Detailed Reviews

Loved it. Stayed with 14 year-old daughter in the two bedroom-ish suite. Everything spotless. Hosts (Gordie and Janice) very nice and very helpful. Nice breakfasts and you could tell they were trying to accommodate the tastes of our teenager. Watercraft is available you can use to explore the lake. Our favorite, however, was piling into the hot tub after a long day touring around. Strongly recommend this B&B.

We spent the first night of our honeymoon trip in the Madrona Suite at Long Lake Waterfront B&B and ended up wishing we had planned to stay longer! Gordie and Janice are the most wonderful hosts we have ever had at a B&B and they made our stay a very memorable one. Our room was immaculate and so romantic (with a comfy king bed, jacuzzi tub and fireplace). The little loving touches added to the room (umbrellas, binoculars, warm slippers, etc.) made it feel almost like home. Although we didn't have time to use the hot tub or the water sports equipment (there was quite a selection!), we did enjoy the gorgeous view of the lake and the wonderful conversations with Gordie and Janice over a delicious breakfast prepared by Gordie. If you're looking for a relaxing place to stay in Nanaimo, this is the one!

I've been going here for over 7 years whenever I need a place to stay in Nanaimo. Gordie and Janice are a real treat and are completely accommodating to your needs. The rooms are immaculate... the food is great and the price is a great value... would highly recommend!

Thank you for the review and recommendation for the Madrona suite. As long time returning guests, you appreciate the amenities in Madrona and the property. Thank you also for the cleanliness tip as Janice and her housekeepers are very careful about a clean space for our guests.

I have stayed in several B & B's, but this one was the best. Beautiful setting and fabulous rooms. Proprieters very helpful and accomodating. Great location and many things to do. Unfortunately it was not warm enough to swim, but would love to come back on warmer days. Definitely will come back.

Stunning lakeside location, beautiful opulent bedroom with wonderful view. Lovely breakfast & attention to detail. Great hosts, really enjoyed the free use of the kayak & the complimentary ride on the Seado with Gordie around the lake was fab.

We were traveling through on bikes and booked this place in advance, thank goodness! We ended up extending our stay an extra day just because the amenities were so wonderful. We spent our day off lakeside, and took out the canoe for a spin around the lake. Beautiful location. Very friendly owners! They helped us find our next stopping place, and book our ferry ride from Victoria to Seattle. Breakfast was tasty as well. I'd definitely stay here again if I were to ever come back to Vancouver Island!

When you own a B & B you know how hard it is to find a place that meets your standards. With Long Lake we certainly did. Everything was perfect from the wonderful king bed, gas fireplace, cozy robes and slippers, to the little treats of Nanaimo Bars in the fridge. Yum! The location is perfect at the end of a very quiet street, tucked away on the water. Breakfast was very very good, served by chef de cuisine, Gordie and of course Janice. It felt like home away from home for us and we will go back when our time permits. Keep up the great work!!

We only stayed here for one night unfortunately, but it was fantastic. The location was really lovely, right on the waterfront. I think Gordie and Janice will remember us as we managed to capsize their canoe in the lake! Gordie and Janice were on hand with a pile of towels and a sense of humour. We jumped in the hot tub to warm up!! The room we stayed in was immaculate and I very impressed by the attention to detail. Lots of little thoughtful extras were in place, i.e. woollen slippers, popcorn for movie watching. The breakfast was incredible. We would recommend this B&B without hesitation

This B&B was in a fantastic location. The room we had was deffinitely more of a suite and was spotless, whilst overlooking the lake. The hosts, Janice and Gordie could not have been more helpful, they arranged a whale watching tour for us, (be careful if your sea sick!) which was good fun. You can also go kayaking on the lake with the boats available, which we took advantage of, and the ride around the lake after breakfast with Gordie was great. My husband even did a bit of fly fishing, but caught nothing, which is not unusual for him!!. At breakfast we had a chance to meet the other guests and swop gossip about where to go and what to see. Would love to go back and given the chance next year, we will. thanks for the great hospitality.
