Based on the price point, I hoped to be staying at one of the nicest hotel offerings in Kamloops. Unfortunately, the opposite could not be more true. This hotel does have a majestic ceiling height in the lobby, but that is where the greatness ends. Upon entering through doors that don't fully close, onto a dingy and torn rug, you will be met my front desk personnel who are unfriendly and don't even offer a greeting. When leaving, the desk attendant did not ask how my stay was (which was maybe for the best, as you will read below). The majority of rooms (including mine) have no natural light, and their windows look out upon the central interior space, which functions as an echo chamber for any and all noises in the space. The sound proofing of the rooms overall is terrible, and even with a white noise machine blaring, the sounds of doors closing and people coming and going in the hallway and central interior area kept me up. You cannot adjust the thermostat beyond turning the temperature up or down, so the fan/AC is locked on and will dry out your nose/throat overnight, probably the biggest drawback of my stay. The decor is dated and mismatched, and there is general dirty feeling, such as the stains splattering the textured wallpaper in the bathroom walls. There was a king size bed that had tiny, overstuffed (non king-size) pillows. The uncovered parking area is not very close to the entrance, so enjoy lugging your bags a distance through the icy and dirty parking lot. I rarely write reviews (especially negative ones), but I needed to share my experience, as this was my first time staying in Kamloops, and I wish there was a review of this place that would have deterred me from booking. I will never return, and will avoid Coast hotels moving forward. …
This is a great hotel for families. Front desk staff was accommodating. Staff managed everyones pool time well, seemed everyone had an opportunity to use it safely. We enjoyed the restaurant, the food was ready for pick up on time. Can't wait until we can eat in again.
The hotel staff were courteous, the room was clean and comfortable, and the pool was fine. Room service was fantastic. We reluctantly booked looking into the atrium, worried it may be a bit noisy (Friday Nov. 25). Unfortunately, it was noisy well after the pool closed. Totally don't mind some noise, but the screaming kids running around the nice garden area for hours (almost knocking over plants and pulling on trees as they ran through landscaping repeatedly) was a shame to watch. Not the hotel's fault, but a lot of disrespectful kids and parents leaving them to run wild. Didn't represent their hockey team too well, unfortunately. Otherwise, a very good stay!
My biggest complaint was that the rooms weren’t in tiptop shape, I had stains on my floor which may be from years ago but very apparent as you walk in the room, carpets are very old, tile in the pool is coming off and the most disturbing part is all of the dishes that ly in the hallways when people are done with their room service, I shouldn’t have to call the front desk and ask them to be removed as People have kids that can get into things like that and it’s just gross to look at as you’re walking down the hall.
Hotel and service were excellent, some carpets in hallway need cleaning, but otherwise always a great stay, service is always excellent, the food from the restaurants and room service was great, room was clean. Always stay here when in Kamloops
The room honeymoon suite was dirty still with hair and coffee rings and the Jacuzzi tub didn't work very well and had hair in the bottom of the tub. I complained to the front desk about it... Mostly got excuses... Cleaning lady did come in and do a quick wipe. But still wasn't happy that I had to complain as soon as I checked in and still paying full amount for the room. A discount on the room or something more would have been nice.
Hosted my wife's party in a small banquet room at this property & had a number of hotel rooms blocked as well. The experience was first class from the initial room booking to the party itself. Staff were great to deal with throughout & we were treated very well!
We stayed here as part of our Rocky Mountaineer trip and it was absolutely abysmal. The hotel is shabby and not well kept. The lobby was dingy and very unwelcoming. The rooms were not cleaned to a good standard. Street noises all night. Our key didn’t work and we had to get another one which also didn’t work. The elevator was small and slow. Not what you want when you arrive in a large group. The only good thing about this place was leaving it in the morning. This was a sentiment shared by other travellers in our group.
Comfy beds, quiet rooms, great location, price is comparable to the rest of Kamloops for a nice hotel. Will definitely stay again if we need a hotel in Kamloops! Front desk staff were friendly and accommodating.
I would have rated higher if it wasn't for the construction outside my room, which started at 7am on a Saturday morning. Staff on check-in never mentioned the construction. So it was shocking to hear the drilling, banging and trucks. When calling the front desk in the morning they offered ear plugs at a charge. If I'd known before I could have been more prepared.
