes or take the shuttle for $2.59. There is a Mexican food truck and little bear coffee truck on site. What was a shame is that in EVERY toilet block only 1 shower out of 3 is open. There is obviously a lack of workers, but it is still unacceptable, which is a shame.

This is a large National Campground (<800 sites) that has recently been updated. Most of the sites are back in, with less than 200 pull through. The gravel sites are mostly level with convenient hookups that functioned properly - they are off asphalt access roads. There is plenty of room between sites - but the result of the infrastructure upgrades and the tree removal left a no man’s area that is a mess. Also, when you go for a walk, it will be difficult to avoid the droppings left by the geese and elk. No cable tv, no OTA stations, no included WiFi, but a big sky for satellite. Cell service is good. Their toilets and showers are new, modern, and well cared for.

Wow! Loved our stay here! 3 nights in loop 52 and 1 night in loop 51. Full service lots with firepits but rarely used the trailer water as the showers and bathrooms were spotless. Good sized spots with firepit and picnic table. Saw elk 3 of 4 days! Will definitely come back to this well planned campground. Would not believe they have 781 sites! Will be back if lucky enough to get a site.

We stayed at Whistlers Campground for 2 nights during our trip around the Canadian Rockies. The entrance of the site is around a 40 min walk from the town of Jasper, there is a shuttle bus to Jasper shown on the campground map but it doesn't exist. Facilities are pretty good with new toilet/shower blocks there are plenty scattered across the site but because they only had a couple of showers in you had to queue. The highlight of the site was the wildlife we saw loads of Elk and also a Coyote on the grounds.

Conveniently located close to the town of Jasper, and to sites on the northern side of the park. This campground is huge, but it's divided up in a way that makes it feel smaller. I was impressed with how clean it was. And wow, the bathroom was the best I've ever seen at a campground. The showers were private rooms which was really nice. The check-in building had a water fountain for refilling water bottles, as well as private 1-person bathrooms.

Was excited to finally get back to our absolute favourite campground. The site we'd booked was half underwater. Thankfully they were able to give us another site that'd not have this issue. (We would have been unable to unhitch our trailer without standing in 20 cm of water at the first site). There are many issues with puddles since not enough gravel has been used to raise the beds of the campsites (as Provincial parks sites are). There were even puddles on the pavement that blocked the access to garbage and recycling containers. The full hook-up sites look like a moonscape and because there are NO trees there the winds howl through. We helped a couple who had both their pop-ups blown over and destroyed by the winds. (Be prepared to storm lash your pop-ups!) The most frustrating issue of all was the lack of hot water in the shower houses. I had a cold shower the day we arrived and then reported this to a worker the next day. She said the shower houses were poorly built and have many issues. She instantly went to the shower house and talked to someone else who just had a cold shower. Not only that but the drains are not sloped correctly so one shower room drains out into the main hallway! (And while I mentioning shower houses and hallways...you will find that half of the square footage in the shower house is hallway! The worker advised me to use another shower house! So, while we had a shower house meters from our campsite, we had to walk a fair distance to another one that had hot water.... For a new facility, we were disappointed.

First and foremost, this is a huge campsite. It would be hard to do a blanket review without staying in certain sections.
We stayed in the area of loops 1-10 (mostly tenters and tent trailers). Yes, there isn’t much privacy between campsites because of the renovations. If you are used to provincial campgrounds with huge mature trees then this will get some getting used to. We just camped at Mount Robson and this campsite was a bit of a shocker, but after our four days we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Each group of loops has beautiful washrooms with big stainless steel sinks on the outside with hot water for washing dishes. Showers are hot. Also, there is a sheltered area for groups meals.

Roads are nicely paved with lots of trails and our kids thoroughly enjoyed biking around the campground. Playgrounds are nice and big.

I think within a few years and some of the trees getting a bit bigger this will offer a bit more privacy.

Would we camp here again, absolutely. With all this being said, there are certain loops that do offer some more mature trees and privacy, just need to pick the right loop.

I wanted to echo the previous reviewer’s comments about it being a bit of a moonscape at present. I get the feeling that Parks Canada have reopened a bit too soon, and there’s a lot of snagging to sort out.

First of all, great to have a site with pull through full serviced pitches! A rarity in PC sites, so it made a big difference. The site was very clearly marked out, with signs, and the roads were smooth and easy to drive in all size RVs and trailers. The shower blocks were clean all the time we were there.

The bits which need some work: again, as the previous reviewer mentioned, our pitch was not flat. Fine if you are in an RV or trailer that can auto level, but the big issue was that the bottom half of our pitch was waterlogged. We were only in a 19ft camper, so no big issue for us, but frustrating if in a bigger RV or 5th wheel.
The reception building is lovely but really noisy inside. The acoustics are awful!
I am honestly surprised that PC didn’t consider a small shop and/or laundry. On such a big site, and considering it’s a bit outside Jasper, it would seem really sensible to me.
Showers are clean as mentioned, but again, a lot are poorly designed and water flows into the “dry” area.
Finally, I absolutely understand why the trees had to be felled, but there’s absolutely no attempt at any landscaping between pitches at all - it’s still raw mud, and will be horrific after any rain.
I appreciate a lot of these snags will only become apparent on full use, but come on PC - sort out the basics!

This is our second trip to Jasper from Las Vegas in our motorhome. First time in this campground. This location is very close to the town. We booked a full hook up site (very hard to get when Park Canada opened the 2022 camping season). We originally booked in a campground 30 mins away from town. But we got lucky something opened up for the 6 nights we needed, few weeks before our trip.

Other reviews mentioned the lack of surrounding trees. They do have trees. But some are still small. There is a brand new shower right behind our site (we never used it as we have full hook up). There are cow elks grazing all around the campground (which is a sight to see). I highly recommend this campground if visiting Jasper.

Hello, Yes, you can BBQ on the firepits. Some have grills, so we recommend bringing your own. Please remember to practice safe bear campsite tactics and ensure all food and grease is cleaned up. Have a great camping trip!

Check-in is after 2:00 pm. The kiosk is open until 11:00 pm. If you come after 11:00 pm then you can just let them know in the morning you've arrived.
