We were so fortunate to find availability at the Long Lake Waterfront B&B. It is definitely a hidden gem. The new owner and his young daughter (who are charming and so helpful and wanting for you to enjoy your stay) provides everything you will need to enjoy your visit. With a dock on the water and use of a canoe, kayaks, fishing gear, a long board or simply a patio to laze in the sun or shade on a multitude of loungers, there is nothing that you will want for. The 3 rooms have a lake view and basic kitchen facilities; the large king room has a kitchenette and fireplace that will make fall and winter a great place to relax with a good book or one of the B&Bs vast classical DVD library. During non-Covid times there is even a waterfront hot tub to enjoy. Bonus feature includes a lovely breakfast that you can eat in the common area, outside on the patio or at the waters edge. We highly recommend this little treasure. We will return often I’m sure. We look forward to seeing all the tile & cement finishing updates on the patio and gardens.…
Highly recommend this place, it's paradise!! Hands down our favourite place to be when visiting the Island. The photos do not do it any justice as the suites are constantly being updated and look so amazing. This Oasis is RIGHT on the lake with stellar views from each room as well as common areas where you are welcome to use. We particularly love the kayak's and being served top notch breakfast each morning. I had to hesitate writing this review as it is a hidden gem and I want to make sure I can come back....lol I have a feeling over time there will be fewer and fewer vacancies
My wife and I stayed in the wonderfull, large and clean Lakeside Suite. The interior a bit out of fashion, overkill of design gadgets, but this might be because of different tastes. Breakfast good. Unfortunately I find this location a noisy one, street work across the lake, easily heard, during the day stupid jet boats going back and forth in a sensless way. We found it ok but unfortunately not enough to come back.
Nanaimo holds a special place in my heart . this little b&b was great. Had one of the best sleeps I've had in a long time So relaxing. I did not want to leave Will def be coming back here, hopefully for a few more days this time :)
I loved the people who own this B&B, and for me that's important. They are so kind and accommodating. The rooms were comfortable, the king suite was spacious, the view beautiful. It's not particularly quiet as there's distant highway noise, and over the weekend there was a little party noise, but it's not too bad. There are some huge trees on the property, and it's right next to a smallish park. Very pretty wild garden as well. Boats and such for use on the lake are available.
I was here for 4 days and was looked after very well but also given my privacy. Helen and Richard are genuinely hospitable and available for any questions or needs. Breakfast cooked by Richard, including home made sausage and a variety of dumplings was a treat every morning. The lake outside the door with easy access is a delight. The premises are beautiful and clean. I will definitely stay here whenever I am in Nanaimo.
My husband and I stayed at this B&B during a tennis tournament weekend in Nanaimo. It is on a quiet lakeside slope and the view from our room was truly lovely - sun sparkling off the lake through the mossy trees. We stayed in the Arbutus room with a queen bed. The suite was large and spotlessly clean and nicely decorated. The bed was just right for us and we slept extremely well, partly because it is so quiet there. There are decks for outdoor relaxing which we did not use due to cool weather and rain. Helen and Richard, our hosts, were lovely and we enjoyed the breakfasts - we noticed the Asian flare that others had mentioned and being Vancouver residents we are fond of this style - but the food is not entirely Asian (fruit and yoghurt, eggs, etc are also served). Richard served us in full chef attire (white hat and all). Very dashing. Helen is wonderfully engaging and we enjoyed some very good conversation with her about the world and cultures. It is true that there are stairs to go down (only one flight for our suite) and the house is close to the rocks, however it is all very doable unless you have physical limitations. We felt we received good value here compared to our other travels on Vancouver Island.…
What a lovely place to stay in Nanaimo. Our Guest House was right beside a beautiful lake and our room had such a lovely view. The breakfast room was next door to our room and the meals served up were delicious. The room itself was spacious and spotlessly clean. Canoes were readily available for our use, but we did not have time this time to use them. Helen and Richard were delightful hosts, and told us the best places to visit. We took their advice and visited lots of places in the area. We really enjoyed our stay on Vancouver Island and hopefully, will return in the not too distant future.
Loved this B&B, really pretty location and the hosts were super friendly and helpful, with really delicious breakfasts with an Asian style to them. The view of the lake was really lovely to wake up to, and would stay here again in a heart beat.
We stayed here in 2003 and 2004 for a couple nights just the two of us to get away. It was very relaxing and comfortable. We had breakfast in the room, and our hosts were wonderful. We have been meaning to go back for sometime.
