Detailed Reviews
My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel for one night in July. From the outside it doesn’t look like much, but when you get in the room you can tell that the kitchen area and bathrooms have been renovated. The kitchen has a microwave.
The furniture is a little bit dated, but the amazing view makes up for it. Our room had a beautiful view of the lake. Unfortunately when we were there the water activities were not available due to COVID-19. The staff are extremely helpful, professional and friendly. The breakfast room was closed due to COVID-19 and they had boxed breakfasts to go with muffins, fruit cups, Mandarin oranges, yogurt, and juice boxes.
It’s just a short 15 minute drive from the ferry terminal, right on the main highway.

Thank you Judy. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. Covid has indeed taken away some of our "fun" this year, making it too challenging to provide some things we have in the past. Let's hope we can put all of that behind us soon, and get back to "normal" again. I think the breakfast boxes are a workable solution to providing breakfasts for our guests We still try to provide a variety of quality items for our guests even now. Thank you

Overnight stay on our way up island. We travel with a dog and being able to access our room without going through the lobby was a treat. Our room was on the ground floor so being able to access the grassy area & walking path directly from the patio door was a big bonus! The dog wasn’t stressed out and it was lovely to sit on the patio for morning coffee. Staff were helpful at check-in and the room was clean. Lots of room in the parking lot to park our vehicle with boat in tow. Only downside for me was the bed was a bit soft for my liking.

Thank you Janice 998 for the great review. We have a lot of pet owners stay with us, as the location works well for both our guests, and their four legged family members. We love having dogs come and stay with us-many know where we hide the treats at the Front Desk even- and the ground floor rooms work especially well with pets as it is easy access from parking, and to the large greenspace we occupy.

We stayed at The Inn on Long Lake in Nanaimo, during August of 2020. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the hotel was clean and beautifully furnished, and well maintained. There was a lot of little touches- wine glasses in the room, a spacious fridge/freezer, in-room coffee maker, snack boxes for breakfast with fresh muffins, yogurt, fruit salad, and more. Beautiful view of Long Lake from our balcony, Canada Geese swimming nearby, dog friendly, and lots of convenient shopping minutes away. Would definitely stay here again and will recommend to family and friends.

This well-maintained property has large well-kept rooms suitable for all kinds of travellers from business to leisure. A microwave, Keurig coffee maker and mini fridge can be helpful amenities. The location, on the lake, offers lovely views and the hotel itself being off the highway makes for easy access to Nanaimo restaurants and attractions.

We stayed two nights in a room with two Queen beds. The hotel is dated and hallway’s carpet stained and dirty. Balcony has a nice lake view but there are some ants running when we open the door.
The balcony door wasn’t lock properly so we have to call the front desk to have a technician to fix it.
The beds are too soft for my family , the individual A/C unit is quite noisy when it runs, so we felt hard to sleep well. The second night we heard clearly the above unit someone constantly walk across the room back and forward during 1-3 am and really affected our sleep.
1) Room is spacious, come with fridge & microwave, & coffee machine. The washroom clean & updated. Generally speaking, room is clean, except one of the bed sheet has a little color stained ( maybe need bleach to remove it?)
2) free breakfast: cold & limited choices. Quite disappointed. Service from 6:30-10am.
3) service is good and responsive, front desk staffs are helpful.
4) parking is not free since I booked it from Booking.com. $9 one time charged.
5) very convenient location, lots of restaurant around!
6) considered I got a get away deal & paid less than $500
for two nights I would say I can’t complain too much.

I never write reviews, but needed to this time. First off the goods: the hotel location is beautiful, the lake is calm, the green space behind it is fantastic for kids. The set up in the rooms is good, lots of space and the amenities that are needed. The rooms need updated, wall paper has started to peel and just some general updates would really elevate this space. We arrived at check in time and one of our rooms wasn’t ready, they said 15minutes, the room took another hour and a half to be ready; which wouldn’t be a huge deal except the fact that the front desk staff kept telling us such a short time and it would be ready that we didn’t leave and go do anything so trying to entertain 4 kids in a car is a little challenging… our keys were also programmed for only 1 night and we were there for 3, also not a big deal but the staff made us feel like it was the worlds biggest inconvenience to rekey and allow us entry to our rooms. There was no daily housekeeping, and 3 towels for 6 people. We did ask for a few extra towels, that never came. There also was a few very loud very drunk guests on the back lawn our first night that made for a very scary bedtime for our kids. We loved our time in Nanaimo and this could have been an awesome stay but customer service in this hotel just needs some tweaks!

I get the COVID thing, but deciding not to pass the savings on to your customers in ANY WAY isn't right. You don't pay for labor to clean (the carpet was littered with the last patrons snack bits), you want patrons to conserve water and electricity which we do, and you can't be bothered to provide good service. You left me a stinky dish towel, dirty dishes and a sponge to wash them with that looked like it was used to clean the floor (gross I might add). You want us to recycle coffee pods although you don't empty the recycle receptacle when it's full, you don't restock the coffee, tea or condiments, leaving patrons to get it from the front desk or call and wait endless hours for it. You expect patrons to leave the trash for hours on end outside the doors, stinking and looking like crap, yet have the nerve to charge full rates. The grab and go breakfast should be called grabbed and gone breakfast because at 7.45 there wasn't a breakfast sandwich to be had. The selection is meager if the sandwiches are gone leaving yogurt and pastries (not really getting what you pay for here). This is a classic example of how the loss of profits during the pandemic = recovery at the expense of consumers. It's shameful, really.

Rooms were extremely spacious and well equipped.
Staff were friendly.
Rooms had great views onto well-maintained common green space and out across Long Lake.
It’s a bit out of the way, and a good 15 minute drive away from the amenities of the downtown core, but overall quite easy to drive in and out of town.

This hotel is amazing!!!! We stayed for 3 nights and I wish We could have stayed longer! To begin, the staff are SO amazing and SO accommodating and super friendly!!
We had a ground level room so we basically had a back yard, which was awesome because our 4 kids are super active.
The hotel was immaculate! Amazing view of the lake! Kayak, paddle boat and paddle board rentals. The continental breakfast (sadly due to Covid there was no hot breakfast. Not their fault though!) but was still awesome! They had a great spread of muffins, fruit, drinks etc. They also had laundry services with huge washer and dryers.
We will be returning for sure!! We can hardly wait for our next visit to Nanaimo in the spring! Thanks again to the staff at Inn on Long Lake. You made our stay so much better with your kindness and generosity. :)

Yes the view is pretty as it’s on the lake but it’s also next to a busy road. Definitely not what I was expecting when I booked. Also the breakfast was dismal and the coffee was so watered down, we couldn’t drink it. Went to find a coffee shop to get a morning coffee. Glad we only booked for the one night.

It's not really in a shopping area, but there is a mall a mile or two up the road. Departure Bay about 10 minutes. Not sure how far from VIU
All rooms are renovated and looking great.
There are rooms on the third floor, and away from the road. I know that some people are more sensitive to noise, and prefer the north end, but really noise is not an issue in any of our rooms.
We are always happy to do what we can to get our guests the ideal room, so please let us know your requests when you make your booking. While we never guarantee requests, as sometimes things do go astray, we do a great job at honouring the requests from guests.
We will see you in August

Royal Tunbridge Wells, United Kingdom12 contributions5 helpful votesWe have stayed here in the past and will be looking to stay next June for a few days while we visit family in the area. I see you are looking to do some renovating will this affect our stay. Many thanks.
We will indeed be doing some renovations, which will be starting shortly. The work will all be done by April 1, 2016, so will not impact your stay at our Inn. WE hope you like the changes!
We have a few remaining smoking rooms. We also allow smoking outside of the building.
There are indeed restaurants within walking distance. We are about 1 city block away from a nice Japanese restaurant, and a coffee shop/sandwich shop, and about 3 blocks from Montana's family restaurant.
Rates do vary depending on availability, but the rate available right now for two seniors in a standard room, with 2 queen size beds, coffeemaker, mini fridge, and microwave, Continental breakfast, and free wifi and parking is $121.50 plus taxes per night.
