We made a last minute stop here at this cute little lodge and we are so glad we did!
We had 8 people staying and rented out both a 6 person cabin and a two person cabin for a night during the week. Both cottages were very clean and well looked after. The two person cabin was so cute and actually perfect for a night away as a couple. It was bright and open with so many nice touches. I can definitely see us coming back again! The 6 person cabin was also very nice and had the perfect amount of space for entertaining!
You could tell that the owners and workers took extra care and covid precautions which was greatly appreciated by us during our stay.
The cabins were nestled in a quiet area which allowed for a good night sleeps but was close enough to town that you could walk to grab a coffee or lunch!
Definitely would stay here again!! :)

We have been blessed to visit Jasper multiple times but we did not know Bear Hill Lodge existed until this recent trip! We were looking for a cozy and romantic long weekend winter getaway and BHL did not disappoint! We booked a studio cabin - #21. Check in was lovely and Covid safe (only one person in lobby at a time - wear your mask!), and the cabin itself was super clean. We were a little surprised initially at how small it was, the pictures and floor plan on the website make it seem a little more roomy than it actually is, but you quickly get used to the cozy aspect. Due to Covid-19, there is no daily housekeeping. We were only provided with two towels and one coffee (and a decaf) for three nights but you can go to the lobby and request more of anything which they will happily provide. The kitchenette is well appointed with everything you would need to cook simple meals. There is a toaster, kettle, microwave, two burner stovetop, as well as a pot, pan, utensils, wine opener, wine glasses, etc.
The gas fireplace is warm and so nice in the winter.
The studio cabin smells new and seems fairly modern, nice large shower and heated bathroom floors!
The only thing holding me back from giving 5 stars is the sound proofing. The studio cabin shares a wall with the neighbors and one morning we could hear every word of the neighbors conversation, hear them opening and closing doors, etc. This was too bad as otherwise it would have been the perfect stay!
Regardless, I would highly recommend it and we will definitely stay here again.
The location is great, and you can walk to Jasper Inn around the corner for a delicious meal!

Despite car troubles (the NOT so ultimate driving machine) and almost having to cancel our trip we were able to book rooms a few days later than originally reserved. Management would only charge a cancellation fee in the event that our room could not be rebooked, but it never became an issue. We stayed in a duplex cabin which had ample space and was extremely clean and neat. The bedding was most comfortable. We were offered all of the usual hotel amenities and were assured of whatever we needed. Convenient to town .The walls are not soundproof, but were no worse than most hotel rooms. The bugling elk were a bit much during the night, but that was half the fun. Highly recommended!

This review is for the Summer Cottage

We arrived here on what was almost the hottest day recorded for Jasper at 30°C. After checking in, we drove the car to the front of our Summer Cottage number 12 and opened the front door to be greeted by the most intense heat ever. We opened all the windows and turned the fan they provided on to try and cool the room down. We knew there was no a/c and this was not a problem. Our second day was even hotter at 33°C but by keeping the curtains closed when we were out, this helped a little.

If you are considering booking this accommodation, here are some points to note:
• The Summer Cottages are small. And when I say small, I mean very small.
• There is no storage for clothes - no drawers and a couple of pegs on the wall to hand a couple of items. We were here for 3 nights and I do not recommend this lodge type for any more than one night, 2 at a push.
• There is no fridge in this cottage and in the height of the summer, this is not ideal. We found a way round this by filling the recycling bin (from outside the cottage) with ice and putting our bottles of water in it to keep them cool.
• The quilt on the bed was the UK equivalent of either a 9 tog or 10.5 tog and is far too heavy. In the summer months, a top sheet and a light(ish) blanket or 2 for the cooler nights would be more than sufficient. We took the quilt out of its cover and used that. Temperatures overnight for us were around mid-teens.
• The kettle and cups etc are located on a table near the bathroom door, however, there is no power socket there to use it. The nearest socket is either on the floor where the TV is plugged in, or by the sofa bed (not sure why this is in a room so small) at the end of the room.
• There are no power sockets located either side of the bed. Actually, there are very few accessible power sockets located in this cottage.
• You need long arms to be able to get the toilet paper.

The cottage could be improved by removing the sofa bed and replacing this with a countertop with possibly a small fridge underneath and perhaps some drawers. The kettle would then be more accessible and safer to use.

Location wise, the town is a 15-20 minute flat walk. It is also free to park your car on site and on the nearby local roads. There are parking charges the nearer you get to town.

All accommodation in Jasper is expensive, as is most of Canada, but I think you get poor value for this cottage against what is provided. However, I would recommend Bear Hill Lodge as a place to stay, but from a value for money point of view, if you are staying more than one night and can afford to, book a different style lodge.

We received a very warm welcome on check in and were provided with all the information we needed. We stayed for 2 nights in a main lodge deluxe room which was very well equipped and comfortable. We were able to use the guest laundry on arrival which was very useful after 12 days on the road. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

My husband and I stayed at Bear Hill Lodge on the September long weekend, we stayed in one of the Forest Cottages that I believe are only available seasonally.
The property was right in town and walk-able to the downtown shops and restaurants (10 - 15 mins). The cottage itself was small but perfectly functional for the two of us, I would not recommend more then two people in that room. Everything was very clean and their COVID protocols clearly explained prior to arrival.
The only downfall we had was our neighbors sat outside at their picnic table chain-smoking for a couple of hours and the smoke blew straight into our cabin so we could not have any windows open. It would have been nice to be able to have the windows open but the fan they provided worked as a nice alternative. It would be beneficial if they had a designated smoking area away from any cabin windows.

We have been staying at the Bear Hill for 25 years. It's the only place we will stay when in Jasper. We always stayed in the Forest Cottages as they were small, but just the right size for 2, and they included a fabulous breakfast with homemade goodies. This visit no cottages were available so we stayed in a Chalet room and we are now hooked on it as it has just a bit more room to spread out our stuff. The Bear Hill is always immaculate with well cared for cabins/rooms, well manicured lawns, impressive and relaxing amenities and exceptional service. I would highly recommend The Bear Hill to anyone visiting Jasper. You will not be disappointed.

I live about a three hour drive from Jasper and go there for short breaks whenever I can. I’ve stayed in a few places there, mostly cabins, because I find cabins to be better value and they just feel more like a mountain getaway. Bear Hill Lodge is my absolute favourite place to stay in the Jasper area for the following reasons: easy walk into town, very clean, very well organized and well run, lovely grounds with flowers and trees, the exterior of the buildings are well maintained, the staff are always very pleasant, some of the cabins have wood burning fires, nice bathroom supplies (L’Occitane the last couple of times), assigned parking spots, and it’s reasonably priced. I have stayed there numerous times over the last 20 years and have never had a bad experience.

From the moment we arrived at this place, we were wrapped  in a warm embrace of a welcome. Amazing and professional Front Desk Staff, who helped us checked in quickly and provided all necessary information with a charming smile.
We have felt the supreme level of service every time communicating with Manager Michal, who was being attentive to any needs and treated our requests so kindly.

Our room was spacious, cozy and well appointed. There is attention to details everywhere you turn.

The cabins in the territory looked absolutely stunning. Wonderful blend of nature and comfort. Mountain view, cabins by the forest, fresh and clean air - that’s exactly what we needed after busy working days in a big city.

At that moment we stayed they undergoing with building new cabins (a great respect CEO for this. It means only one thing - Bear Hill Lodge becoming better and bigger). We are looking forward to stay in one of the new cottages this summer and will make returning to this hotel a tradition for us.
Housekeeping staff was consistently exceeds expectations and we are so grateful that our room was spotless and well stocked with amenities.

Overall, Bear Hill Lodge is a unique place with a pleasant team and a high level of service.

This is a rather expensive lodge, over £250 per night so therefore it might be reasonable to expect a high standard. The location is very compact and about a 10 minute walk from the centre of Jasper but in a quite area. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom functional however the toilet was stained. The kitchenette was adequate however it was without a dishwasher and the fridge was very small, no door on the ice compartment and you had to knee to put items in and take out. The seating was very tired with holes and worn areas on both chairs and the sofa.. we would not recommend or return

Yes, they do. It is a coin communal laundry. There are 2 washers and 2 dryers by memory. The office staff were happy to swap coins if you needed different tender, and also had laundry powder available for purchase. Make sure you close the door to the laundry to prevent wildlife stealing your clothes

We would definitely recommend it. It was an easy walk into town for shopping and restaurants. The rooms were cosy, well furnished and warm (we are Australian, so it was a vastly different climate for us). This was my favourite accommodation in my entire stay.
