Clean and comfortable rooms with lovely views from the balcony over the lake. We were pleasantly surprised that we couldn't hear the highway from our rooms. Good motel breakfast to get us on the road.

It's not really in a shopping area, but there is a mall a mile or two up the road. Departure Bay about 10 minutes. Not sure how far from VIU

We will indeed be doing some renovations, which will be starting shortly. The work will all be done by April 1, 2016, so will not impact your stay at our Inn. WE hope you like the changes!
