Owners friendly and accommodating - room was spacious and neat. Few issues: air conditioning barely worked - very warm in the bedroom at times. Also, on a noisy route on Highway 1. Our biggest issue was the bathroom, the toilet was literally slanted on one side and broken toilet seat. Upon waking up in the morning - I noticed that there were hairs throughout the shower, which were not ours. There was breakfast in the morning, however we decided to leave and not stay. Cheap place to stay.

I just checked out of the Ranchmen Motel from a one night stay. I was driving from Ontario to BC and needed a place to lay my head for the night. I decided to stay here based on price as I was trying to keep my expenses to a minimum. $50, you get what you pay for, kind of. The service at the front desk was great, very friendly and helpful. The room was nothing to be desired. Im not picky, obviously, I chose to stay here, BUT I do expect my room to be clean. Food crumbs (large ones) on the floor and garbage pieces as well. I also had hairs in my tub and on the floor, not so nice, I mean really, if your not going to scrub the tub, at least wash the hairs away so guests think you did, and it wouldn't hurt to wipe the walls in the bathroom, not sure what was running down them but it really didn't look too nice. The fridge looked like it had been in a fight, and lost, it worked though so that is all that really matters. Heat, possibly you have to pay extra??? Kidding, but really, it would have been nice to be able to adjust it to a more reasonable temperature. My favorite part was the note taped to the wall above the light switch when you walk in the door "ZERO DRUG TOLERANCE" thanks, you just made me feel really safe while staying on my own as a single female. Anyway, whatever, could have been worse, I had a bed, warm shower, free wifi and it was only for the night. I could have stayed elsewhere but did not.

Whey you look at the faded, giant cowpoke that's advertised the Ranchmen along the TCH since, oh, I suspect ca. 1950, you'd probably wonder just what sort of decay the place had fallen into. A peek at the pick-ups in the parking lot wouldn't install great confidence. But...I decided to take a chance on a chilly, Sept. night when I was still suffering a cold and did not want to sleep in a wet tent. What a pleasant surprise! The Asian owners/managers were very polite and offered me a $5 discount when I asked about an AMA reduction (unnecessary, as I'd already booked). The room was very clean and spacious and the quilted comforters were a very unexpected touch. Lots of channels on the "tele", lots of hot water for the tub, fruit with the minimal breakfast and free wi-fi. And, so close to the highway, you'd think it might be noisy but I slept with the window open a crack and didn't wake up once to any truck noise. If there are two in the room, I'd say it's a real bargain and only 5 minutes from downtown Medicine Hat which, to my mind, is the most charming small town in Alberta. Don't forget to visit Police Point Park during migration.

July 2013 - This motel is really run down. The front desk assured me the mattresses were new and they were okay, but that's the best I can say about the room. There was a great big stain on the floor, the baseboard under air conditioner is falling off, the air conditioning wall socket has no face plate, the wall mounted air conditioner is wedged into the wall with blue styrofoam insulation, the wall over the shower is decaying and really dirty, the shower curtain smells. Only stayed because I arrived very late - too late to move - I checked adjacent motel and their office was closed so I stayed put for one night then moved on.

We stayed at this motel a year ago (Aug 2011) in the newer part of the motel, the room was clean and we were pleased with our one night here. When passing through again in June 2012 we planned again to stay here one night only, very bad decision. The room, I believe was Rm. 107, was absolutely terrible, dirty and run down. I slept with my clothes as the bed mattress was older than I, and the lights on after killing a spider on the wall. We arrived too late at night to make a change or leave. Thankfully the shower/bath area was clean. Too upset to tell the young person working the desk. It is hard to believe they rent that out, that particular room was old and disgusting. We will stop elsewhere next trip through.

I didn't expect much from this stay being that this is an old cheap looking road side motel. I figured it would atleast be cheap but I was wrong. This place would be ok for $50-$60 but $85 was a bit much. The place seemed clean enough though. Nothing jumped out at me and I didn't have to kill anything so it's Atleast better than I expected. I tried not to touch too much though. I grabbed a muffin and cup of milk from the breakfast room in the morning and left. This place would give my wife the creeps. Overall it served it's purpose but I won't stay again, especially for the price.

We rather liked this place. There’s something nice, almost old-fashioned about it. The breakfast is served in a room which looks like a small Victorian museum :) That being said, the air conditioning could have been less noisy and the breakfast more lavish :) Still, it’s a good place to stay for a night.

Definately a bargain. We stayed one night when driving from grand forks. Clean room. Easy check-in
It came with a continental breakfast (6-9) which was almost gone when we showed up at seven.
The hotel is on the highway but was very quiet.
This is a family owned motel. It suited our needs for our over night stay after driving 8 hours. Reviews were good with according to what they charge. Id stay here again. I would also recommend as well.
