Detailed Reviews
We stayed at the Lobstick over the Christmas break 2019 for a two night family ski trip.
Overall we gave it 4 out of 5. Not the Ritz but quite serviceable for our needs.
Price was $ 130 plus taxes which is OK, not a bargain but this is high season
Location is a little far from the main part of downtown, about a 20 minute walk (1.5 km).
Check-In took quite a while (20 minutes). They were slam dunked: maximum staff (two) on duty but were hampered by number of work stations.
Service was great. No problem with leaving our bags at the hotel while we skied our last day. The lady in the breakfast buffet remembered my preference for decaf' coffee after only one morning!
Halls / public spaces in the building are in good shape, no "stale hotel" smell.
Our room #148 was more than adequate size for its two Queen beds.
All services worked although like most hotels, there are nowhere near enough plugs in the walls. Carpet, paint etc looked like it had received some love.
The bed was good, about normal for a good hotel.
Bathroom was very good. Obviously a complete renovation, and recently done.
No dust bunnies noted.
Noise wasn't the concern for us it was for other reviewers. Especially considering the very full state of the hotel. There is no big loud rockin' bar.
Internet (Shaw Open) worked quite well. Coffee maker thankfully was stocked with decaf'. Fridge was quiet.
Breakfast was really good. They have two buffet options, $14 for "cold" and $17.25 "hot". "Cold" is good with nice fresh porridge in addition to the usual dry cereals; however little protein (yoghurt but no cold meats, hard boiled eggs etc)
One issue was the hot tubs in the pool area. There are two, one in and one outside, small and probably adequate sized 99% of the time, but too full to get in our first night. Also the aerated jets in the indoor pool were kaput. Really could have used that extra massage effect after a day skiing!
Room tips: Note that floor #1 at the Lobstick is actually a half basement. Rooms in the hall with the rooms numbered in the 100-teens are noisier: that is the main route to the pool.

It was our first time to visit a hotel since travel was allowed during the pandemic. Many hotels were closed in Jasper but the Lobstick was open and was reasonably priced. It was very busy with travelers and was almost sold out which was a surprise. They were following distancing protocols when dealing with staff and cleaning rooms. Restaurant and pools were closed. Overall, room was clean and comfortable. Hallways a little dated but would stay there again.

Average hotel. Average price. Good points are the room was clean and nice. So is the lobby. Staff was nice, said we could keep our mountain bikes in room as well. Also lots of parking. Bad points are the hallways could sure use an upgrade. Dark, poorly lit at night., ugly puke green wallpaper and carpet that belongs in a 1970;s rumpus room, and a picture with a severely busted frame hanging on the wall. ( nobody seemed to care about removing or replacing it in the three days we were there). You think they would at least take it down. Also stay away from the Starbucks in the lobby. Spent 10 bucks for 2 regular coffees and got handed the cups and the lady pointed to a carafe on the other counter. I’ve been to Starbucks all over the world ( New York, Manila, Mexico, etc) and have never been handed an empty cup and had to go do it myself. I thought that was why I was paying the high price for. Might as well go to 7-11 Then the cashier seemed miffed that I didn’t give a tip. The hotel might say “ oh it’s the Covid thing” but I was at Starbucks in Canmore 2 weeks ago and they still poured it and handed it to me ready to go.

The hotel was drab, dingy and dated. It was the most expensive hotel we have stayed at so far in our trip through the Rockies and it was also the worst. The only reason this place can get away with charging so much is the location. Many of the rooms were obviously booked as part of a tour package ( if you aren’t on a tour then try to book somewhere else). As other reviewers have said, access is difficult if you have any kind of mobility problems, no air conditioning makes the rooms very stuffy. The room was not serviced for 3 days (supposedly because of Covid) but the overall standard of cleanliness did not show any kind of deep cleaning. We had to ask repeatedly for our garbage to be emptied. Toiletries and room supplies were of the cheapest quality and again not replaced daily. The staff seemed unmotivated and inexperienced. The only positive is the fact that the beds were comfortable. The final straw was the attempt to add an “eco tax” to the price we had agreed on with booking.com- if they were seriously concerned about the environment then perhaps they shouldn’t be allowing several tour coaches from idling their engines while unloading and loading outside of the hotel.

The Lobstick Lodge is a great place to party. I know this because the suite next to my family managed to bring a karaoke machine into the lodge and drink and sing until 1 am without being disturbed by things like pesky security people.
When my family decided at 5 am to start packing up after a night of little sleep, I asked the front desk where I could find coffee. The response? Tim Horton's. When I advised the front desk that our stay was the worst stay I've ever had in a hotel, I was asked why I hadn't complained, especially as I was in the suite next door (which the clerk identified by number so clearly she was aware of the party). My response? 1) the button on the phone to call the front desk wouldn't work (2) I wasn't about to leave my kids in the middle of the night to go to the front desk and (3) why was it my responsibility as a paying guest to confront the people coming in and out of the lodge all night to attend the party? Based on the amount of bottle and cigarette butts littering the lawn outside, there were quite a few.
I did write to the lodge to complain without response and so I feel justified in sharing this rating.
The best part? By 6 am it was light enough that we could leave and not worry about hitting wildlife.
Do not stay in this lodge.

I can comfortably say , this was the most worn down hotel I stayed in Canada . Room was dirty , pet stayed in the room before and the beds were twin and plus very uncomfortable .
This play still remain in 90s .
Unless an emergency , will never stay there again
It was relatively low price but I rather Spend extra $50 a night and stay at a cleaner place

I’m giving Lobstick Lodge a solid 4. I came with very low expectations, as a fussy customer and having read all the negative reviews, but I was really pleasantly surprised. Yes, the decor is slightly dated, but our (deluxe) room was spacious and spotlessly clean. There is no air con, but we’re British so don’t expect it(!)- and the fan plus mosquito nets on the open windows meant it wasn’t too bad at night, even in the August heat. There was no housekeeping, but we’ve stayed in several bigger hotels on this trip, and most of them only offered housekeeping if requested the day before, so not that different here. The pool and hot tubs are also clean and we didn’t struggle to park even though the hotel was full. Probably the biggest drawback was that there was no cafe, bar or restaurant open on site. Generally, though, we enjoyed our stay.

When you first walk into the hotel you’ll notice it is very old and dated. After a ride in an elevator older then most of the mountains surrounding Jasper, you’ll get to your room and the minute you open the door you’ll be hit with the smells of mildew and urine. After you’ve walked thru the room you’ll see its extremely dated and small. The bathroom has no counter space and no room to move around. But the biggest problem is that there is no air conditioning. They try and make up for it by supplying two table fans which do help at all. To recap, this hotel is old, smelly, uncomfortably warm and has either very thin walls or just really loud guests. Although this could all be understood if it was priced accordingly. But we paid over 250$ a night, so please take my word and stay somewhere else.

The rooms are perfect if you’re not looking to do anything but sleep in the hotel! They’re clean, renovated, and come with all the essentials- coffee maker, mini fridge, iron, blow dryer, etc…
My only mild complaint is that we had to keep our blinds open for fresh air at night. Being on the ground floor (which is half in the basement) and facing the parking lot, not only could people look in, each car that drove into the lot gave us a light show. We were generally unbothered by this, however it’s something to inquire about up on booking.

This hotel is about a 10 - 15 minute walk into town. My recommendation is to get a room on the 3rd floor and ask for a kitchen. The rooms that start with a 1 are in the basement and they are very dark. The hallway in the basement goes towards the pool so it can get noisy. The pool was not is use when I was there. However, a person can book a time at the Marmot hotel to use there pool. There is no air conditioning but there are fans in the rooms. The floor in my room squeaked when I walked on it. The Lobstick is an older hotel. I stayed for 4 night and there was no housekeeping service. If you wanted anything a person could call to the front desk and get it delivered. The staff at the front desk very friendly and helpful. There is parking at the Lobstick but if the parking lot is full you have to park on the street. When I was there the restuarant offered a $10.00 breakfast. The beds very comfortable.

Thank you for your inquiry. We do not currently have Air Conditioning in the rooms, and the average temperature for Jasper in the summer is anywhere from 20-30 degrees. We will do all we can to accommodate your needs to the best of our ability.
Very close 10 to 15 minutes walk very pretty little town
They have more expensive rooms than I used. I think what are looking is about 240 a night but you should contact the hotel to be sure.
We offer a breakfast buffet at $16.00 per person or a different choices on the menu.
Sorry, didn't use restaurant, but suite had excellent kitchen facilities.
