Detailed Reviews
This is a large (98 sites) well maintained municipal RV Park just outside the city. They have a mixture of pull through and back in sites - they have mostly level gravel sites off asphalt access roads. The modern convenient hookups functioned properly, and there is plenty of room between sites. No cable tv, no OTA stations, some sites will have access for satellite but most will be blocked by the trees. Their included WiFi was very good always providing a signal that was useful - cell service was good. The park is set up for transients - no monthly rates. No, it is not inexpensive, but sometimes you get what you pay for.

We just spent three nights at the Gas City Campground in Medicine Hat Alberta. Pretty typical urban camp grounds. Neat and tidy and really quite compacted in relation to the Neighbors. As I say that is about what you would expect from an urban facility. If you have a dog and want to access an Off Leash Park you are quite likely never going to find a better dog park closer to a campground. Staff was fairly friendly if not a tad absent. The campgrounds were quiet but whatever wood people were burning seemed very acrid. Almost like someone burning leaves. Not exactly what you think of when you have a campfire. The kicker was the fact that’s we arrived Friday and I showered in their shower house Sat Sun and Monday. During that time it didn’t appear that they cleaned the showers even once. I have no proof of that but this little string that I hope came from a mop was in the shower all three times I used it. Hard to imagine that during COVID they wouldn’t have cleaned the showers but I took a picture of the string and you can make the call
$180 for three nights seemed like a lot but it is in the heart of MH so perhaps you could justify it. I can’t and the little string. Well maybe it will still be there when you get here.

We spent one night here on our way through Medicine Hat. What a gem of a campground, well maintained & treed. We stayed in a full hook up site but would recommend anywhere in the park. Nice views over the city on one side! We found it to be big rig friendly and most trees were trimmed to accommodate higher clearance. Some minor construction on site for upgrade some but disclosed on there website and not bothered by it. Contactless check in for paid reservations - just go to your assigned site! Big dog park and bike trails nearby.

Thought the price was reasonable. Then they charged an extra $11.00. The invoice shows it as non refundable reservation fee, but I didn't reserve. The lady at the desk called it a non refundable security deposit. I felt the city of Medicine Hat should be more upfront with their rates. The campground was nice.

The campground is beautiful! It is so clean and quiet. I really like the way it is set up. Full service includes a dump station right at your site. Has a huge dog park, a skateoard park, trails to ride or walk, close to the rivert o kayak or canoe. A lovely place to stay.

Conveniently located just outside Medicine Hat on the Trans Canada, Gas City is nestled in the rolling hills beyond. Spacious grassy sites are paved and not too close together. The park is filled with beautiful older trees. Very clean washrooms and super-friendly staff, the park was quiet at night despite being kind of close to the highway. Wish we could’ve stayed a second night.

We had an unexpected stop in Medicine Hat last night and were thrilled to find this gem of a campground. We got in late, but the after hours instructions were clear and we easily found a place to park. The washrooms were clean, and there was not a sound to be heard throughout the campground. Our spot had a wonderful view of the city lights. Once we woke up we realized how beautiful the grounds were. This is a well maintained campground with nice sites. We will be back for a planned trip.

Very friendly staff. City owned and operated. Quiet and we had a view out over the valley. Gas plant right below in the valley but not a disturbance and out of sight. Located right off Hwy 1 on the west end of the city. Definitely the place to stay.

Highly recommend reservation. Close to major hi-ways but quiet. Free dump station if staying, also free showers and movies for the night. Wifi very good all around, and pet friendly. Keep them on leash when in the park, and do not park on the grass.

We returned for the fifth year to Gas City campground. And again loved our stay here. The grounds were manicured and very clean. Thanks to Kelly and staff for making the campground so beautiful. They take pride in their work. We look forward to returning next year. We enjoyed meeting Robyn with her friendly welcome and eagerness to assist.
