After checking me in during my previous stay (one week prior) and checking me in during this stay with a debit card & photo ID, Ramada kicked me out of their hotel half way through my stay this time around because, apparently, they realized that it was against company policy to allow guests to stay if they were paying with debit card or cash. While that may be a reasonable policy, it is unreasonable to force guests to leave half way through their stay after realizing a mistake was made while checking a guest in by Ramada staff. Of course employees are not perfect and should have the freedom to make mistakes and learn from those mistakes without punishment. However, hotel management should not punish guests for employees mistakes through kicking guests out of the hotel after they have settled in and simply have one night left on their stay.

Ramadaguest2020, Thank you for providing your feedback in regards to your recent stay. We are sorry to hear that you had a negative experience and disagree with the decision made by management. We agree that employees are allowed to make and learn from their mistakes; however upon learning that you were checked in without the necessary requirements we were no longer able to continuing accommodating you. If for any reason we are not able to accommodate a guest we always more than happy to suggest or make arrangements at one of our neighboring Hotels. I hope that our front desk agent was able to assist in helping you.

Room was verry clean room. The bed was comfortable and of a softer side of quite firm. Pillows of various firmness. But the under window heater-a/c-fan unit common of most motels, smelled of mould and stale air. Room was very quiet though. Worst still was that the tub did not drain. 2.5/5

Reenie770 We are very happy you had a great stay with us and that our front desk team made your visit a pleasant one! Unfortunately we do not have an outdoor pool anymore, but that doesn’t mean you cant have fun in the waves still… Less than 3 minutes away is the Cowichan Aquatic Centre where there's a pool available all year round. We look forward to seeing you again, next time you are in Duncan!

it is unfortunate that other family were not able to stay here . the hotel does NOT take cash or debit deposits to book rooms , more family would have stayed , if that were an option for booking , not everyone has credit cards these days .

Thank you russellroger36 for taking the time to provide feedback, we appreciate hearing from our guests! We are happy to receive your 4 out of 5 star rating and trust that you enjoyed your stay. You are correct, we did change our policies a bit over a year ago and no longer accept cash or debit deposits and now require a credit card to make a reservation and for check-in. It is unfortunate that we were not able to accommodate other members of your family, however these policies and procedures have been put in place for a reason and we must adhere to them. We thank you for choosing to stay with us and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back on your next visit to the Cowichan Valley.

We spent a pleasant Saturday night here on our way thru town. Easy parking right outside the room. Totally quiet. Didn't hear anyone else. Room was clean, reasonably modern, had the expected amenities. Nothing wrong with the neighbourhood and we did not see any sketchy people on the property. This is a mid price chain motel by the side of the highway in Duncan, so it's not the Four Seasons, but it's just fine. The staff were noticeably pleasant and efficient at check in and out and at a function we attended in the hotel.

Honestly, I am shocked that Trip Advisor says this is a top rated hotel in Duncan. - the area is SKETCHY .... I’m not talking a little bit weird or concerning. Like to the point where people are approaching our vehicle, banging on windows to do mid-day panhandling, people coming and going from rooms in the hotel all hours of the night (we got back from a concert after midnight and people were still roaming outside). It just generally feels unsafe. - the room is DISGUSTING; sheets had hair in them, grout in the bathroom was gross, tub jets didn’t work even though they advertise this as a feature online. Beds are uncomfortable, it needs to be renovated / repainted / updated. This is an $80/night MOTEL at best. To charge people $130/night or more is insanity — there is no way I will ever recommend this place to anyone. The ONLY good thing I will include in this review is the restaurant — the Old Fork / River Rock has delicious food at a reasonable price. We would return to the restaurant in a heart beat. Please don’t stay here. You’ll be happier if you don’t.

Hello Tracy, Thank you again for providing feedback based on your experience. I appreciated you taking the time to have a conversation with me immediately after your stay to learn more about your experience and perception of the Hotel and downtown Duncan. As we discussed earlier the safety and wellbeing of our hotel guests is always a top priority and to ensure their security we are open and have employees onsite 24 hours. Our team performs frequent and random patrols throughout the evening to ensure all is quiet and our guests have a great sleep. In regards to your room, I sincerely apologize that the quality and cleanliness fell short of your standards. This is certainly not up to the standard of quality we strive to achieve either and it is very surprising for us to hear. I'm sorry this was not brought to my attention right away as we would have done our very best to immediately solve the problem, offer a new room, change bedding, etc. Following your stay we were able to follow up with our housekeeping and maintenance team to ensure that the room you stayed in received a deep clean and repairs. Thank you again for speaking candidly around this matter. I am pleased that we were able to have this conversation and agree on a fair resolution. We always want to receive feedback, both positive and negative as we use this to continue growing and improving our property.

The room was clean. The bath was clean but just a bit plain. The carpet looked recently cleaned and the bedding was nice. The direct access from the outdoors is a security concern and will keep us from returning.

Tim K, Thank you taking the time to give us your feedback. We are happy to read that you found your room clean and tidy; the most important part of every stay! Although our rooms have outdoor entry we take our guests security concerns very seriously. We are staffed 24 hours and perform security checks throughout the night to ensure all is quiet. We do hope you reconsider as we would love to have the opportunity to accommodate you again.
