I was VERY impressed with this hotel. I attended a conference in October 2023, and I have only good comments. My daughter and I used the pool and hot tub every night, we had dinner in the restaurant which was delicious, and the staff are very aware of their clientele’s safety when they are outside of the establishment. I always saw the staff ensuring that the sidewalks were clean and maintained. I would absolutely recommend if you are staying in Nanaimo for a conference across the street in the Vancouver Convention Centre!

Good functional modern hotel, a welcome addition to downtown Nanaimo. Our 3rd floor room didn’t have much of a view but the room was well appointed with a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The bathroom and guest room were very large by today’s standards. The place was clean too. Only criticism is some of the design choices like the oddly shaped main entrance doors (too narrow) and no sense of obvious and welcoming entryway. Good hot tub and pool.

Welcomed by a charming man on reception whose name I wish I’d caught. Assisted us with check in. Room was wonderful. Looked brand new and absolutely spotless. The most comfy bed and pillows we’ve had all trip. Super size tv with Netflix which was handy
We were there for 2 nights and we didn’t have any one come into service the room but apparently they won’t do this unless requested for just 2 nights.
Parking is safe and secure and easy. Think it was 9 CAD a day.
The service at the bar in the evening was terrible. We ordered 2 drinks and was told he would bring it over but 20 mins later he was still taking orders from other customers so we upped and left. Seems like they understaff the bar.
Nanaimo itself felt a bit unsafe, many homeless people and not ideal for walking around in the evening so we made the most of having a nice room and got takeout food. This is no reflection on the hotel though.
Would highly recommend and would stay again if in Nanaimo. Thank you.

Excellent staff, very friendly. However, the management’s policy of housekeeping service only every second day was a big disappointment. If it weren’t for this outdated policy that is perpetuated solely to improve profits at the expense of guest comfort, I would have awarded 5 stars.

Great place

Overall a great Hotel with good amenities and I would definitely stay here again next time I am in Nanaimo.

There were a couple personal things I would like to see added, but again it is just a personal thing, such as Robes. This is the first ever Marriott Property I've ever stayed at that didn't have robes you could wear to the pool. There also was no Alarm Clock, nor regular wall clock in the room, I would like to see some sort of clock as I had to use my phone to see the time.

The Single use coffee machine created a lot of waste. I would like to see a more eco friendly type of coffee machine in each room. The main lobby was extremely unwelcoming and impersonal and I would like to see it spruced up maybe with plants and more seating areas or something like that, but again these are all personal things and I'm sure in time these little things will be addressed.

Overall again it was a beautiful new property, the Pool and hot tub were great along with a very modern and well equipped Gym, I would love to have had a Sauna, but there was none. Final thoughts, stay here.

With the mixed reviews, I had to add our comments. This is a fantastic hotel. Just over a year old, it’s new and well-appointed. Rooms are designed with convenience; places for suitcase, drawers in the right places, comfy pillows. For this level of hotel, it was superb. Yes, a glass of wine was pricey but it’s conveniently downstairs. Staff friendly & helpful w restaurant recommendations and travel advice. Having lightweight blankets available (as option to comforter) would be nice.

This is a new modern hotel. Very much like all other North American hotels. It has all the amenities we needed and more including gym and small pools. Clean and comfortable. However as there are no opening windows the air con is on 24/7 even if you turn it to off. And it is really noisy! We thought this hotel was good value for what we paid but I would search for somewhere else another time to get a good nights sleep without all the noise.

Courtyard's are not usually the nicest hotels in the Marriott brand but this Courtyard was excellent. I felt like I was in the nicest hotel in Nanaimo.

This Courtyard was newly renovated and it showed throughout the hotel. The room was larger than any other room we stayed in throughout our vacation on Vancouver Island. The beds were very comfortable and the hotel was quite quiet.

The location is also great. We walked around Nanaimo's town centre and had a lovely brunch.

I highly recommend this hotel.

A typical Courtyard hotel - clean and comfortable. Our room didn’t have much of a view but had a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker. It was nice to have a washer and dryer available for us. We found that the restaurant was just okay. The menu was limited and high priced for the the food.
