TripAdvisor travelers awarded us the 2012 Travelers Award for being in the top 25 B&B's in Canada and with our current 5/5 rating of Excellent. We are Nanaimo's highest rated waterfront resort. Our guests love to just simply relax in their recently fully updated luxurious private suite while enjoying the excellent lake views (from any suite) whether that be relaxing in a comfortable bed, sitting in front of a fireplace or soaking in a in-suite jacuzzi tub. For the adventurous we offer year round complimentary kayaks use (including a new 2 person kayak), standup paddle boards or a canoe which are found at our floating dock. If you want to just relax and enjoy the lake view while outside it simply doesn't get much better than from the lake level hot tub. Detailed Reviews
We were so fortunate to find availability at the Long Lake Waterfront B&B. It is definitely a hidden gem.
The new owner and his young daughter (who are charming and so helpful and wanting for you to enjoy your stay) provides everything you will need to enjoy your visit. With a dock on the water and use of a canoe, kayaks, fishing gear, a long board or simply a patio to laze in the sun or shade on a multitude of loungers, there is nothing that you will want for.
The 3 rooms have a lake view and basic kitchen facilities; the large king room has a kitchenette and fireplace that will make fall and winter a great place to relax with a good book or one of the B&Bs vast classical DVD library. During non-Covid times there is even a waterfront hot tub to enjoy.
Bonus feature includes a lovely breakfast that you can eat in the common area, outside on the patio or at the waters edge.
We highly recommend this little treasure. We will return often I’m sure. We look forward to seeing all the tile & cement finishing updates on the patio and gardens.

Highly recommend this place, it's paradise!! Hands down our favourite place to be when visiting the Island. The photos do not do it any justice as the suites are constantly being updated and look so amazing. This Oasis is RIGHT on the lake with stellar views from each room as well as common areas where you are welcome to use. We particularly love the kayak's and being served top notch breakfast each morning. I had to hesitate writing this review as it is a hidden gem and I want to make sure I can come back....lol
I have a feeling over time there will be fewer and fewer vacancies

Wow, thanks for the amazing review! Yes, we've updated all the suites into a more "Nantucket" beachfront vibe. We've also recently added a couple of stand up paddle boards and a double kayak to our water toy lineup! Hope to see you again soon, you were great guests!

My wife and I lived in a standard 2 story 3 bedroom house in the Uplands area, we decided one day that we needed a break away from home, friends of ours had come to town a few years back and told us about this amazing bed and breakfast just around the corner.
So we booked for a couple of nights, it was amazing,
The room had a built in jet tub, great views and the breakfast was great,
Over the next 4 years we went back 3 times just to pamper our selves even though it was just around the corner.

Unfortunately we are going to have to leave a one star review as we were not satisfied with our stay for the following reasons:
The pictures posted on their website DO NOT MATCH the interior decorations and furniture. Since the pictures have been posted changes have been made and the room is much more cluttered with decorations that do not fit the atmosphere associated with a lake house. There is also a massive LED Christmas reindeer (it’s July) directly outside the window that stays on throughout the night. We like having moonlight in our room and this was made impossible by the Christmas beacon directly outside our window.
Secondly, the overall cleanliness and hygiene is lacking at best. Mold can be found in multiple locations within the shower. There are old used bars of soap and old gross liquid soap provided to guests. The bathtub jets are coated in gross black residue, this was only discovered once the jets were turned on and shot chunks of brown and black sludge into the bathwater.
Thirdly, the beds are very uncomfortable. It felt as though I was lying in a hammock, as a stomach and side sleeper, sleeping was difficult and caused me to wake up with back pain both mornings.
Finally and most importantly, the owners of the B&B live directly above our room with extremely thin floors. They were playing loud music and stomping around till after 10pm making a romantic night with my partner impossible. To make it even worse they resumed stomping around a little after 6am waking both us up when we wanted nothing more than to sleep in.
Due to these circumstances I cannot and will not recommend this B&B. I recommend looking elsewhere when deciding on a place to stay.

Unfortunately we need to post an unfavorable review of this B&B. As seen on other posts as well, the pictures do not accurately reflect the property. The suite we stayed in was very cluttered with different furniture and decorations. The ceiling was low which made it feel smaller with also a small bathroom. There was little proactive assistance to support the amenities advertised. There was no choice for breakfast - food allergies were considered only. Each suite was served the same food and what was served was substandard. The lake view had the highway and a U-storage building on the far side. We left early and stayed elsewhere and were not given any compensation from the owner. They argued against our points which also highlighted the poor customer service. Would not recommend

Overpriced and not up to the website review
This was such a disappointment.
We arrived at the site with excitement as the drive to the property was beautiful with views of the lake but to enter was to follow a bizarre soggy, damp rock faced very narrow walk way. Followed by a journey down three rickety staircases. NOT suitable for families or people with disabilities or older!
View was spectacular but the terraces were cluttered with way to much Random’stuff’
Hot tub….was cold
Lake front was spectacular and we had a lovely sunny day to enjoy the view.
Room only had Thai tea. We asked for tea but the host said No!
Breakfast was terrible. I emailed ahead to advise host that we were vegetarian who did not eat eggs or cheese. We were served teo stone cold fried eggs and toast. A bowl of fresh fruit with squirts cream all over the top! AWFUL
Host could not speak English and was brusque and unfriendly
Room was ok. Christmas tree was weird! Jacuzzi bath was nice. No blankets were to be seen as the night was cold.
Hearing the host moving around at 6am above our room was really annoying and it didn’t stop. If more than one room were to be booked out, I think hearing other occupants would be tricky.
There was no 4 poster bed!
Would not recommend this place.

Very kitschy, which I totally appreciate but was not expecting as it turns out the photos on website are old. The owner is kind and accommodating. The views are pretty. The shower was good. The bed was super soft and a bit squeaky. It was a lot of money for what I got. It seems in need of some decorating and hospitality intervention (ala Restaurant Impossible) because the bones are good. I’m rooting for this place but it needs a little help.

My husband and I had visited the property previously before the new ownership. We are very disappointed and sad to say that we will never return again. The poor conditions of the suite and the property is very undesirable for a romantic time! From the moment we arrived to the property, we are challenge to get to the front door cause of the owner huge pick up truck blocking access to the front door, first impression on the checking! The property looks old and falling apart.. The place need updates to keep up with the market. We had visited the Madrona suite many years ago and not much had been done since. Room temperature was not turn on before our arrival, pretty cold welcoming! A sign on the bed ask the guest to remove the duvet cover and not use it, cause the cover are "Dry clean only," they mentioned that is for hygiene reason!! Wow hygiene reason...., YUCK!!! So should the owner replace that the Duvet "dry clean only|" by a cotton washable duvet cover, so it can be washed between guest!!! So that mean probably some other guest might not follow the request .... WOW LOVELY! Dust everywhere, dirty mirrors , smelly bath towels that feels like paper sands... Probably was soaked in the bath tub and left to dry for the next guests! Good luck with the old 1980 type CD players to try to put some romantic ambiance in the suite,<<<< BROKEN>>> Suite included cheap soap from the dollar store, and by the way do not use Jacuzzi bath after 10 pm to not disturb other guest or the owner who steps over your head until 10 pm or later!! Poor ceiling insulation, privacy maybe not. Make sure to not forget to pack your toothpaste LOL Hubby ask owner if we could borrow some toothpaste, cause it was after 9 pm, going out of that property at night safely could be very challenging, very dark and to close to the cliff,,, scary LOL The owner seem offended by our request and denied to help!! Wow we are both very shock by his reaction and tone of his voice. Finally closer to 11 pm the owners finally retired from the kitchen above our suite.. so finally we are able to get some rest... The breakfast was served at the time that we had requested, food was tasty but nothing fancy but eatable. Time to leave and pay , owner never ask us if we had a good night or a nice stay , just like didn't really care. WOW they are so many other nice warm and cozy B& B on the Island, so if you are looking for a quiet romantic getaway, this is probably not your best choice. The Madronna suite is very dated and definitely needs serious upgrades to keep up with the price tag! The housekeeping also need some improvement. New owner probably don't have any experience, lots of room for improvement there. The property have nice view with some great potential. Our experience was not as lovely like it was with the previous owner,

Hello ToSassy, I'm Rebecca and since September of 2019 I am the new owner/operator of the B&B. I wanted everyone to know that since taking over the property that all of the suites, the guest dining area and the landscaping and LED night lighting have all been beautifully upgraded. You mentioned that it should be updated to keep up with the market. Mission accomplished, we are now a market leader again :) Please feel free to check out the pictures of the suites now, the difference between now and then you will recognize right away, its so much nicer now.

My wife and I stayed in the wonderfull, large and clean Lakeside Suite. The interior a bit out of fashion, overkill of design gadgets, but this might be because of different tastes. Breakfast good. Unfortunately I find this location a noisy one, street work across the lake, easily heard, during the day stupid jet boats going back and forth in a sensless way. We found it ok but unfortunately not enough to come back.

We stayed here two nights in the summer and would definitely go back. The place is great - right on the lake, it's a little piece of heaven. The property is really well maintained and the hosts are friendly and helpful. You have a deck with access to a canoe, and kayaks. It was such a relaxing getaway - you can sit at the water and read/relax all day or jump in the lake and go for a swim. They have a hot tub as well. Other amenities: wifi, access to dvds and movies, A/C in the rooms. Gordie made great hot breakfasts for us each morning and they spent the time talking to us and giving us advice about the area.
