Good location, functional hotel.
Catering primarily for Rocky Mountaineer stopovers, the hotel does a good job of providing comfortable, clean and well managed rooms. Food is reasonable and breakfast was very good.

Because our tour booked us in upgraded hotels, this is probably the best one in the city. When our group arrived, we were welcomed at the door by a staff member with hot chocolate chip cookies - This always makes a good impression on me! I am writing from the viewpoint of a mystery shopper because that's what I do. It was too warm when we arrived and the A/C didn't seem to cool anything at all so we had to open a window. The small room was adequately and neatly furnished and clean. The alarm clock was set wrong and wifi was hard to access. The fitness center had a remote control that didn't let you control anything except the channel (not volume or the music) and there was no drinking water in it.

Clean and comfortable room. Our baggage was lost by Rocky Mountaineer staff and Anish chased it all up for us, ringing around until it was located and delivered to us at the hotel. In the meantime he found us toothbrushes and toothpaste and was generally very helpful.
We had food in the restaurant, it was good but ruined by the ear-splitting noise from a large party of people at the table beside us - we couldn't speak to one another and my ears literally were ringing, so we had to finish our meal fast and leave.

Stayed at this Hotel on Aug. 26,2021. Booked in advanced and called the Hotel to ensure a Wheelchair accessible room for my spouse. When we got there the front desk staff person told me we had a wheelchair accessible room with a roll in shower. When we got to the room we could not move freely in the room as it was very small and we had to move furniture. Definitely not an accessible room to standard. We tried to enter the bathroom but the doorway was too small ! We have a standard 30 in width wheelchair. The manager came up, said that all of the wheelchair rooms were the same and removed the door to the bathroom so we could use it. Also the grab bars were on the wall behind the toilet! ( not sure who that was going to help?). The vanity was small and right next to the toilet. It appeared to us that they had taken a standard bathroom and simply removed the tub and put in a roll in shower to make it “accessible”. Even when we did get in the bathroom was very small and difficult to manoeuvre.

This was definitely NOT an accessible room and we would caution travellers with disabilities not to book at this hotel. Definitely not up to Hilton standards. No attempt to apologize or give us our money back was made.

I reached out to Hilton Corporate after our stay so the company or the property could try to make amends with us after our stay here before I posted online. The property didn't care to reach out so this is why they're getting one star. Otherwise, I would've given them 2 stars.

The front desk staff at this property are cold and unpleasant that seemed bothered at every question. Because of this, we avoided them after checking in. I tried getting change from the front desk to tip a staff member in the restaurant at 10 am on the 16th of September and was told the “cash system is separate from the front desk system and he can't give me change” - what does this even mean?

"CleanStay" is lacklustre at this property. Dust caked on the remote, phone, Kleenex box, and bathroom counter. Alarm clock was stupidly bright and they made it so it cannot be unplugged. Found hairs of either the housekeeper or previous guest in the bedsheets as well as behind the pillows between the mattress and headboard - yuck. Best surprise was the leftover fecal matter in the toilet water from the previous guest. We didn't say anything as we arrived very late after driving 9.5 hours and needed rest and weren't keen on changing rooms that late in the evening. The bathrooms here are small for DoubleTree standards and our sliding door had difficulty locking, not ideal for families.

We were handed breakfast coupons with zero explanation on how it works during Covid. We showed up and were immediately told that we can only eat a veggie omelette and nothing else. When our server brought our food, he told us that he was wrong and we could actually have ordered anything as we are Gold members - thanks for letting us know after giving us zero flexibility while delivering the food. The second night we were awoken at 230 AM by a loud scratching noise from the AC unit that wouldn't stop no matter the fan setting. We eventually got sick of it and turned it off resulting in a terrible sleep and waking up sweaty meanwhile it's hot outside. At breakfast we had a different server who said that our previous server was wrong about us having flexibility with regards to breakfast choices but “she'd do us a favour” and let us order what we want. Found the entire stay not up to the Doubletree standards we are used to. The location was nice. Front desk staff need work.

Dear WPGKL, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience about your recent stay at our hotel. We sincerely appreciate your feedback and are very sorry we fell short in meeting and exceeding your expectations of an exceptional stay. As a Hilton honors Gold member, you are our most valued guest. Unfortunately, we just had a change of management and we are trying our best to cope up with the new Hilton brand standards. Our staff is getting trained with the Hilton CleanStay Lysol program and we are ensuring that our housekeeping is well trained. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced during your stay in regards to AC unit noise. The issue has ben brought up to our Engineer team and we will address it shortly so that our guests will have a good night's sleep. We are reviewing your comments with our team as we continually work to improve our guest experience. We hope you will consider staying with us in the future and allowing us the opportunity to restore your faith in our hotel. Thank you again for your time and feedback.

Came to Kamloops with a group of friends for a 4 night stay. The service here is terrible. Indifferent front desk person, as a Diamond member they refused to grant any of the member benefits a few of us had i.e. breakfast, points etc. No housekeeping at all even for a 4 night stay. Upon checkout we were told we had to ask for it daily, something they obviously didn't tell us purposely when we were checking in. The goal of management here is to run as cheap as possible and give as little service as they can while charging more. This is clear as the lobby and other areas of the hotel are not very clean and no housekeeping or cleaning staff were ever seen during our stay. We had 3 rooms booked and considered and should have changed hotels during the time here and certainly would not consider staying here again.

Check in process was a little slow and impersonal, the gentleman checking us in lacked customer service skills but got the job done eventually. Room was on a high floor but we could still hear some noise from street below which was quite loud in the morning. We had breakfast included in our reservation so went for breakfast in the morning to be asked for a voucher otherwise we would have to pay. We hadn’t been given a voucher so I showed my reservation which said breakfast included, this was not accepted. I went to reception where a helpful gentleman gave us the required voucher and explained this should have been done at check in. Breakfast was ok. We would stay here again as a stopover, which is all it was on this trip, overall rooms were clean and provided everything we needed but service let it down.

We stayed at this hotel overnight as part of the Rocky Mountaineer trip from Vancouver to Banff. Our RM bus driver left early for the Train Station, as his bus was full - WITHOUT US. (Found out later too many people got on at the hotel before.) The next RM bus driver said his bus was full too, and that we should TAKE A TAXI. He left. Quickly, the Manager of this hotel stepped up and said he would call a taxi, and then he called Rocky Mountaineer Train Station to ensure they would pay for the taxi, and to get the correct address. The Manager waited with us and spoke to the Taxi Driver to ensure he knew we would be met by a Rocky Mountaineer rep so the taxi fare would be paid. The Manager was so kind, calm, and helpful. We appreciated his immediate and thorough action. He should be rewarded by Rocky Mountaineer for helping their customers out of a situation Rocky Mountaineer bus drivers caused. And the Manager should be commended by DoubleTree Hilton for his excellent service to his customers.

This was the hotel chosen for us to stay at as part of the Rocky Mountaineer Train from Banff to Vancouver. I am aware that many are not happy with this hotel or it seems any hotel the Train uses as part of the trip for Kamaloops. I had read many reviews leading up to our trip, but we were actually pleasantly surprised. It was fine.

We were already given a key to hotel room while on the train so check in was as simple as walking in and riding an elevator up to our floor. Room was close to elevator as had been requested due to mobility issue. Not an accessible Room but was roomy and comfortable. Very small bathroom. Not the best water pressure but Clean.

I went down to request a bath mat. The young man at desk was super busy on phone and dealing with people but was polite and remained calm regardless of it all. He managed to find a bath chair as well as the mat. There is a restaurant right there in lobby and an area to sit outside. Bottles of water, pop, and a few snacks are available right next to front desk. It is my understanding there is alot of restaurants ect in the area but we did not venture out.

We feel that we got a good night's sleep and that the front desk met our needs. I admit I never thought to take pictures of the room ect because nothing really stands out. But it was not in disrepair and we would recommend for a affordable choice of 1 night while in kamaloops.

Where to start? This place should not be a Hilton property. I’ve always been able to check in online & obtain a digital key at Hilton properties. The digital key never arrived. We arrive 1.5 hrs early and asked about parking. The guest services rep had no clue about online check in or courtesy or protocol, no greeting, just kind of stared at me, then asked for my cc for incidentals. I asked why, after having checked in online. But she took it, asked for my confirmation number which she keyed in. I opted to come back at check in time, because she seemed out of her depth. When I returned, another rep ran 2 of my ccs on different machines and all came up declined. They finally ran my debit card for the room and incidentals, really unheard of after I’d already checked in online (according to email and the Hilton app). Should’ve left. Staff told me to check with my bank on why my cards didn’t work. During the interminable check in process, 1 guest called down for housekeeping due to a dirty room, 1 guest came back from the garage saying the access card didn’t work, 1 guest came to the desk at reception’s request because the previous guest in the room left something behind and the receptionist asked the guest to go look for it. Wow. Really inexperienced, low tier service not up to any kind of large hotel brand. Facilities wise, parking is under the liquor store next door and we entered through the pool entry as it was closer than the front, then carried our luggage up the stairs. It’s an ok hotel, just aged and not the polish of a usual Hilton/Doubletree. Seems more the level of a locally run, independent, small town motel where the quirky service is part of the local charm. But the bad service for this brand was really shocking. By the way, my credit cards worked just fine, at businesses 10 minutes after check in, no bank holds.
