My husband, son, daughter-in-law stayed at Juniper Trails for four nights while visiting family in the area. We drove out Dog Creek Rd. and the signs for the BnB were easy to spot and the winding driveway fed our anticipation. We saw the barn with the beautiful horses and then the home itself. I could tell this property was loved and well cared for from the moment we arrived. We were greeted by Steve and his crew (the dogs: Franklyn, Ginger and Maggie) This was everyone's (but mine) first stay at a BnB and there were some nerves, that were immediately put to rest by Steve. My son and daughter-in-law stayed in the Master Suite as they required more room and it was so gorgeous. Wide open, tons of natural light with a luxurious bathroom, you couldn't ask for a more comfortable space. My husband and I stayed in Molly's Rest and it, too, was everything anyone could hope for. Each room had it's own bathroom, TV and very comfortable bed and pillows. On the first morning, I looked out the bathroom window and was as close as one can imagine with two deer grazing on the grass below. Breakfast each day was delightful and was served at your prearranged convenience ; frittatas, omelets, freshly made muffins (banana peanut butter surprise) and scones, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal and Kicking Horse coffee. I believe the BnB was full but I never felt crowded or rushed. I met a few fellow guests-some from BC, a couple from Germany and a man from England. The art on display is breathtaking. Beautiful displays of local scenery help you get an idea of the history and culture of the Cariboo, Chilcoltin area & people. One aspect that is rarely mentioned in reviews or ads are the amenities in the lounge for guest's use- there is a fridge, kettle, slow cooker, dishes, cutlery, etc. The cost of our stay was far below any of the local hotels and far beyond any of my previous hotel stay experiences. The gardens and trails are spectacular and it is obvious that the owners take great pride in their home. The hosts are actually what makes this place #1! Friendly, welcoming, filled with knowledge, obviously intelligent but down-to-earth, open minded and casual, all at the same time! We enjoyed ourselves immensely and have tentatively booked a room for our next visit. Thank you so much Steve and Emily.…
My wife and I recently traveled to Williams Lake to visit our daughter and grandkids. We have stayed at two hotels in Williams Lake for previous visits and were gravely disappointed by the facilities. So, on this trip we decided to try something different, which is why we picked Juniper Trails BnB. It was the right call, and likely the call we'll be making for future trips to Williams Lake. This place is amazing. It is clean, spacious, great view, modern (with a rustic vibe), and the owner, Steve Harkies, is a friendly and accommodating guy. Juniper is a bit outside of the city, which is actually a good thing. You get a taste of nature, in addition to being in a nice piece of country. The house is amazing. Steve has done a lot of good work to make this place a BnB. You can tell he is very proud of his place - and for good reason. Our room was The Dukes. Very clean with lots of room. It has a full bedroom and full bathroom. We also had a nice view of the grounds from our room. The bed is quite comfortable. It's a queen bed, so room for 2. It should be noted that Steve makes one hell of am omelette. My wife very much enjoyed her breakfast while we were there. It's a nice drive into and from town. Also, you have all of nature to walk in during the day and evening. We saw a lot of wildlife while we were there, but nothing that would eat us. I definitely recommend this place while you're in Williams Lake.…
I have been staying at Juniper Trails while working in the Williams Lake area on and off for the past three months. I didn't want to leave my young kitten at home while away so long and it has been fantastic having her here with me! Steve and Emily (and their dogs) are great personalities, very helpful -Steve sweeps snow off my truck :) and makes me early breakfast!! - and the accommodations are amazing! I can't say enough good things about my time here, WAY better than staying in a hotel. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a comfortable spot, with amazing views, a dandy soaker tub, and goofy dogs greeting you every day. Happy trails, Val
Cutest dogs in North America. A Delightful welcoming committee. Stunning property and home grown kale for breakfast frittata. Very friendly and comfortable room. Pawfect place to stay in Williams lake.
We had the great good fortune of staying at Juniper Trails in late July. Steve was instrumental in assisting us with organizing a reunion with friends we hadn't seen in 8 years, and we honestly couldn't have found a more beautiful location or comfortable accommodation to 3 spend days catching up. Steve is THE nicest guy - so helpful and welcoming - and the best cook, breakfasts are so fresh and tasty! The house has been cleverly designed, with the guest areas in a separate wing to the host's private home. The en-suite rooms are very spacious and tastefully appointed, and the stylish common lounge area has sweeping views over the property..... a very relaxed and restful atmosphere. Juniper Trails is also home to quite a menagerie of critters, and the highlight of our stay - apart from seeing our friends! - was Steve and Emily's beautiful dogs. Franklin, Ginger and little Maggie were so charming and funny, kept us entertained for hours! So if you ever find yourself heading to Williams Lake, book yourself into Juniper Trails and make your stay as memorable as mine was. I cannot recommend it highly enough - thankyou Steve!! …
Great place to stay. You are greated with there 3 Australian Sheherds when you come in. Their 3 barn cats are also very friendly. Steve is a fantastic host. He knows the whole area. We will be back on our next trip.
My wife and I stayed 2 nights while spending some time biking and geocaching in the area. Steve was very welcoming and made us feel right at home!! Nice quiet setting. Enjoyed a peaceful walk up to the ridge above the property. Exceeded our expectations with delicious breakfasts.
Our stay at Juniper Trails had been months the planning and at some point, because of the fierce wildfires and other circumstances, it looked like we may not make it there. But we did and despite initial confusion about dates (our doing) we soon appreciated the location and hospitality. Nothing was too much for Steve and his baking skills match his artistic flair. A very inviting, homely, peaceful atmosphere waits there and will want you to stay longer. Oh..and do not be surprised should wake up to two inches of snow on the 13th of September !
Five Star accommodation and service for 3 Star prices or less. Hilarious dogs too! I'm going to find an excuse to go back and stay a bit longer. Apparently this review isn't long enough so I have to keep writing which I will do because places as special as this deserve good reviews! Blair Peden Vernon, BC
The kind hospitality offered by the folks at Juniper Trails meant the difference between being stranded far from home and making it back whole and content. I bought a motorcycle sight unseen in Williams Lake that had a fueling issue that only a fuel pump rebuild would fix. I took on the job the morning I was meant to leave for my trip back to Whitehorse; if not for being allowed a spot to work and even being able to borrow a tool or two, I wouldn't have been able to get the job done. I owe my successful return home to the kind folks at Juniper Trails. It's this kind of authentic hospitality that makes travelling off the beaten path so fulfilling. I hope to return to Juniper Trails so I can properly enjoy the kind hospitality, the cozy accommodations, and the beauty of the surrounding area. Highly recommended, especially for those taking the trip up on the Alaska Highway on two wheels.…
