Buccaneer Inn was absolutely outstanding! Very clean, near the ferry and the marina where our dive boat was docked and they definitely cater to divers, they even have a place where you can rinse and dry your gear! Top notch. The owners Dave and Marlene are super helpful too. We can't wait to go back!

Thanks Nehalennia21 for your gracious review and kind words about our helpfulness. We have long catered to those folks here to dive the beautiful waters around Nanaimo (and to those stopping over on the way up to Port Hardy as well!). We have tried to anticipate scuba divers' specific needs and offer services that help ease their experience here. Our...

We stayed for a week while doing some scuba diving in the area. The one bedroom suite was very clean and comfortable. Garbage and recycling items were taken out daily. Our room faced the marina and water, so we had a view and could see the float planes taking off, and boats crusing by. We were very pleased to have...

My wife and I stayed one night at the Buccaneer Inn in early September on the first night of our trip to Vancouver Island. We stayed in the Corner Studio, which was perhaps the smallest room we have ever stayed in!! The bed was comfortable, and it was great having a ceiling fan as there is no air conditioning (not...

We spent one night at the Buccaneer, and were pleased with the clean, comfortable room. Everything in the room was spic and span! Obviously, the owners take great pride in the property and it shows in the guest experience. The owner helped us choose a restaurant, and was generally pleasant to deal with. One general comment is that it would...

WOW!! We decided to stay the night and ended up staying for six nights. We have never been to Nanaimo before and we got to see things that were very enjoyable based on information that was in a binder in our room. Everything from how to get there, how long it will take, what you will see and how to...

I enjoyed my stay here with the personalized service that was given to me. The owners/operators are knowledgable about the area. It is centrally located between the ferry and downtown proper. This is a great hotel if you are a diver also. They provide gear washing/drying areas.

Nice place to stay, Great Staff, Comfortable room, But Air conditioning would make it more Comfortable. Stayed only one night in preperation for a diving trip. Due to timing on my part wasn't able to take advantage of the extra's offered to divers.

Thanks for your review Samara_Sailor and for having stayed with us! The Buccaneer Inn does make a great base for divers to explore the waters around Nanaimo and as a staging spot on your way to other Vancouver Island diving destinations. We agree, there are a few days of the year that air conditioning would be an added bonus. However...

The motel has some special features for divers including a wash & dry area for your gear. If you're a diver this may be the place for you. If not try another place. The rooms seem to date from the 1950's and really need a remodel. The motel is on a major business road and the noise from trucks lasts...

We wouldn't normally have paid attention to a motel like this, but noticed it because trip advisor rated #1 in the area. When we got there we saw it was so cute, well appointed, and really reasonably priced - the value for the money is outstanding!!
