This place is great. I had attended a wedding here about 10 years ago and have camped in Jasper many times, so I was familiar with the resort, but this was my first time actually staying here. I took advantage of their December promotion, stay 4 nights, and get 20% off promotion, which made the Cavell room rates more affordable at approx $150/night + dog and resort fees .
Great dog friendly hotel, rooms were clean, the area is beautiful and the staff were very nice. As a solo-female (with a dog) traveller, I felt safe at this hotel.
Close to town (<10 mins) and so quiet. Lots of trails are available right from the resort, or just a short drive away. Jasper transit bus stops right at the parking lot if you don't have your own vehicle.
Recommend to bring your own drinking water or reusable bottles. The tap water tastes awful (it's definitely gone through a water softener). There is, however, a filtered water station in the lobby, so bring your own reusable bottles or bring other jugs of water.

This is an odd place. It has a gorgeous location and the rooms, although smallish are nicely appointed with gas fireplaces and nice bathrooms; and some of the services such as the hot tub and Aalto restaurant are consistent with a upscale lodge but in other ways this is a low end property. Landscaping is non-existent and the external areas are not well maintained. The wooden walk- way to our room was so icy for all three days we had to walk in the middle of the driveway with the cars to get to our room. There is no common lounge of any kind. The reception area is completely charmless, consistent with a roadside motel. The gentleman who checked us in was not friendly. The restaurant was closed for 2 of the 3 days we were there and that includes for breakfast so there was nothing there for breakfast or food at any other time of day other than coffee/tea and supermarket-style muffins. This might have been acceptable if it were in town, but at a property that is more than a 10 minute drive from town, there needs to be provisions. The whole place felt like no one was really paying attention to the guests. On the positive side, there were red chairs with a nice gas fire pit in front with a view of the lake.

I recently stayed at Pyramid Lake Resort in Jasper for a 2-night getaway. The secluded location in front of Pyramid Lake provided a serene atmosphere. The spacious rooms were clean, although outdoor lamp shades had cobwebs.
The free WiFi was disappointingly slow, and the included breakfast lacked clarity during booking. At the restaurant, Alto, I discovered the only breakfast option was a $20 dish named "one time," with a peculiar $6 charge for ordering alternatives, regardless of their actual cost.
Despite these issues, there are plenty of activities around the area, including free fat bike rentals and the option to hike or drive to Pyramid Island. The hot tub, however, needed better maintenance as it had soil on the floor and in the tub.
A positive note was the 24-hour free coffee machine, a thoughtful addition. The drive to the hotel offered sightings of numerous elk. Despite some drawbacks, the overall experience was good, and Catherine, the manager of Alto, provided exceptional customer service, making our visit special.

Dear pathmikaw, Thank you for taking the time to leave us with your feedback. I am glad you enjoyed the spacious rooms, the cleanliness, and the location our property has to offer. I was disappointed that you found cobwebs on the outdoor lampshades, and the clarity of the breakfast menu and pricing were not clear during the breakfast service. I will address your feedback with the appropriate department to ensure correct information is presented to all our guests. Unfortunately, as we don't have any cable infrastructure in the location, the internet and TV depend on a satellite signal and we are looking for any improvements to this amenity. The complimentary coffee machine located at our front desk is a welcomed addition to our amenity list, and I am glad you enjoyed the beverages and the exceptional service at Aalto. Your review is greatly appreciated, and we hope to welcome you back again. Kind regards, Pavel Myska Guest Services Manager

I agree with other reviewers that the rooms are quite basic. Also the housekeeping is ‘request only’ which I found a bit surprising as we were there for three nights and had to ask for our bins to be emptied etc. HOWEVER, the location is very special and views are spectacular especially early morning when you get the mirror effect in the calmer waters. We appreciated the kayaks and mountain bikes and all members of staff were friendly and helpful. We liked the location, about 5km from Jasper (which we found very touristy) and you see the most amazing wildlife on the road there (elks and black bears). Just for information, spa is out of order (looks like that’s been the case for a while). Also, we hated the taste of the tap water even boiled for tea. Think this might be a Jasper thing as we we noticed lots of other people buying water in town. I never usually buy bottled water on environmental grounds but I couldn’t drink the water.

Stayed for 5 days. Pros- The views are spectacular, and the rooms are simple but lovely. All the staff I encountered were great. For the most part it's a really quiet spot to relax.
Cons- housekeeping services aren't the best. We only requested it 1 day, halfway through our stay, and all they did was empty the garbage and replace towels.. we sort of expected them to actually clean a bit. I also didn't care for the restaurant on site. Selections were limited, portions were small, and prices were very high.

The bathroom floor in the water closet had spots on it like it hadn’t been cleaned well The entrance I felt was poor because you had to walk in with your dirty boots and all the dirt would be drug into the whole entire room. It needed a bigger mat in the front or some type of boot rack so your boots and shoes were not in In front of the door, where you come in, otherwise the shoes were dripping, wet all over the Flooring And then you have wet socks I would’ve taken my footwear off outside the door and left him outside, which would’ve kept the room cleaner, but unfortunately, it was too cold to be leaving my shoes outside the door or even taking them off outside the door Beautiful location though.

My wife and I stayed for a week at Pyramid Lake Lodge at the beginning of July 2022. The location is absolutely incredible: surrounded by alpine forest on the shores of a lake nestled at the foot of Pyramid Mountain and many other peaks. Guests can pick from kayaks, canoes or row boats to explore the lake, and there are also mountain bikes for those feeling more adventurous. Guests have a free one hour rental every day.
Breakfast, when it is available, offers a moderate selection of more sophisticated interpretations of classic breakfasts. This summer, as is the case throughout the Alberta hospitality industry and especially in the mountain parks, the resort is dealing with massive staffing challenges. This has resulted in the dining room being closed for breakfast during the less busy half of the week. So there is a limited selection of cold items which you must pack in a plastic bag and bring back to your room, there to toast the bread and have your breakfast. Given how well appointed our suite was with a refrigerator cooktop and microwave, we chose to hit the Jasper grocery stores and make our own breakfasts.
The location, somewhat isolated in the almost pristine wilderness, does also offer some challenges. Our running water stopped working for an evening and at night. Judging from the parade of Hydro vac trucks following each other in and out of the site over the next few days, I would guess that this might be from a clogged well or well pump due to sediments from the spring runoff. But I’m just speculating here. It’s important to understand that when you go to a smaller lodge in nature, you shouldn’t expect services and amenities as though you were in downtown Vancouver.
There are tons of hiking opportunities within a short walk of your room, for all kinds of terrain and ability levels. From steep challenging switchbacks to Mountain Summits and elevated Lookouts, or pathways going through wetlands, you can pretty much have your pick. And despite being far out into nature, the Jasper town site with all its restaurants stores and amenities is only a short 10 minute drive away.
For us, the absolute best part of the trip was made possible by Franziska Steiner, the manager at the boathouse. She found an out of the way corner of the floating dock where we could moor our canoe throughout our stay. This enabled us to just go down to the lake in the early mornings and paddle around the perimeter of the lake before breakfast. The water was glassy, the air cool and crisp, and the ducks and loons were enjoying breakfast before retreating back into the reeds from the onslaught of cheerful and noisy paddlers later on in the day.

Stunning, renovated 2nd floor corner room #13,with a lofted ceiling overlooking the lake and Pyramid Mountain. We had an indoor and outdoor fireplace with a large balcony, sunset view. Smallish outdoor hot tub and sauna is onsite, outdoor toss games, fat tire bikes for free 1 hour use, kayaks in the summer, there is a bbq area, a welcoming firepit with Adirondack chairs and blankets by the lobby overlooking the lake. Restaurant is beautiful with a floor to ceiling stone and beam fireplace, delicious dinner, abit pricey but everything is everywhere these days. Coffee and hot chocolate station in the lobby, complimentary. We saw a shuttle come into the parking lot, I don't kown if that is provided by the resort from the townsite but it looks like it is available. Our only suggestion would be better lighting to walk from chalets to the main area and to have the dock area by the water lit up at night. You can't see anything on the water at night from your balcony or the restaurant and that would have been nice.

Clean room and bathroom but possibly slightly dated, but they were clean. Stunning view from the room.
ALl the staff were ever so friendly.
Ample breakfast (which was not supposed to be included) - pastries, fruits, granola bowl, packet juices and a 24/7 tea/coffee machine. This was useful as there were no shops/cafes nearby.
Canoe/kayak are also included to use on the lake - definitely worth it!
Must also check out Pyramid Lake Island - it was stunning!
Whilst the hotel is pricey, I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Firstly the positives. The room was incredible and the views amazing - could not fault it. We arrived not long after the power outage so was informed the restaurant was closed. I’m not sure why the restaurant was still closed when places in town were all back up and running again. Anyway the main issue for us is that we had to rely on taxis to get into town and back. These are an extortionate price at a minimum of 26 dollars each way. We were relying on the restaurant to have our food due to location however had no choice but to go into town each day for breakfast and dinner. They stated that due to the issues with the closure there would be complimentary breakfast the next morning. Initially I thought this was a nice touch, until I went to reception to be greeted by ropey croissants that were not fresh and some bottles of apple juice. Apparently was supposed to be fruit too but nothing left. This was disappointing. If only they could have provided some kind of breakfast hamper/pack I would have been more than willing to pay for it and would have saved us a fortune getting into town. Also a shame they don’t provide a shuttle type service to help people get into town and back - I would even pay half of that we had to for the taxi!
The place is amazing and understand and appreciate the challenges faced after the power issues but just a few things would have really helped and made this experience truly amazing. The comments are made to be constructive and not critical.

Hi
The Founders rooms are the old original rooms. We were there in August and they were not renovated yet. The other buildings with the rooms are relatively new. They were all booked up so we had no choice. However the founders rooms were fine for the price we paid. They are just old but very clean. All the rooms and buildings are close to each other. You can walk to and from the main lodge building from all the rooms. To the lake and around. All close. It’s not a super big place. Very nice though and right on the lake. Away from the town and very quiet. The founders rooms don’t have much of a view because the trees are mature in front of them. They all have a side deck with a couple of chairs. There will be Deer and Caribou walking around the property. The Founders rooms are closer to the main lodge.
There is WiFi but don’t expect much. It is very slow. This place is in a secluded spot between mountains so don’t plan spending too much time on the computer. Enjoy the lake and scenery.
Breakfast is not included. They have a buffet and you can order off the menu. We ate there a few times for breakfast and other times we went into Jasper. There is a great hot tub and you can rent canoes, paddle boats, etc. right there.
Hope this helps.

it is located outside to the left of reception in front of the main building., if you have one of the further cabin rooms it's a walk down hill. I'm not sure if it is weather dependant. It was certainly open in October. Changing rooms good.
There are more places to choose from in the Jasper area.
