If you are at a tournament or convention in mid-summer, other hotels are full or over-charging, this hotel meets basic needs. The rooms are clean and of average size, have moderately comforatble beds, the air conditioning works and the bathroom is fine. The price is $20 to $30 lower than similar hotels.

There is no pool or hot tub, or fridge in the room or any other amenity to speak of. The Denny's accross the parking lot is convenient but makes for lots of traffic and I acquired a small dent in my new car (grrrr!).

The staff are helpful, but new. The staff they replaced lost my booking and those of other soccer parents. The new staff apologized and said they had to make staff changes. The previous staff member who lost the bookings said something similar at the time I booked about the staff SHE had recently replaced. The lesson is, for summer bookings in Kamloops, book early and check on it later.

Everyone is surprised that Kamloops gets so busy during the summer. There are many conventions/tournaments there and never enough hotels from June to August to handle that traffic on top of all the tour busses and Rocky Montain Express (train) that overnight.

Our family of 4 adults was travelling from Vancouver Island to Jasper in a hire car and needed somewhere to break the journey for one night and chose Kamloops. We picked the Sandman Inn through Expedia.

The Sandman Inn is easy to find and parking is on a forecourt outside reception. Space is fairly limited but we always found space.

The reception staff gave a poor initial impression; my wife commented that neither of the reception staff we met understood what customer care meant. We had to stand waiting for ages one time while the woman was on a long phone call.

The rooms were basic but OK. Our rooms were in a separate building over the way from reception in what looks like an apartment block, with external and internal access to the rooms. The rooms were hot (temperature outside was 32 degrees) but cooled down once the noisy window-mounted air conditioners were turned on. The rooms had reasonable facilities - the usual big TV, big comfy beds and a kitchenette area with fridge. For some reason only one of our rooms had a microwave and the cutlery/crockery in each room was limited and inconsistent; for example one room had a can opener but the other did not. No restaurant at the Inn; a diner adjoins the car park but we ate elsewhere.

OK if passing through but if doing the trip again would be tempted to look at some of the other travel inns nearby to see if value and customer service any better.

We stayed here for 3 nights while attending a service and visiting our adult children, then we stayed a fourth night the following week on our return from Alberta. We stayed the first 3 nights on the lower floor, and the return stay was on the main floor. Both rooms were impeccably clean, with excellent A/C, a VERY comfortable mattress with quality linens, mini fridge, work desk with high-speed wifi, in room coffee maker, hair dryer & iron, and quality shampoo, soaps, lotion and hand sanitizers. Extra towels (and face cloths) were just a simple request to the front desk. Check-in was fast/efficient and we were greeted by friendly smiles throughout our stay. The next door "Dennys" restaurant was the perfect combination to start and finish our days. We will be back ! Enjoy.

We were in town for unfortunate reasons. My grandmother was in the hospital at RIH. The sandman suites were close and offered a kitchen unit which was convenient. We were flustered and unsure how long our stay would be and Bev at the front counter was kind, understanding and bent over backwards to make our stay as seamless as possible. Very much appreciated in an unsettling time.
Even the cleaning staff was attentive and kind and were great at tracking down whatever we needed.
I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
Excellent pricing, kind staff and clean, comfortable beds.
Thanks again Bev for your kindness!

My stay at the Sandman was as good as can be expected...the room was clean and quiet , the staff was friendly and helpful and the price was right. Although the location is a little out of the way there is a 24 hour Denny's restaurant on the property that provided a good quality breakfast. Highly Recommended

I have stayed here numerous times. This time was also good. Beth I believe her name is, very pleasant as was all the staff. Very simple. Many stairs. Staff all pleasant- housekeeping. I made sure to tell Beth this. I understand previous manager no longer there, she was very pleasant.

I did have a problem with one guy begging for food and money. Made me feel uneasy, as I wanted to help but couldn't right there. Apparently I hear there are people from neighboring property frequently asking for money- unconfirmed. Would stay again. My dog was happy. Unlike a previous property I reviewed, this was a great ambassador this property, for Sandman

Really nice staff who where superhelpfull when we arrived at a very unplanned hour, 4am. Aisha and Ire are so nice to help us out! To have that level of service so early in the morning is great stuff. They also offered to help us out with anything we need in the city from booking bank appointments to getting sim cards

When I booked here I looked at the pictures and the rooms looked bright and clean but we didn't get a room like that. It was dirty. There were numerous things that were broken or didn't work. The only good thing about the room was the pillows. The hot/cold regulator on the taps was broken, there is mold on the ceiling of the bathroom and around the window. The TV didn't work. The cover for the radiator outside the room was broken off. The lid on top of the toilet tank was dusty and dirty. The shower walls weren't cleaned properly. There was old dust on the desk where the TV sat on. The doors and walls were grimy. The toilet seat wouldn't stay up unless we pushed the lid back. The heater didn't work properly. It blew hot air or cold air. When I talked to the person at the desk he didn't seem to care. He asked if we wanted to change rooms but what makes us think another room would be any better??

The so called airco only produces noise and very little cold air. You have the choice between not sleeping by the insane amount of noise, or not sleeping by 30C hot air if you open the windows instead. This hotel was clearly the wrong choice. Xxx
