Small but well organized Motel (with electric number code on the door, i.e. without card or key). For only about 70 Euro/night you get a small, stylish room without breakfast (near the port/ferry)

We stayed at this property many years ago and decided to stay again after reading many good reviews about recent renovations. The reviews are correct, the renovations are excellent. Our room was well appointed. The shower was great and the bed, with crisp sheets, was very comfortable. We were in the back which was very quiet. Centrally located with lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance. Very friendly and helpful staff as well. A great stopover motel!!

Quiet hotel centrally located. Ignoring the exterior, the interior of the rooms felt like staying in someone's guest room. Down comforters with colorful duvet covers, very comfortable beds, fridge, microwave, coffee, and personal touches made the hotel a steal for the rate. It was the best night's sleep during our 8 day vacation.

This room was amazing! All redone very modern. Loved the shower. Roomy and the BEST shower heads EVER.! Pet friendly and perfect for our dog. Screen door opened up onto an enclosed yard for them to play and do their business. Will definitely stay here again when we're out this way. Thanks!!

Very pleasant stay. Marie the manager was most kind and thoughtful. She helped us check in brought us to our room and made us feel completely at home. Very few hotels have such a wonderful manager. The king size bed was very comfortable and I liked the rain drop shower. All in all an excellent stay.

Due to the circumstances of our visit, we didn't know how many nights we would be staying. The manager worked around our circumstances. His kindness was very much appreciated. Clean, quiet room, wonderfully comfortable bed.

To start out our stay, the front desk lady was rude and irritated that we disturbed her to book our rooms (3:30 in the AFTERNOON). We book 3 rooms in the hotel and left for the day. The next morning the woman barged into our room, without knocking and started threatening us. She then cut the power to our room and threatened to charge our credit card $15 for a non-returned key and for smoking in the room (which we had not done). This is all before check out time!! I could not believe it, and we had to call the police as the woman was so belligerent and hostile. We returned the key to the cop and was warned by the officer that the place was a dive in a bad area of town. Beware. I have stayed in many low budget hotels and have never been treated with such disrespect and vulgarity.

While traveling through British Columbia, we had not booked any rooms in advance not knowing where the day's end would be.
We came upon the Colonial Motel by chance and seeing the rate on the sign I asked my husband if I could please just look at the room.
As we all know, vacationing is expensive and the room rate looked too good to be true.
The rooms were spacious enough for the two beds, microwave and refrigerator. The entire room was very clean and the Logans a pleasure to stay with.
My very favorite part were the beds with the tasteful duvets. Not only did I sleep as well as at home, but the luxurious comfort of a soft overthrow is something you might see in a very pricey hotel.
There is also a nice place for breakfast directly across the street.
That was my first visit to BC and I hope the next time we go there I will be able to pass through Nanaimo and get a wonderful nights' rest at the Colonial.

It looked like a dive so I decided to go for dinner and check in as late as possible. When I arrived the owner/operator informed me that she had, "sold the room and there was no room for me." Of course I expressed my anger and told her I would write a review about this incident on trip advisor. After this, she called my phone and left a harassing message saying that I was a liar and she was calling the police. She is one of the rudest and most unstable people I have ever met! I can't believe some one like this would ever be in customer service!
